How do you choose between two wonderfully romantic and sentimental venues? You don’t; you do both. That’s exactly what these cuties did, choosing a local winery for their “I do’s” and then dining and dancing the night away at a nearby country club, perfect for the golf-loving Groom. Created Lovely Events ensured the transition was seamless and Christie Graham captured every pretty detail, which thanks to all these beautiful blooms, our VAULT just got a major boost – see it all this way!
From the Bride… After seven years together as high school sweethearts, I was thrilled when Brandon asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. We immediately started searching for wedding venues. Being born and raised in “Wine Country” Kelowna, British Columbia, I always knew as a little girl I wanted to get married among the beautiful scenery and vineyards that a winery would offer. We found this exactly in Cedar Creek Winery, which is nestled along beautiful Okanagan Lake, surrounded by aging grapes on a quiet hillside. Brandon, who is an avid golfer, was delighted to book the reception at Kelowna Golf and Country Club overlooking the 15th hole. He has shared many memories with his childhood friends learning to golf so it was very special to him to hold the reception at this venue.
Nicole Sihlis, owner of Created Lovely Events helped Brandon and I with our vision of an intimate, romantic day filled with beautiful greenery and flowers. She worked with us for months leading up to our wedding and had many creative ideas and recommendations for incredible vendors targeted towards our budget.
On our wedding day, the sky was filled with clouds and sporadic drops of rain – which is unusual for a July day in Kelowna. Among the chaos of getting ready, I tried not to worry about the weather. Minutes before our ceremony started, the clouds opened up and the sun started to poke through just in time for me to walk down the aisle – it was truly a perfect day!
Brandon and I are still in awe at how wonderful of a job Created Lovely and her team did to transform our wedding reception area into something that reaped our vision. Our favorite part was the lush Italian Ruscus greenery backdrop behind the head table created by A New Leaf Floral Design. It was so dreamy and whimsical. The head table was filled with individual vases and different garden roses in soft pastel colors. Every guest had his or her own individual name card, which was written in script with a touch of watercolor. We had such a great experience working with Meg White (graphic designer) describing what we wanted to see on our day in terms of stationery and her putting it to life. The table floral arrangements were stunning – garden roses, dahlias, and snowberries among other in season flowers, all surrounded by multiple candles. We loved these details, especially Nicole wrapping every fork and knife set with greenery and tying it all with silk ribbon. Small details such as this truly set our wedding apart from others.
Throughout the day, Brandon and I felt a new connection of love and happiness from each other, as we were now husband and wife. In addition our hearts were so overjoyed with the support of our family and friends who came to watch and celebrate with us as we took the next step in our relationship. We are very fortunate to have been able to work with such a talented photographer – Christie Graham – to capture the joy we shared between each other and our guests on the most incredible day of our lives!
To end the night perfectly, Brandon and I had preordered 200 cheeseburgers, 120 McNuggets, and 60 small fries from McDonalds for our midnight snack. Our friends and family were thrilled when we delivered them loaded on trays. This was the highlight of the night for many, and an unexpected surprise!
We could not be more grateful for such a wonderful day surrounded by our closest family and friends. Many thanks to all of our vendors who made this day such a success! Brandon and I look forward to honeymooning throughout Australia and Bali in the spring.
