Jeff and Paola’s wedding was impeccably designed with one of Indiana’s most in-demand wedding planners, Blue Llama Events. Their vendor team collaborated to bring to life a chic, upscale, yet timeless wedding with intentionality and artistry. The statement of the wedding was the abundance of lux florals, designed by Sima Patel. The black and white paper suite against the accented gold chairs and place settings kept this wedding glamorous yet visually interesting. Our bride wanted a simple floral bouquet as to keep her hand-sown crystal gown a focal piece when walking down the mirrored aisle.

Newfields Gardens location in Indianapolis, Indiana was the perfect location for our celebrity bride and groom. Luscious white and ivory florals adorned every corner of Deer Zink reception space. Elaborate and delicate centerpieces wowed our bride as well as their guests. The sweetheart table was handmade with a variety of florals, namely orchids. Our ceremony aisle was mirrored and lined with thousands of flowers for a truly classic statement piece. Acrylic ghost chairs for the family and friends to be seated against the Lilly Mansion at Newfields made for a timeless, yet modern and chic ceremony setup. Pickle Prints designed an extravagant seating chart that included it’s own lighting setup and floral arrangements for the guests to gaze upon during cocktail hour. Additionally, the black and white table menus were perfectly designed to fit behind the glass chargers for a unique place setting.

How to Pair Old Warm Charm With Modern Elements at Your Micro Wedding

For today’s wedding inspo, we’re sharing the blueprints for pulling off old world charm with a mix of modern elements at your micro wedding – all thanks to Blush and Blossom Events! From a reception dripping in hundred of cascading blooms by Isibeal Studio to a Beauty and the Beast inspired escort display, there’s so much to fall head over heels in love with. To pin your faves, check out the full gallery taken by Molly Carr Photography!

From Blush and Blossom EventsNestled among the trees of the Wellington Neighborhood in Meridian Hills lies a manor fit for a king. “Fox Hill Manor” served as the perfect backdrop for this intimate micro wedding inspiration shoot. Organic, romantic, and minimal were the words used by Blush and Blossom Events to describe the vision for this shoot, which was a nod to old world charm with modern elements. We wanted to create an ethereal, dream-like setting, reminiscent of an old English garden, overflowing with lush florals. The end result was simply breathtaking.

The bride was a vision in not only one, but two Watters gowns- one worn for the ceremony and the other for the reception. The romantic floral color palette highlighted the blush Watters gown worn by our model, Natalia. The neutral florals were exquisitely designed by Isibeal Studio to enhance the private estate’s natural landscape while also paying homage to the last little bits of summer hanging on.

One of my favorite details from the shoot was the invitation suite accompanied by a love letter written from the groom to the bride, crafted by Every Little Letter. To create truly beautiful heirloom images of the invitation suite, we always recommend hiring a stylist to create the flat lay for the photographer. Isibeal Studio served as a creative director and stylist designing a stunning flat lay filled with florals to accent the handwritten note. Guest experience was of utmost importance in designing this petite celebration.

As more brides and grooms are having to pare down their wedding guest count, this can consequently result in more intentional and personal wedding details. Guests were welcomed with a charming escort display of handmade paperie and fresh blooms positioned underneath glass cloches. Hundreds of flowers cascaded down and around the newlyweds and guests as they dined al fresco, as well as served as the luxe backdrop for the cakes. Every intricate detail on the tablescape, from the wax seal place cards and vellum menus, down to the laurel leaf gold chargers, was to create more texture in the tablescape and in turn, more visual interest. Fine art wedding photographer Molly Carr captured the enchanted setting with perfection.

Inside The House of House Seven Design

If you aren’t following House Seven Design on Instagram run, don’t walk, to your phone and hit that follow button! The couple, Anissa and Brian, officially launched House Seven Design two years ago in Indianapolis, IN. Anissa spends her time focusing on interior styling, while Brian handles residential remodeling projects. Their design style is aspirational, but doable. Everything looks fabulously styled while still feeling like the space is livable for a family (we are so here for that!). We sat down with Anissa to chat about her family’s own home, and their business! Prepare for serious design inspo below.

Take us through your home, what was your vision when designing the space?

This house is actually our eighth home! We loved this particular neighborhood and found this house on the market. The house was not great, it was a real bachelor pad and not a family home. So, going into it, we knew it was going to be a gut job. The started construction on the main areas of the home prior to moving it. Brian and I both knew this was going to be the home where we would raise our family, so it was exciting to create what we wanted. I always find new projects around the house which is fun, but it’s also daunting at the same time. As of now we have been in the house for 2 1/2 years and there is still work to be done!

What is your favorite room in the house and where do you spend the most time?

What, if any, were some of the challenges with bringing your vision to life?

There were so many challenges when it came to this house! As I mentioned, it was very much a bachelor pad – it was also an eighty-year-old house. The previous owners had a wet bar with neon lights, the kitchen wasn’t great, and my biggest pet peeve was there was no entry way. You walked into the house and were immediately in the living room. I think it’s important to gradually enter a space, especially when you have kids, you need a place to take off your shoes etc.! One of my first projects was creating a real entryway which we did by adding a wall and creating a vocal point. This switches up your focus by bringing attention to the stairway and console table. It was also important to get rid of the wet bar, which with three young daughters was the last thing we needed in the house. We turned this space into a fun hang out area for the girls.

This is your eighth home! What were you looking for when you purchased this house?

We were really looking for a long-term home in a great neighborhood. Even though we knew this house was going to be a huge project, we were able to really create a home that worked for us not only decor wise, but with renovations as well.

For someone looking to revamp their home one room at a time, where would you start?

Definitely start with the kitchen! A good kitchen in working order is so important. The kitchen is always a place where people hang out, whether you have kids, or you are entertaining, everyone always flocks to the kitchen.

Another important space – the bathroom! It doesn’t matter which bathroom it is, but make sure you have one great bathroom.

What are a few design staples people should invest in (i.e. a great coffee table, statement lighting etc.)?

A good sofa – one hundred percent! A good sofa makes such a huge difference. In my business I have the luxury of trying out so many different furniture options and I think it’s really important. After the kitchen, the living room is probably where you will spend most of your time, and that time will be spent curled up on the couch. I would suggest investing in a good sofa like one from Rove Concepts, and then using less expensive pieces from World Market, or Target, to decorate around it. Not only is comfort important but if you have a ratty looking sofa it will make the whole room look messy. Look for quality and comfort!

What has been more challenging, designing your own home, or creating spaces for your clients?

Working on my own home is so much harder – hands down! When working with clients, I am very decisive, I know what I want to do, and I can explain why. Because I am constantly looking and new products and finding new sources of inspiration it’s hard to narrow things down for myself – there is so much great stuff out there! Sometimes it’s challenging to not want to change things or add a little something new. For both myself and my clients I really try to design for longevity, which is one of the reasons I gravitate towards so many neutral pieces.
Social media also makes it hard. We share so much of our home on Instagram and that puts pressure on making sure everything looks perfect. The constant challenge of Instagram vs. Reality!

Your current portfolio is stunning! Do you have big plans for expanding House Seven Design?

I would love to expand in the future! We are still such a young company so everything we are doing is still so fresh and exciting. It didn’t even feel like it was a business until my husband, Brian, came on and we began offering build out projects in addition to design services. Who knows what the future will bring, we have a great thing going right now!

It seems like you and Brian are a great team! Do you both work on everything together? Or do you focus on different aspects of the business?

Our business encompasses build services and design services, so although we are one business it is also very separate. Brian spends most of his time on job sites where he handles remodels and build projects. He is a general contractor, so he is responsible for pulling all those pieces together. For remodels, I work with the client to come up with a vision and then he makes that happen! I also work with clients solely on design projects that don’t involve Brian, so it depends on the client.

Do you work with clients all over the country, or do you stay local?

Right now, we are mostly local which keeps us super busy! We get a ton of inquiries from people on the West Coast but unfortunately, we don’t have the resources at this time. However, we do offer e-design projects which is fun and allows us to work with clients on design projects all over the country.

Do your daughters have interest in design and following in her parent’s footsteps?

Our girls are 13, 11, and 5, and they all have very different interests! Our oldest wants to be a vet, our 11-year-old is such a free spirit and has all kinds of interests, but our 5-year-old says she wants to be just like mom and dad! She will make comments about certain things in a home and how she would do things differently. But who knows!

Karli Woods & Robert Wickens’ Anything but Traditional Fall Wedding With Major Spooky Vibes

There’s nothing better than when a couple ditches tradition and truly makes their wedding day as unique and rare as their beautiful love! Karli and Robert did just that. They sprinkled in a little bit of Star Wars, a zombie apocalypse reference or two, racing elements to pay homage to Robert’s career, and tons of boho decor moments! Design the Day brought their fun wedding vision to life, leaving no detail unturned.

The most inspiring moment? After the groom suffered a terrible racing accident and was told he’d never walk again, he was determined to rise to the occasion and be able to dance at his wedding – and dance he did. To say his story is inspirational would be a serious understatement. And of course, his beautiful wife was right by his side through it all. Head on over to the full gallery for some major happy tears – all taken by Violet Short!

From the Bride… Creepy, geeky, and little bohemian. That was the vibe we were going for. I am pretty confident we ticked all the boxes off! We got married at the Lucas Estates in Carmel, Indiana on September 28th, 2019.

There was a little bit of Star Wars, Game of Thrones, zombies, racing, and romance! There was nothing traditional about our wedding, it was just a perfect mix of both Rob and I. I even referenced the zombie apocalypse in my wedding vows! 😛

Rob actually ran over my train when they announced us as Mr. & Mrs. Wickens for the first time. It was quite the ordeal haha! Luckily, our friend Max saved the day and got my dress out of his wheel without having to cut or rip it!

Another highlight of the wedding was getting to spend time with our amazing wedding party, everyone looked stunning! But the best part of the night was getting to dance with Rob, look how far he has come!

This Backyard Wedding Is Basically “Father of the Bride” IRL

You’ve seen Father of the Bride, right? It’s pretty safe to say we’ve found the real life version that’s better than the movie any day. After becoming engaged, these two knew her childhood home was the perfect spot to tie the knot, and with the help of Intertwine Style they transformed her parent’s garden into a ceremony masterpiece. Almond Leaf Studios worked their usual magic behind the lens and there’s even more to pin this way.

Backyard

From the Bride… I met Alex through mutual friends about four years ago. We hit it off instantly and talked to each other for the majority of the night. His intellectual curiosity and sense of humor are what initially drew me in and I have been smitten ever since! He proposed to me in our apartment kitchen on a Friday night with my dream ring from Satomi Kawakita. The ring is extremely simple and not your typical engagement ring by any means, but it is exactly what I wanted. The beauty and meaning behind the simplicity of the ring is perfect. We had friends over for champagne and dreamed of things to come!

My parents have maintained a beautiful garden at my childhood home of about 22 years. Growing up, the garden was a place to hang out and nibble on berries, pick flowers, and just enjoy the outdoors. It is a place I hold dear and when Alex and I got engaged it was instantly my ideal venue for our ceremony. Aligning our reception venue with the lush, dreamy, and nostalgic vibe of my parents’ garden was key for me. Luckily, a generous family friend offered up her peony farm, Oscar-Morse Peonies, which was a dream come true. We visited the farm as the sun was setting and I knew it would be perfect. I let the venues essentially guide the rest of my decision-making.

For floral design, we were lucky enough to have peonies from both Oscar-Morse and my parents’ garden. Having watched my parents’ peonies bloom yearly as a child, it meant so much to see them in bouquets and arrangement on our big day. Beyond the sourcing of the flowers, Kelly Lenard was a genius with the design! I wanted lush, soft, muted colors along with some blush/pale yellow/ivories. My dress was a color called “Butter” so I wanted some yellows in my bouquet to complement that. I also wanted a bit of an edge to the all the softness, which is where we integrated smoke bush, Do-Tell peonies, and rex begonia leaves. She executed on the vision flawlessly.

I wanted my dress to be chic, not fussy, and I wanted it to be Houghton Bride. When I saw Alice in Ivory was holding a Houghton trunk show I instantly booked an appointment. I am entirely obsessed with what Houghton has been doing in the bridal industry, and while Katharine Polk’s designs can lean a bit more “City Bride,” I *loved* every dress I tried on and ultimately chose the Kate Dress. It was the perfect fit for me and the garden wedding. To make it a little more ethereal, I added the Jennifer Behr Coronet and a thin belt. For bridesmaids I wanted a more formal spin on the slip-dress and Joanna August’s Kimi dress was a perfect fit.

The day was absolutely perfect and I cannot thank our vendors enough for all that they did to make it run seamlessly! The day went by faster than I ever could imagine and Almond Leaf Studios did a great job at capturing the day and emotion. We’ll look back on these pictures for years to come and think of what a happy day it was!

From Chicago Vintage WeddingsShalia and Paul were married October 3, 2015 in LaPorte, Indiana. Shalia’s vision for lush, rustic elegance came to life in every aspect of the wedding, down to the tiniest details! The bicoastal couple first met on a job site and were living in a remote part of northern Canada when they began planning their destination wedding. Shalia, an LA girl with family living around the world, and Paul, a midwesterner, decided on an outdoor barn location near the groom’s family home for their dream wedding day. They enlisted the help of planner + vintage rental company Chicago Vintage Weddings, floral designer Kelly Lenard of Intertwine, and husband-wife photography and DJ team Lauren and Alex Balingit.

Elegant Deer Park Manor Wedding

The internet is full of wedding inspiration (um, duh, THE VAULT!), so it’s easy to see why this beautiful Bride got a little overwhelmed planning her summer wedding. Luckily for her, her best friend just so happens to be the talent behind All Grand Events. Not only did she get her dream wedding, shot by Lisa Berry Photography, and dream husband, but she also got to plan the whole thing with her best friend!

From The Bride…When Mike and I started planning our wedding, our “vision” was basically nonexistent. I felt like I could have been happy with many different types of weddings. After browsing through wedding pictures on the Internet, I was able to decide on one thing—I wanted our reception to be outside under a big white tent. We booked a venue where this would be possible. But this was where my vision ended—everything else was kind of blurry.

Luckily for me, my best friend, Emily, is an event designer! She was able to use the venue itself as a launching point and create the most beautiful wedding I could have imagined. My wedding took the shape of a lovely, intimate garden party—which I didn’t even know was what I wanted until she designed it for me. We settled on a color palette of blush pink, peach, cream, and gold. We focused on the flowers above other decorations, and I’m so glad we did! The natural beauty of the venue, combined with Emily’s floral designs was breathtaking.

Everyone always tells you that you should prepare for at least one minor disaster on the day of your wedding. We really lucked out because everything went off without a hitch. The weather was perfect for our outdoor ceremony, the food was spectacular, and we spent the night dancing with all our family and friends.

My biggest piece of advice for brides-to-be, especially for those who are on a more limited budget, is to only worry about the things that matter most to you. I may not have had the most beautiful wedding programs, but I will always have the amazing photographs from Lisa Berry Photography. She perfectly captured the first moment that Mike and I saw each other before our ceremony, our last moments before becoming husband and wife. She managed to beautifully capture all of Emily’s work on the flowers and other decorations. I’m so thankful that I’ll always be able look at those pictures to remember our perfect day.

Indiana Classic Garden Wedding

Take a classic garden celebration and add a generous dose of color plus blooms by Kelly Lenard, and I’m on board. It’s everything we love about summer nuptial with design moments (hello invite suite and family crest!) that feel totally fresh. Thanks to Lauren Baling for the perfect moments captured, all waiting in THE VAULT.

From The Bride…The vision for my wedding was very classic and organic. Much of my inspiration came from the natural setting of the garden we used for our ceremony. Different shades of pink were used for the bridesmaids dresses and florals to add color. The rest of the colors were very neutral to complement the outdoor setting. Kelly went over and beyond the with the florals!

The highlight of the day was walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Joshua’s reaction. I could feel and see how raw and real his love was for me at that moment! We wanted our ceremony to be closely connected to us, so we our fathers! Joshua’s father was able to officiate the wedding, and my father read scriptures and led in prayer. Overall, having the people we love most celebrating our love was the best wedding gift we could’ve received, and I’m so thankful Lauren was able to capture our love so beautifully!

Traditional Indiana Wedding with a Hint of Southern Charm

Monogrammed, chandelier’d, and 100% classic every inch of this affair planned by Boldly Chic Events is tucked, tied and designed to perfection. The Bride’s impeccable style alone is worthy of a stroll through THE VAULT gallery. Cory & Jackie stood behind every shot you see here, and we have a feeling you’ll fall hard for this understated class.

Lori from Boldly Chic EventsThere is something about Jenny and Aaron that is incredibly special. The kindness they show everyone they meet is something that can’t be missed. They have a lovely calmness about them and it is clear that they are going to have a life full of absolute love. We enjoyed every minute of the planning with this couple and the day turned out perfectly. It is one we will never forget.

The couple chose Attica, Indiana as the setting for wedding day events. We were thrilled to make the short road trip away from Indy! The Old Church was charming with a southern feel, which is fitting for the native Texan Bride.

The natural-ness of the day was at every turn – the bridal gown, the florals, the simple greenery details and the private property set in rural Williamsport all made it personal and exactly in line with what the couple loves most.

The private property was owned by a friend of the couple and they have spent several days walking the trails, enjoying the creek and just enjoying nature on the secluded grounds as a couple. So, the decision was easy!

The week leading up to the wedding was wet – very wet. But, all the talented vendors (and the groom’s farming expertise) pulled it in and made this tented affair go off flawlessly. We couldn’t have done it without them!

From Kyle John Photography

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

From the Bride & Groom… The ceremony and reception were both held in the backyard of the home where Molly’s mother grew up. We wanted the wedding to be elegant yet relaxed, and for decor we relied on the surrounding natural beauty of the sycamores and gardens. Despite several sporadic downpours throughout the day, the clouds parted for guests to enjoy cocktail hour and the celebration lasted late into the evening with dinner and dancing.

Elegant, Woodsy Indiana Garden Wedding

In an enchanted forest setting, this sweet couple’s fairytale wedding came to life. Wearing her mother’s reimagined wedding gown and veil handmade by her mother, the bride walked down the long aisle to meet her groom under a dome of baby’s breath. Clark Brewer and Coastline Studios captured all the magical details in this happily ever after.

From Avery Grace Events and Coastline StudiosThis secret garden wedding is an absolute fairy tale. From the floral design to the photography, every aspect and detail was planned and pulled off without a hitch.

One of the most special aspects of Whitney and Bradley’s garden wedding, was the beautiful film photography that they chose to have. Published professional photographer Clark Brewer captured all of the perfect moments, reflecting the couple’s romantic, fun, and classic vibes. The vintage film photos stun in black and white and color, making this wedding one to remember.

Whitney’s vision for her magical Wedding Day, was one of family, friends, and fairytale floral. The enchanting forest and stunning sunshine were the perfect backdrop for this gorgeous couple’s nuptuals. The wedding venue, The International Friendship Gardens, was the perfect place to host Whitney and Bradley’s family and friends on the Michigan/Indiana border near her family’s lake home.

The couple wanted to capture the idyllic feeling of a day frolicking in this beautiful part of the country, which has always been so special to the couple and their families. Elegant and Natural without being stuffy is how Whitney described wanting her wedding to be. With one surprise after another to appeal to all senses, the guests began their day with a casual stroll through the woods to the ceremony site, an oasis under an arch of towering pines.

Keeping it a family affair, the bride remade her mother’s wedding gown, and her mother then made Whitney’s veil. Appease Inc gave Whitney a romantic updo and natural makeup were the perfect match to her minamalist dress. Whitney’s bridesmaids were given full reign in picking their dresses, other than the color pallette of light pastels and blush. While they were getting ready, Whitney and Bradley’s dog Emma was there for all of the excitement and nerves.

When Whitney came down the long aisle through the clearing in the woods, she captured all attention with her proud father on her arm. Under the dome, fringed with baby’s breathe and toile the couple with their attendants and family beside them, faced out to their guests in a very touching exchange of vows. The ceremony was short and sweet, but the perfect celebration of the couple.

With vintage lanterns guiding the way , guests were invited to jump on golf carts or stroll through the enchanting path over an antique bridge to the ceremony site which opened to another stunning vista on a willow lined lake with a clearing for migrating geese. Here, guests were greeted with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

The band, with a hip-southern vibe travelled from Athens, GA as a special request from the couple ( this was their favorite band from Nashville, TN, back from the couple’s Vanderbilt days. The tables were graced with vintage brass candlesticks from the bride, her mother and aunt’s collections and the candlelit glow interlaced with the exquisite florals done by renowned florist from Town and Country Magazine, Fleur Chicago. The flowers, set in brass from Refind Joy were mixed with wildflowers which made the setting inside the tent perfectly blend in with the wild forest.

A tearjerking toast from the brides brother and father set the stage for a wonderful evening of celebration, joy and magic, dancing the night away, all the while being filmed by Coastline Studios. The delicious food by Jewell Events and the full moon festivities made this summer evening the perfect start to a lovely marriage.
