The Coziest Winter Wedding in New England

If you’re going to throw a wedding during the cozy winter months, I can’t think of a better spot than the Willowdale Estate. Especially when said wedding day includes seasonal florals by Luna Moss and sweet treats from Mayflour Confections. With pretty fur wraps and romantic snow scenes, this gallery by Cuppa Photography will make you crave winter in a serious way.

From Willowdale EstateWinter weddings are instantly romantic; but this particular occasion stands out for incorporating a few details that we cannot get enough of: vintage fur, cascading greenery, candle-light and warm fireplaces. Melissa and Ryan made a great impression on everyone who worked with them for their generous care for the guests, the authentic connection with each other, and their effortless style that was both formal and relaxed at the same time. The weather outside was blustery and cold but the guests were welcomed with a warm drink and escorted into the ceremony which was filled with candle romantic candle light. We kept the atmosphere cozy with our savory appetizers, warm fireplaces, and a soup course during dinner!

From The Bride…The inspiration was a secret garden in winter type of theme. We wanted it to look whimsical and romantic! It was the weekend of the polar vortex in New England so it was FREEZING. We were taking photos outside in negative thirty degree temperatures.

I love winter weddings because there are not many so everyone is looking forward to it. There is also something so wonderful about being together with all your loved ones by the fireplace while it’s negative degrees outside. Also, during our ceremony, the wind was howling and it made it really beautiful when we were saying our vows. We did a burning of sage during our wedding ceremony to clear the space for us as well as our guests. The smoke looked beautiful against the moonlight winter sky at Willowdale!

I wore my Grandma Mae’s fur shawl and all the women in the bridal party wore their grandmother’s fur. The Blue Vintage Ring and Gold Bracelet were both my grandmothers! My husband’s mom made beautiful welcome boxes for the hotel rooms, but unfortunately we don’t have a picture of them. We have some really nice memories of going to dance lessons to practice our first dance. My favorite memories are of practicing our dance in our tiny living room in Boston. We donated the flowers to the Kaplan House which is a hospice house that my mother volunteers at. It is a beautiful place.

Florals + Paris Are Always A Perfect Pair

I’m downright giddy with glee today. Not only do we have pretty pics from Greg Finck but the center of his attention? The lovely face behind Myrtle et Olive and her adorable hubby as they explored Paris in honor of their anniversary. From getting ready and prepping her florals, to strolling the streets, image after image gives me the best kind of butterflies. See them all right this way!

From the Bride… My husband, Charles, gave me one of my most treasured anniversary presents, a photo shoot with Greg Finck in my favorite city, Paris. Charles and I met during our University years. Charles took a bold move to drop out of University to pursue his entrepreneurial dream and he encouraged me start my own business three years ago. I took a leap of faith and started Myrtle et Olive Floral and Events, now working as Myrtle’s Artistic Director and Lead Florist. This year marks our 2nd year wedding anniversary, but more importantly, our 10th year being together.

Greg Finck is one of my favorite fine art photographers who is so immensely talented and calming to be with. It was such a memorable and fun experience designing this photoshoot with him. Our great friend Karla from Written Word Calligraphy gifted us with our wedding vows in her handwritten calligraphy on precious hand-made paper. It is something we treasure so dearly and brought together with us for this shoot along with my gold amber vintage ring from my vintage ring collection.

Greg captured the entire journey of our anniversary session from a boudoir session of me getting ready in the refine Windsor Robe from The Lace Atelier, putting together the final touches of my overgrown, pastel bouquet, to Charles and I wondering the quiet, immensely charming street of Paris with the sight of the Eiffel Tower. Our anniversary is captured so wonderfully by Greg and we are so grateful to relive our moments through tangibles! They are such beautiful memories that we will cherish for a lifetime.

Channel Your Inner Princess with This Castle Wedding Inspiration

The word ‘beautiful’ barely does justice for this inspiration from Myrtle et Olive. It’s ethereal and elegant, yet totally approachable and completely chic, and we’ve got every bit of it captured by the incomparable Kurt Boomer waiting paitently for you in The Vault!

From Myrtle et OliveWe strived to create a royal, old-world romance inspired look that merges seamlessly with the Castle and perfectly manicured gardens and grounds of the venue. Refined décor details such as oversized ornate candle holders, antique gold glassware and dupioni silk were added for the feel of elegance. For our floral palette, we juxtaposed the decadence of burgundy and hazel hues that are so in abundance during the fall season of the year with the softest neutral hues. We sought to create a celebration that is truly timeless and utterly classic where one will look back and fall in love with again and again. We worked with the incredible Written Word Calligraphy to craft one of a kind paper goods and details, including custom illustrated programs wrapped in raw silk from FrouFrou Chic, horizontal metallic “Godiva” inspired menus and luxury, embroidered monogram napkins graced on the most delicate dinnerware by Arte Italica from Vancouver-based decorative furnishing, Chintz and Company. You can swoon over the stunning romantic, ethereal Reem Acra gown with an embroidered top and light, refined chiffon to create a serene, graceful ambiance as the bride wonders the garden and hidden places of the castle…

Tackling a baby registry is no easy fete, friends. Having just gone through the process myself, I learned that there’s a whole lot more to it than clicking ‘add’ for all the cute stuff (those tiny outfits are dangerous!). Thankfully I had a whole lotta mama (and papa) friends who were willing to lend advice, so I thought I’d share the top 10 items that were recommended to us for our babe on the way. A Modern Wedding with a French Fry Bar = Total Goals

Incase you wanted proof that the 501 Union is just about the coolest place to tie the knot, then let Dina and Dustin’s wedding celebration captured by Rebecca Yale Photography be all the evidence needed. Complete with a french fry bar (!!), fab florals from DESIGNS BY AHN, the sweetest fur baby AND a few carousel portraits, we’ve got it all (including those beautiful Jenny Yoo gowns), waiting for you in The Vault!

From Rebecca Yale PhotographyDina and Dustin were married on a beautiful Fall day at Brooklyn’s 501 Union. The bride and groom were surrounded by their friends and family, and their adorable fur-baby, Mochi, who walked down the aisle with the groom. The couple began their morning getting ready at the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park City where they did a romantic first look in a garden just the two of them before heading over to Jane’s Carousel in DUMBO for portraits. The couple had a traditional Chinese tea ceremony in private with their parents and the bride’s grandmother, followed by the ceremony officiated by a friend set against a backdrop installation of green, white and gold foliage and roses created by Ahn Designs. After the ceremony guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers at the bar before a family style dinner at long banquet tables in the dining room followed by an evening of dancing the night away!

From the Bride…After a year and a half of long distance dating, Dustin and I got engaged and the countdown towards ending our separation across country began. It was decided that following the wedding, I’d relocate to Dallas. Dustin knew that moving was a big decision for me as I had lived in Brooklyn my entire life – and how hard it is to leave New York City, a place like no other. To honor that, we decided our wedding would take place in Brooklyn so that I could say goodbye.

501 Union came across my Instagram feed right before Dustin proposed. It was the first venue I reached out to as it definitely fit the look we were going for: industrial with a bit of history and a modern vibe. 501 Union was our first stop and it ended up being the only venue we looked at because Dustin said, “I can see myself marrying you here.” I wanted to roll my eyes and say that there were still other appointments. Even though I thought we should look at more places, I felt the same. It was decided then 501 Union would be the place we’d say I do.

Autumn is my favorite time of year in NYC. We chose a date in early October, which was deemed auspicious in the lunar calendar by my traditional Chinese family. As a self-proclaimed non-girly girl who tends to prefer dark monochromatic colors, we went with navy, grey, ivory, and gold for our industrial chic theme.

After checking venue off the list, we began building our D+D wedding dream team! The first member to join was the effervescent Rebecca Yale, who we both fangirl’d over after our first meeting. It was not just over her portfolio, but how at ease we both felt with her. Over the next year, Rebecca was a rainbow of a person to correspond with, and I am grateful to have built a friendship with her in that time. Dustin and I couldn’t have been more blessed to have her document one of the biggest days of our lives.

That set the tone with all the other wonderful vendors we’d come to find, and we were beyond lucky and privileged to have them be a part of our wedding day. I’d like to thank all the amazing ladies (and a few gentlemen) that Dustin and I interacted with during our wedding planning that helped make our wedding day so memorable.

Special thanks to Caroline and Holly (aka 14 carat) of Fig and Pig for answering our millions of emails; Ashley Chamblin for being an absolute coordination boss bae; Victoria and the DBA team for dealing with a bride who was very particular with flower colors; and lastly, Jennifer at 501 Union for being our wedding guardian angel. As a bride who never ended up making a Pinterest board and had the added difficulty of planning a wedding during a long distance engagement, I couldn’t have done it without you BAE-yonces. Thank you for helping create the wedding of my dreams and giving me the ultimate goodbye to Brooklyn. For it is said, by Notorious B.I.G, to “Spread love, it’s the Brooklyn way,” and it was a magical night where we were able to share our love with family and friends in Brooklyn.

A Seaside Wedding That Will (Literally) Take Your Breath Away

Seaside weddings make my heart happy. And this stunner planned to absolute perfection by the talented team at Bella Notte Events? Taking my breath away. From the awe-inspiring locale (I’m looking at you, Corinthian Yacht Club) to the gorgeous vintage meets modern aesthetic to the bride and groom who are too. cute. for. words. See it all captured by Blue Photo in THE VAULT.

From Bella Notte Events… Ellen and Alejandro began dating in the summer of 2013. They met by happenstance when Alejandro had returned to New York City for his summer internship. They were instantly inseparable and kept their relationship flourishing when Alejandro returned to Dartmouth for his final year of business school. It wasn’t long before Ellen and Alejandro decided to move to San Francisco together. They were married on September 6, 2015 in bayside town of Tiburon, California.

For the wedding they wanted to have a vintage feel with a modern twist. They selected timeless elements that fit their overall vision. This all came together for them when they discovered the Lyford House for their ceremony. The historic victorian house set on the San Francisco Bay with the city skyline in the backdrop, felt like the perfect combination of vintage and modern with the timeless feel.

For the flowers it was peaches, whites and greens, the bridesmaids wore a marine blue and the groom and his men were in classic black and white tuxedos. Ellen was in a strapless Jin Wang gown with beautiful lace detailing. The Corinthian Yacht Club felt like a seamless fit for the reception. Located in the quaint town of Tiburon, CA also on the SF Bay with wood accents and city views.

The linens were gold with a burnt orange and rose gold, a perfect reflection of the soon to be fall colors. Tall lush floral center pieces with vintage candles holders throughout and white drape with twinkle lights set the scene.

Thoughtful favors of homemade soap (a hobby of the bride) filled the room with a beautiful scent.

The photo booth was active all night as was the dance floor. Alejandro and his family immigrated from Cuba, and the latin music kept everybody moving on the dance floor.

From the Bride... Our planner Cindy Danbom of Bella Notte Events helped bring our design vision together. She has great style and guided us easily with linen choices and decor options. Cindy made the planning process come together and the day was so perfect.

P.S. How to Choose Your Color Palette

Mountain Luxury Wedding Inspiration That Scales New Heights

Can we please discuss how incredibly beautiful this inspiration from Lexia Frank Photography is? Combining the talented planning of Tracie Domino Events with the undeniably breathtaking scenery of Park City, it’s a gallery so beyond beautiful that words simply won’t do it justice. Add in some pretty stationery from A&P Designs and we’re pretty much speechless. See it all in The Vault!

From Tracie Domino EventsSince my first visit to Park City a little over 13 years ago – and MANY trips since, I’ve been inspired by the gorgeous setting of this fabulous mountain town. Home of the Sundance Film Festival and one of America’s favorite ski towns, Park City and The St. Regis Deer Valley offer the perfect blend of small town hospitality paired with big city luxury.

The St. Regis Deer Valley provided a spectacular backdrop for this styled shoot. Shot entirely on film by Lexia Frank Photography, we wanted to incorporate the natural elements with a bit of glam. A style that is the perfect match for the fashionable city couples who chose Park City for their destination weddings. We assembled a dream team of creative partners from as far away as Florida and Oregon to make sure every detail was flawless.

MMD Events designed the most beautiful table with luxurious ruffle linens, rose gold silverware and decorative accents, a romantic mountain-inspired centerpiece of florals and drift wood, antique details, candles, wooden chargers, satin napkins and sequin napkin bands.

A and P Designs created the most beautiful letter pressed invitations and menus to compliment the design.

The gorgeous Reem Acra gown by Blush Bridal Sarasota added to the elegance and was a perfect compliment to the destination.

We wanted to create a piece of work that demonstrates how you can utilize the natural beauty of the surroundings and this spectacular venue to bring a soft, romantic glamour to the mountains.

Early Morning Bar Harbor Engagement Session

It’s no secret that Bar Harbor holds a seriously special place in my heart (it is after all where my husband proposed), so in all honestly this engagement session is primed to be my new favorite. Combining a love for nature with the lens of The Ganeys, it’s serene meets seriously sweet and we’ve got every bit of the beauty waiting for you in The Vault!

From the Bride…We love the outdoors, and we so appreciate the natural beauty of our national parks that we wanted to do our engagement shoot in one of them. Since we only had a couple days to get away and we’d never been before, we chose Acadia because of it’s proximity to Washington, DC, where we live. We wanted to celebrate Acadia’s unique charm of being the first place the sunlight hits the continental U. S., so we did our photo shoot in the morning after watching the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain. We were not disappointed!! We loved getting to capture our special moments in such a gorgeous place where we felt at home in the outdoors, and Emily and Thomas made the entire engagement session not only easy, but fun! We feel like we went on a mini-vacation with old friends and now have beautiful pictures to share!

The West Becomes A Romantic Oasis with this Elegant Wedding Inspiration

I wouldn’t really describe myself as a “rustic” person so I never felt the need to venture out to the “wild, wild west” but there has been a major change of heart around here and it’s all due to The Ranch at Rock Creek. This gem of a venue is an escape from reality and the wedding wonders created here never fail to leave us breathless. Case in point: this shoot planned by Habitat Events. Simply Sarah captured the rustic elegant details and the windswept romance between these two – head to our Vault for it all!

From Simply Sarah Photography… This lovely wedding editorial was designed by Simply Sarah Photography and Habitat Events to show off the beauty that is early fall in Montana. The Ranch at Rock Creek created the perfect backdrop and Jenny of Habitat Events created an elegant, rustic affair for our sweet couple Katie and Adam.

From Jennifer with Habitat EventsThe Ranch at the Rock Creek is one of the loveliest places on earth, especially during the fall months! The Ranch has such a relaxed and authentic Montana vibe we wanted to mirror that sentiment in the floral and decorative touches we brought to the shoot. The ceremony site is situated in one of the prettiest prairies, which we wanted to extend to the arch by covering it in soft flowy pampas grass and delicate vines to make it feel as though it was an extension of the tall grasses and aspens groves behind it. The table for two is set on the tippy top of a mountain, aptly named, The Top of the World. The 360 degree views of the Pintler Mountains makes for the most stunning dining views anyone could ask for! The vendor team on this shoot was an absolute dream to collaborate with; it is one of our very favorite intimate editorials to date!

5 Ways to Impress Your Guests this Thanksgiving

From inspiration for tablescaping your way to a gorgeous Thanksgiving dinner (ahem we have three different ways of doing just that) to a punch list of to-do items that will 100% impress your guests this holiday, Becky of Daly Digs is spilling the details for whipping that dinner table into the ultimate shape. We may be partial to pink and gold but the whole crew is pretty dang gorgeous. See so much more captured by Jacqui Cole in the vault.

I dreamt of creating three very different and non-traditional tablescapes for Thanksgiving inspiration to show that Thanksgiving and fall entertaining doesn’t have to be limited to hues of orange, yellow and red. I couldn’t stop at one concept, so decided to do “one table, three ways,” in which I would showcase one table, decorated three distinct ways, each with its own color scheme, style and seating. We are so honored to have teamed up with Le Creuset to showcase their beautiful enameled cast iron cookware in colors to compliment each tablescape.

Inspired by Seasonal Vegetables

The green table with pops of deep purple was inspired by seasonal vegetables including purple sweet potatoes and purple corn. The deep purple hues paired beautifully with green gourds and artichokes and silver accents and the florals featured succulents and garden roses.

This table has a boho feel and featured a macramé runner for texture and bohemian-inspired menus. The sisal colored Le Creuset braiser featured maple bacon Brussels sprouts and the mini white Le Creuset cocottes at each place setting were perfect for the purple sweet potato soup. Apple rosemary bourbon cocktails were displayed on a vintage silver tray.

Inspired by Dramatic, Deep Hues

For the burgundy and black table, I wanted to create a romantic, dramatic table with taper candles bold colors. This table, a dramatic departure from the other two tables, featured a stunning floral centerpiece, with pomegranates and berries sprinkled along the center of the table.

Black plates, matte black flatware, and black linen napkins tied in silk ribbon served as place settings with red pears adorned with small “be thankful” banners. A black Le Creuset Dutch oven, ginger beet martinis and cranberry pomegranate bruschetta complimented the color scheme and polished off the vision.

Inspired by Pretty Pastel + Gold

The soft pink and peach table was inspired by pale-peach hued gourds, which were paired with classic gold accents, soft linen and patterned glass dinnerware to create a soft and organic, yet elegant tablescape. A gold painted pumpkin served as the vessel for delicate hydrangea and pink roses and the table was adorned with several pumpkins and gourds in shades of ivory, pink and peach.

Two Le Creuset Dutch ovens in hibiscus pink complimented the color scheme and showcased the peach-glazed pork dish beautifully. Pink dip-dyed menus with gold calligraphy and deckle edges sat atop glass dinnerware with gold flatware to polish off the look. The table featured rosé poached pears for dessert and a sparkling peach pomegranate Bellini for guests to sip.

5 Ways to Impress Your Guests this Thanksgiving

Incorporate stationery. Sending your guests an invitation to Thanksgiving dinner or using a printed menu and/or place cards is an affordable way to make your Thanksgiving gathering even more special. Place cards and menus can be easily created on your own, or etsy has very affordable, convenient printable options. If you’d like to take a step further, order custom calligraphy menus for each place setting or even 1-2 to place on your Thanksgiving table.

Greet guests with a signature cocktail. Extra points if the cocktail compliments the color scheme of your tablescape and décor. Try a unique cocktail like on of ours: a ginger beet martini, apple rosemary bourbon or a pear Bellini.

Have some appetizers or small bites ready for your guests to snack on when they arrive. Choose appetizers can be prepped the day before. A simple charcuterie board or easy bites like our cranberry pomegranate bruschetta are perfect ideas to hold your guests over until dinner.

Bring in some florals. A floral centerpiece is always a nice touch to any thanksgiving table. However, you don’t have to order an arrangement from a florist to make your table look nice. Use flowers from your local supermarket and combine with produce. You can use gourds, pumpkins, pomegranates or artichokes coupled with greenery to add some texture and color.

Set the table. A beautiful tablescape does not have to be expensive or take a lot of time. Start by adding texture with a table runner or linen. Build from there by adding your centerpiece or floral arrangements, seasonal gourds or vegetables. Build your place settings by layering a dinner plate atop a charger or place mat, add flatware and linen napkins. Finish off with extra decorative elements like stationery and candles.

Classic DC Wedding Just Blocks From the White House!

Imagine a Washington DC wedding that’s classic as can be, set just down the block from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Rachel and Tommy took that vision and ran with it, bringing on some amazing vendors like Kate Ignatowski, Federal City Caterers, Amie Decker Beauty, Buttercream Bakeshop and Joanna August, just to name a few. Pop to the gallery for even more imagery to inspire.

From Kate Ignatowski PhotographyRachel and Tommy threw a classic DC affair full of elegant details – all just a couple blocks from the White House. From the exquisite design in the Hay-Adams where Rachel had her finishing touches to the church where they said the vows, full of presidential history.

As the long summer sun started to set, everyone gathered in the courtyard of the Decatur House for cocktails and conversation – it really was a sophisticated oasis in the city. Their party went into the night with dancing and soulful live music. It was my absolute pleasure getting to work with these two very sweet people and their families!

Pink Peonies For a Classic Church Wedding

Any wedding that includes pink peonies and roses as gorgeous as these is a total winner in my book. Luckily the floral geniuses of Chandelabra felt the same and built a bridal bouquet that totally stole the show. Go have a peek in the gallery from Jo Ashworth Photography!

From Chandelabra Weddings and EventsRoseanne and Alex were living in Singapore and planning their wedding in Perth, Australia. It was going to be an international affair with visitors from the UK and Singapore and Roseanne’s family and friends in Perth. As her wedding planner/stylist we had lots of chats and photos shared on WhatsApp and a Pinterest board.

The ceremony was held in the beautiful old Catholic church of Saint Columba in South Perth. The picturesque church has an outlook over the Swan River with sweeping views back to the Perth city skyline. Sheltered by mature plane trees the light finish of the exterior and architecture of the church is stylish inside and out. The bridal party arrived in vintage Chevrolets and after the ceremony, while their guests were treated to champagne and hors d’oeuvres at a local hotel, they were off to the Perth Zoo to ride on the carousel horses all in the name of photos!

Afterwards, the bridal party arrived by boat to the wharf at the Boatshed Restaurant for their reception. Their guests were once again treated to views over the Perth skyline and the beautiful Swan River. The reception decor brief from the bride was to create a romantic, relaxed and glowing ambience which we achieved with lush blooms in blush and lipstick pink roses, full hydrangea blooms with a touch of whimsical foliage escaping from the vintage silver mercury glass vases and illuminated by slim candles in antique silver candelabras.

Table numbers were replaced with the names of countries and cities familiar to the guests. The seating plan was a vintage map of the world. They were entertained during dinner with moody acoustics guitar by Reilly Craig, and after dancing the night away, it was all aboard a party boat to take them through to the early hours!
