Picnics + Proposals For One Sweet Couple

With the help of Wayfair, we have an engagement scene straight out of a dream, with sips, snacks and a picnic setup that’s near perfect. Ruth Eileen captured all the cute details and the adorable couple celebrating the start of their happily ever after. With a proposal reenactment for the camera’s sake and lots of sweet kisses, this shoot is sure to make your Sunday! See every moment in our Vault right here!

From the Couple… Our story began on a chilly day in January 2009 at Bowling Green State University, Ohio. We were both juniors in college and had several mutual friends – though unaware of the fact at that time. Kim, a fearless soul in a petite frame thought it would be funny to show up to the “guys house” in a youth size onesie – where Kevin happened to be. While Kim thought little of the exchanged hello and short amount of time they spent talking, she made a lasting first impression on Kevin. A few weeks later we ran into each other again at a Valentine’s Day party at another mutual friend’s house where we discovered our special connection and mutual interests in hockey, wine… and onesies.

After graduation, we moved in together and began life in the real world. Living in a big city, we loved planning weekend getaways to clear their minds, drink wine and enjoy the outdoors uninterrupted. Over the course of six years, our families became just as tight-knit as our bond and the conversation of getting married was always brought up. Although Kim would routinely dismiss the uncertainty in a laughing matter, Kevin was always poised – having it all planned out.

One weekend, Kevin organized a trip to spend the weekend at an unoccupied relative’s home with the plan to finally pop the question. Kevin had always envisioned a private, laid back and unexpected proposal so he knew this getaway would be the perfect opportunity to bring this vision to life. The weekend was peaceful and uneventful – just how they liked it – until Sunday arrived. After breakfast, Kevin asked Kim if she would like to take a walk around the pond nearby. Kevin began talking about their relationship and his excitement for their future as he turned around and got down on one knee. Kim thought Kevin was joking around and started laughing until he pulled the ring from his pocket. The laughs turned to tears as Kim realized what was actually happening.

We relived our proposal – this time with family nearby – in Boston, Massachusetts for our engagement photos. True to form, we’re planning their wedding at a local winery in Leesburg, Virginia with close friends and family.

Saturday Morning Movie: One Thousand Cranes for Love

There’s a Japanese legend that says that if you fold one thousand origami cranes, the Gods will grant you a wish. And so, with that in mind, Sebastian and Eleni started folding little birds in preparation for their wedding day. And when they said “I do,” they folded the 1,000th one. We’re not sure what that big wish was, but we’re pretty sure it came true – and lucky for us, Cinema of Poetry captured the magic live!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/182625902 600 338]

From Cinema of Poetry… This is the love story of Sebastian and Eleni. This is a story about folding one thousand origami cranes. A story about holding hands. A story about love and togetherness. This is the wedding of Sebleni. From Freiburg and Kimolos to London. Around the world, and then back to Athens. Gathering people from all around the globe to witness the exchange of vows of love and affection, in the breathtaking scenery of Lake Vouliagmeni, and then party all together till the morning.

An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds one thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by the Gods. Sebastian and Eleni, planned their wedding from London, where they live, and the preparations included a lot of DIY. They folded 999 origami cranes, leaving the last crane for their wedding ceremony. Receiving guests from all over the world, they organized and prepared many travel decorations by themselves for the reception, as well as a photo tree with photos from all their guests. The giveaways and invitations were also made by the couple with help from Thefty (for the logo) and Etsy/notonthehighstreet/amazon/paperchase (for the deco).

The whole ceremony was written by their close friend Patrick, and the couple wrote their own vows. All the songs in the ceremony and the first dance were from bands they have seen together in the past. The table names were of cities/places they have traveled to together as well.

It was a very emotional ceremony, in a unique location, full of energy and character, brought together two families originating, respectively, from Germany and Greece, and hosted friends from at least 11 countries from all over the world.

The wedding video tells the story of this couple, and how from Sebastian and Eleni, how they became “Sebleni”.

A classic Fall Recipe that Should Be in Everyone’s Baking Arsenal

Breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert…I am convinced this pumpkin bread recipe works for all such eating situations. Torrey Fox of Tiny Kitchen is sharing this classic of all classics and it’s one that should most certainly be in your baking arsenal. It pairs beautifully with a little butter and coffee. Trust. Psst…find more delicious dessert ideas right this way.

From Torrey Fox of Tiny Kitchen Veronica Arrieta of the Four Threads blog decided to do a festive cooking day together to celebrate fall. We called it our Martha Stewart day. She is always bragging about her pumpkin bread so I knew that’s what I wanted to make.

I had found these amazing fall table linens at World Market and wanted to design a table spread around them. The cuts of berries added that final touch I was looking for to make it perfectly festive.

Classic Pumpkin Bread
prep time
15 Minute/s
cook time
1 Hour/s 5 Minute/s
total time
1 Hour/s 20 Minute/s
Serves 0Ingredients
  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 cups pumpkin puree (fresh or canned)
  • 1/4 cup milk (almond milk as a substitution)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil or canola oil
Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Spray a 9x5 inch loaf pan with non-stick spray. Set aside
  3. In a large bowl whisk the flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon together. In a separate bowl mix together the pumpkin, oil and milk.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold together with a spoon. Be careful not to over mix.
  5. Pour the batter into your prepped bread pan. Bake for 60-65 minutes. I like to cover the pumpkin bread with tin foil half way through the baking process as to not brown the top of the bread too much.
  6. Allow the bread to cool fully before popping it out to slice and serve!

#SMPWedding101 – Planning a Destination Elopement

Destination elopements are the ultimate in intimacy and romance but just because you don’t have a crowd doesn’t mean it can’t be a bit tricky to arrange! It still takes plenty of planning but where to begin? We have Santorini Glam Weddings here, who knows a thing or two about planning special days, giving guidance on ensuring your private party is everything you dreamed of and more!

Choose the Right Location

Elopements usually go hand in hand with honeymoons, so the location is important! My opinion in regards to the perfect location might be a bit biased, but I don’t think anyone would disagree with me in saying that Santorini is one of the most romantic places on earth! My tip: avoid the month of August as it is the warmest and most crowded month. September is always better!

Find the Right Vendors

Just because it’s an intimate wedding doesn’t mean you’re going to be on your own. The wedding planner and photographer are important! You will be spending the entire day with them, they’ll be witnessing your wedding and sharing this memory with you. My tip: Always ask for a Skype call before you go ahead booking these two vendors to make sure that they are the perfect person for you and your day. Local vendors are always more preferable as they know all the pros and cons of the place your are going to as well!

Venue Essentials

Elopements make the venue selection much easier, as you do not have to think about common logistics like guests capacity, venue access, etc. It can take place anywhere you want if it’s just the two of you and a handful of others! My tip: Santorini is full of beautiful hotels with balconies and terraces with Caldera views perfect for the ceremony. Before booking a hotel ask about their wedding options and combine your accommodation with the wedding ceremony. The areas of Imerovigli and Firostefani are the best!

Details Details Details!

Just because it’s only going to be the two of you doesn’t mean that the day isn’t special or you don’t get to have what you always dreamed of; it’s still your wedding! Getting a bridal bouquet, decorating the wedding venue, and arranging a romantic dinner to end your day is the best way to go. Don’t forget to add your personal touch with everything you do!

Photo Musts!

You want to share your story with your friends and family and make them feel like they were there with you. Book the photographer for at least five hours to have time to capture everything, from preparation and details (1 hour), first look and the ceremony (30 minutes), portraits at various spots (3 hours) and cake cutting and dinner (30 minutes). My tip: surprise your fiancee with a boudoir photoshoot before the ceremony! Ask to meet the photographer a day before the wedding; it will make you (and most importantly your fiancee) feel more relaxed on the wedding day.

Elopement Advice: Santorini Glam Weddings

By Bike + Boat, Amsterdam Is Bursting With Charm

Whether by bike or boat, Amsterdam is full of undeniable charm and Audra Wrisley captured this couple entertaining both adorable modes of transportation – all in our Vault right this way! From holding onto each other atop a Dutch bicycle to sipping wine as they soaked up the sights, these two give a whole new meaning to blissfully in love.

From Audra Wrisley Photography… Andrea and her boyfriend of many years, Robbert, finished their studies in New York City a few years ago, and moved back to their native Amsterdam to work in the city’s vibrant advertising world. Amazingly these two still find time to also work on personal projects together, and they’ve traveled the country promoting an incredible documentary they released last year.

For their shoot we decided to start at one of their favorite coffee places, not far from the old city center. Afterwards, they hopped on their Dutch bicycle together to a small boat that we used to explore the Amsterdam’s incredible maze of canals. We navigated our way under many of the city’s countless bridges (apparently there are three times more than in Venice!), and captured this sweet couple together. Sunny afternoons in the Netherlands go hand in hand with a glass of rosé, and cheese platters are pretty much always mandatory, regardless of the weather.

It was a perfect afternoon with this beautiful happy couple, and we feel so lucky to have captured their love!

You’d Never Guess This Indoor Wedding Was Their Backup Rain Plan

For those that feel a little rain will ruin your big day, allow us to showcase the prettiest villa wedding that just so happened to be a backup plan. For it was a flawless ‘Plan B’ that quickly had this couple covered, meaning the ceremony moved indoors (which turned out totally romantic) and they forwent alfresco for covered candlelight. It’s incredibly beautiful and truly convincing that love can brave any storm and we’ve got it all captured by Brosnan Photographic in The Vault!

MustWatch_swash-01

[iframe https://player.vimeo.com/video/187526532 600 312]

From Brosnan PhotographicAllison and Tim chose to get married in the South of France at a beautiful private villa just outside Grasse. Unfortunately, as the weather turned to rain the morning of the wedding a quick back up plan was put into place and the ceremony and reception were moved to covered areas in the pool house which actually worked a treat. By the end of the day the sun came out for a beautiful sun setting session. France offers amazing light for portraits.

From the Bride… Our journey began as neighbors when Allison, the bride, was 11 years old and Tim, the groom, was 13. We first officially met playing ‘Man Hunt’ in our neighborhood, and years later in high school Tim AIM messaged Allison “Will you go out with me ;)” and our love story began! A huge part of our journey together has revolved around adventure and travel. Between living in New England, New York, Florida, and Sydney Australia we have made countless homes but have always known our true home is wherever we are together. We have traveled around the world creating our love story, so an intimate destination wedding was a natural choice for us. The romance, color palette, and timelessness of the South of France drew us to the location. Our venue, Villa Le Castelet, nestled into the hillside of the Cote d’Azur surrounded by olive trees, vineyards, and citrus trees with stunning views of the valley, became the stunning backdrop for our celebration.

Planning our wedding while living in Australia was daunting, but we found the perfect company in Marie-Emilie and her team at Mon Plus Beau Jour to ease the stress. Marie-Emilie captured our essence in all the details, seamlessly organized our perfect day, and helped gather the literal Dream Team of wedding vendors. We could not have celebrated our wedding with such joy and effortlessness without the help of Marie-Emile, her team, and all the vendors we had the pleasure of being surrounded by on that day.

We chose the talented Christina from Brosnan Photographic to photograph our wedding. Christina’s photographs encapsulate the soft and romantic light that the South of France provides and each image is quite possibly more beautiful than the next. Her calm nature and approach left us feeling relaxed, which led to stunning photographs portraying our true selves. Sebastian from MotionCraft Creative complimented Christina’s photography with artistic and masterful cinematography…and let’s not forget his video drone that stole the show! Sebastian’s unobtrusive approach allowed for great candid moments.

We have the absolute best friends and family who flew from all parts of the world to celebrate our love, and we are forever grateful to everyone who took this journey with us. We spent an unforgettable week at Villa Le Castelet together, every day filled with sunshine. However, rain storms rolled in the morning of our wedding and we lost power in the afternoon while my ‘maids were getting their hair done (!), but that didn’t stop us! Who doesn’t like dancing in the rain?! They say you can’t untie a wet knot, so we channeled positive energy to create an even more beautiful day than originally planned.

Marie-Emilie swiftly and seamlessly put into place our “rain plan”. Our lovely florists, Studio Mondine, transformed a covered terrace on the villa property into a whimsical and romantic ceremony venue. White chairs lined with greenery complimented the stone walls of the terrace, leading to a perfect arbor of greenery to complete the intimate space. It was important for Tim and I to personalize our ceremony, so having Tim’s father as our celebrant allowed for the dialogue to be candid, thoughtful, and full of memories. We hand picked instrumental songs – including the theme song of “Gladiator”, our favorite movie, which was perfectly executed by a pianist and violinist while Tim stood with his groomsmen. “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles played as I turned the corner arm in arm with my dad, and quite literally the sun came out from behind the clouds at that moment. It was epic and magical.

Cocktail hour was held by the pool and our ears were filled with the angelic voice of Lizzy Parks accompanied by her talented musicians. Scrumptious canapes and cocktails by the spectacular team from Chef a Domicile were served in a wonderfully bright and fun set up by Mon Plus Beau Jour with a fresh fruit market stand as our escort display.

Our dinner was held downstairs under another stone clad terrace that was transformed into the most elegant, romantic, and intimate setting thanks to our dream team. Every detail was in place with stunning floral arrangements of blush, cream, soft greenery and a pop of yellow complimented by candlelight and filled with love! We were lucky to spend the week eating delicious meals prepared by Lori and her team at Chef a Domicile, and even more lucky that Lori and her staff were more than caterers. They were friends, helpers, and joy bringers and the beautiful meal they served for our wedding was the perfect culmination of all their efforts. We for-went a traditional wedding cake and instead “cut the cheese” – our cake was made of cheese wheels. The perfect late night snack – am I right? Parfait!

Let’s not forget the party! DJ Thomas Dusseune brought down the house spinning music from all decades to create the perfect atmosphere. Our first dance transitioned from Otis Redding into Michael Jackson -inviting the dancing machines that are our friends and family to the dance floor! It was the perfect ending to this magical adventure. Our friends and family cannot stop talking about every single vendor – from the food, the decor, the flow, the detail, the music – it was all a hit. As Marie-Emilie put quite eloquently “Rain cultivates growth in all things” and our wedding day, although full of rain, cultivated growth in our friendships, our love, and our marriage. We know that we will continue grow together with joy, romance, and of course adventure.

Three Ways to Style the Perfect California Wedding

Brace yourselves, loves. Today is awesome. That’s because we’re featuring not one, not two, but THREE fabulous ways to style your perfect California wedding. Think gorgeous gowns from Haute Bride, amazing linens from La Tavola and the prettiest Holman Ranch backdrop you’ll ever see, all wrapped up in summer, winter and Italian-styled inspo. Rahel Menig captured every beautiful moment, and THE VAULT? An absolute must-see.

COZY WINTER PARTY

From Rahel Menig Photography… With this shoot, Joann and I wanted to create three distinct versions of a beautiful California wedding. Holman Ranch was the perfect backdrop to put together our vision and helped create that European feel we were after.

The rosy colors of the summer idea create a lush, yet light-hearted atmosphere. To make the table feel super inviting and more relaxed, we added raspberries for the guests to enjoy!

The white and green colors combined with darling bistro chairs remind of a celebration somewhere in Italy. It’s fresh, timeless and oh so inviting.

Lastly we wanted to create a more cozy, winter themed table. The grey linens in combination with antlers and dark blue berries tone it down, perfectly ready for a wedding during the colder months.

5 Entertaining Tips for Making this Holiday Season Sparkle

Society Social Queen Bee, Roxy Te Owens, is a mastermind of entertaining and all the essentials that go with it. You know, the bar carts and the tipples, and other pretty accoutrements. So, of course, she is our go-to gal when it comes to hosting holiday festivities. From seasonal decorating tips to keeping your guests entertained, Roxy has the 5 essentials to making this holiday season sparkle.

Seasonal decorating doesn’t have to be expensive! Repurpose decor! For example, I love how these pumpkins can transition from Halloween to Thanksgiving with a little paint. A simple DIY can also be a fun activity to do with friends and family which is what the holidays are all about!

Try a non-traditional color palette for a soft and sophisticated look. We opted for paler versions of the Thanksgiving traditional oranges, purples, and yellows then topped it them off with matching pumpkins for sure fire festive flair.

With the holiday season on the verge of full swing, make sure your bar cart is stocked and ready for planned parties and last minute guests alike. All you need are a few classic spirits and you’ll be the hostess with her entertaining arsenal at the ready!

Serve what you love! I’m absolutely one for a traditional Thanksgiving feast with turkey and all the fixings but being Asian American it’s always been fun for us to incorporate dishes that are a part of our family’s heritage. Our Thanksgiving menu is always the best of both worlds like this turkey fried rice!

Be ready with a fun group activity. Thanksgiving is often a full day affair so it’s always a good idea to think of activities to fill the time leading up to and after the feast. I love the idea of this trivia game that would be perfect for a family or friendsgiving!

Modern San Diego Wedding Complete With One Amazing Groomsmen Dance

I promise to not keep score… even when I’m winning.” “And I promise to love you… even when I don’t like you.” And that’s why I love these two; they’re real. And every bit of their beautiful wedding showcased their realness, and their undeniable love for each other. Add in one heck of a dance by the groomsmen and this film by Amari Productions takes the cake. Kick off the weekend right with their smooth moves and this crazy love story!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/153043431 600 338]

From Amari ProductionsWhen members of the bridal party get together for a choreographed dance, everyone is in for a good time. Since the stipulation for inclusion was “Are you in the bridal party?” and not “Can you dance?”, there’s always a fair amount of self deprecation, improvised solos, and laughter. So, when we saw that the groomsmen had scheduled a dance for Mike and Ashley’s reception, we knew what to expect, and were excited to capture the fun.

But then, as I went to mic Mike before the ceremony, I stumbled upon them rehearsing. I was in total awe, and that is not hyperbole. So You Think You Can Dance? Yes. The answer is yes. They can.

From the Bride… When we first sat down to plan our wedding, the one thing we both said was most important to us was that guests walked away from the night feeling so much love and saying that was the best party they’ve ever been too! From there it wasn’t too hard to pick a destination like San Diego and a venue like the New Children’s Museum. It was the perfect place that blended our wedding wishes of modern, unique and fun. From cotton candy machines and late night pizza delivery to a completely choreographed groomsman dance, it was truly an unforgettable evening!

A Wedding Planner Gets Married in a New York Minute!

When Sarah of Brilliant Event Planning set out to plan her own wedding day, she could only describe the feeling as completely surreal. She took her years worth of experience and deep connections in the industry to design a rooftop NYC “I do” with incredible vendors behind it. Scroll below for links to Sarah’s own dream team, including photos by Craig Paulson and cinematography by Orange Films.

From the Bride…What is it like for a wedding planner to get married? Surreal! After planning so many different types of weddings, it’s hard to decide what you like best. All we knew was that we wanted it to feel happy, fun, and intimate – and it was! There was a ton of laughter and we have never felt more loved!

We said our “I do’s” on the rooftop. The inspiration for the ceremony backdrop was climbing bougainvillea, but we think that Jessie from Rountree Flowers made something that’s better than the real thing! We were blown away when we walked down the aisle! When it came to stationery, we had the added challenge of needing things to be bilingual. Caitlin from Regas came up with the a fun, creative way to accomplish that – little scroll programs that could incorporate both English and Russian without needing to do a traditional folding program.

We ended up catching the last of the sunshine and by the time guests were taking their seats, the rain was really coming down! As guests walked into the reception, they took escort tiles to find their seats. One of my clients inspired me to try my own calligraphy (you know who you are!) and I ended up doing all of the calligraphy on the tiles myself. It was quite the undertaking! The dinner tables were designed in a “shades of blue” palette – vintage blue and white China, dusty blue candles, and menus with a pale blue letterpress front. I really struggled to find runners in just the right shade of blue and an airy enough material, so we actually made the runners out of cheesecloth that we dyed. Misha and I looked like Smurfs for days!

Before we knew it, we were cutting the wedding cake and dancing the final song of the night! And boy did our family and friends dance! The next day we were heading to Peru for our honeymoon and wishing we could do it all again! We are so grateful for our incredible vendors and were so lucky to have them on our team!

We’re Convinced this Dream Kitchen Would Channel our Inner Ina Garten

You may know Becki Owens from her crazy gorgeous instagram. If not, it’s definitely one to bookmark. Or maybe you’ve spotted her stunning interiors floating around the internet. Her latest project is right in keeping with all that pretty. A bright white kitchen sprinkled with modern touches is the name of this game. Read up on her inspiration below and for more from this home, tour the master bath.

A little bit more about Becki Owens… As a little girl I played with color and design, helping my Dad mix and create color in his paint store. I watched closely as my parents remodeled homes and knew that is what I wanted to do.

I’ve been transforming spaces ever since. After getting my degree, I worked for Denton House in Salt Lake City. My husband and I relocated to Orange County, where I started designing Model homes for large developments.

For a while I stopped designing and had 2 of my 4 children. Later, my husband and I started a business staging homes, which motivated me to focus on residential design.

From kitchen makeovers, to new builds, I’m passionate about the environments I create. Simple, clean, elegant are words that inspire me every day. I hope you enjoy exploring my projects and some of my favorite finds along the way.

From the Bride…When we planned our wedding we wanted it to feel like us. The Foundry was the first and last venue we looked at! It had the perfect balance of an Industrial and garden-like space with the ivy covered exposed brick. In the summer the space transforms into a magical oasis overlooking the city.

We opted for an intimate ceremony in the green house followed by a cocktail hour with all our friends and family. Since we are both foodies the meal was such an important aspect of the night. There was a huge emphasis on local, simple food that felt like home cooking. Dinner was served family style under the bridge overlooking the Manhattan Skyline. It was a perfect summer night that allowed for the tent lining to be taken down and we could be immersed in the urban garden. The dinner setting was whimsical in every sense. The Foundry already had so much lush greenery and we emphasized it with beautiful, wild flowers arrangements that made the entire space feel both rustic and chic. It felt like a summer garden party with pops of pale pink, blue and gold.

For the cocktails we choose a sweet pink mix of grapefruit, elderflower with a shot of fresh beet juice called Drop the Beet as well as Back that Hass Up, a spicy creamy combo made with avocado. For our dessert bar we were inspired by our favorite sweets from trips we had taken together. The Nutella from our breakfast spreads in Turkey, macaroons from Paris, chocolate chip cookies from when we got engaged in Maine. We chose a hazelnut cake with layers of Nutella and salted caramel butter cream as well as a vanilla cake with lemon butter cream and cream cheese frosting. We also had a cookie bar with cookies shots filled with vanilla milk. Flourless chocolate pecan cookies and assorted pastel macaroons.

We wanted everything to feel natural and not overdone. The ceremony, dinner, dessert, the space and the way I wanted myself to look. My dress was a beautiful Vera Wang that I didn’t want to overpower. I had my hair pulled back in a simple bun, natural and soft makeup and no jewelry but our new wedding bands. The bridesmaids and groomsmen played perfectly off of each other and the space in rose hued gowns and blue suits.

The excitement of the night made it go by so quickly. After the speeches were given and the meal was served, we all danced the night away inside. One of the most memorable parts of the night was seeing how happy my husband was and dancing with all of our friends and family. It was a perfect evening that we will never forget.

Their Classic Spring Wedding Incorporated Korean Tradition

We may be approaching winter in a matter of weeks but this wedding designed by So Happi Together has me dreaming of sunny spring days. It strikes the perfect balance of modern and timeless, with thoughtful nods to the couple’s Korean heritage. “Both our moms wore traditional Korean dresses, called Hanbok, that were color coordinated and held hands while walking down the aisle,” said the bride. Watch it all unfold in the gallery by Esther Sun.

From the Bride…Rewind 5 years from now – Chris and I both sitting at dinner with our mutual friend Tiffany, who’s been wanting to set us up for months. We all thought it will just be another fling. Who would’ve thought after that night, we would date for 4 years, half of which were long distance in different countries, fall in love, and would decide to take that first step to one of the biggest commitments of our lives. We got engaged!

First comes engagement, then comes wedding planning. I knew booking a vendor is the first thing I should check off my list and I knew exactly what I wanted for my wedding. Outdoor greenery, sunlight, garden, someplace captivating yet not too extravagant, someplace grand but cozy. Then I realized my criteria is not the easiest to find especially to find all in one venue…after researching over 100 venues online I was so close to telling myself, I can’t have it all. I need to give up a few of my wants in order to find a venue. Then, we found Kohl Mansion. We visited the venue right away and oh my…everything we want in one place! Beautiful brick walls, an enchanting black and white room, garden filled with roses, the library room, that grand staircase, and so much more than what I envisioned!

Once the venue was set, everything else fell into place. We wanted the wedding to have a soft and romantic feel but balanced with clean and modern lines to be timeless. The color palette that Nancy, our wonderful planner, put together for us was perfect. Different shades of greys, blush, green, muted gold, with grey/black accents. And the outdoor lawn was just so amazing for our ceremony and the cocktail hour after surrounding the fountain. Both of our families are Korean, so it was also important to us to have a part of our culture in our wedding. Both our moms wore custom made traditional Korean dresses, called Hanbok, that were color coordinated, and they held hands while walking down the aisle. That was definitely one of my favorite parts of the wedding.

Now the reception! We loved the overall vibe of intimacy and coziness that was created from such a grand hallway. Candle lights, flowers, the emotional speeches, and all our loved ones altogether just brought out all the feels of that night. So many people reminded us before the wedding to enjoy the day, and oh yes we did. We had so much fun and enjoyed every second of our perfect wedding. It was definitely a lot of hard work and countless stressful days and nights, but it was all worth it. It is a day that we will forever look back on and will always bring the biggest smile to our face.

The Most Epic Groomsmen Dance Ever

Sure, we’ve seen choreographed wedding dance routines on our favorite sitcoms but come one, have you ever seen a REAL wedding pull it off? Look no further folks. These groomsmen hit it out of the park with this epic show for all the guests – and the lucky new Bride – and Amari Productions captured it all on camera. This is not to be missed! (See even more moments from this modern wedding right here!)

From Amari ProductionsWhen members of the bridal party get together for a choreographed dance, everyone is in for a good time. Since the stipulation for inclusion is “Are you in the bridal party?” and not “Can you dance?”, there’s always a fair amount of self deprecation, improvised solos, and laughter. They can.

A Sweet Southern Wedding That’s Totally Intimate

One thing we know for absolute certain is this: if you have Graham Terhune Photography behind the lens on your wedding day, you’re in for really really good things. Just ask Kathyrn and Trevor (the lovely couple featured below) and they’re sure to reiterate the same sentiment. All you have to do is take on peek at The Vault to fully understand what we’re talking about!

From the Bride…Trevor and I are consummate networkers in Metro Atlanta, so it’s only fitting that we met at a young professionals networking event many years ago. We didn’t have a fairytale start to our relationship, as we didn’t exactly like each other when we first met (like not at all). Our relationship quickly grew into a dear friendship and stayed that way for months. One day, Trevor caught me off guard and told me I had ruined him from dating other women and that I needed to put him out of his misery so he could move on. Let’s just say he’s a good salesman and convinced me to go on a first date! That was over four years ago and the best decision I ever made. I truly married my best friend and couldn’t be more blessed and grateful if I tried.

Our primary focus during the wedding planning process was to find ways to incorporate personal touches – things that are just us! From brewing our own beer for the rehearsal dinner with a local brewery, having our best friend officiate our wedding, groom drum solos to ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, down to every decorative detail, we can confidently say that the whole weekend looked and felt like the couple we truly are. That is 100% thanks to our incredible vendors and wedding planner!

We absolutely fell in love with the beautiful, natural landscape at Oldfield Club. It allowed us to escape from city life and have all of our favorite people in once place for three full days. Unplugged. Nothing to do but spend time with each other. Beautiful sunsets. Yoga on the lawn. Laughter and new friendships. Great food and wine and live music. And most importantly, so much love.

Despite the hustle and bustle of the weekend, Trevor and I did what we do best – put each other first, fully embraced the gift of each other’s love and commitment, and appreciated the incredible blessings that are our family and friends.

This Couple Met at the Airport and Married in a Castle

I’m a big believer in fate and in case you aren’t, you might want to read over Amanda and Daniel’s love story. Because these two? Well, the just so happened to find love at the airport and if that doesn’t make you want to brave the lines for TSA, then maybe the fact that their love story came full circle at a castle in Germany will. Complete with Kibogo Photography, it’s a fairytale ending that’s just waiting for you to unfold in The Vault!

From Kibogo PhotographyAmanda and Daniel’s elegant wedding was everything wedding dreams are made of. Even from their serendipitous first meeting (in an airport no less!) all the way from their fairytale wedding in a German castle….

This beautiful couple currently resides in California but decided to marry in this incredible castle named Schloss Kronberg as groom Daniel and his family are originally from here. This castle felt like a dream – in fact, it felt almost like a Tuscan villa. Every moment was memorable, but what I remembered the most was the beautifully emotional moments, especially between the bride and father of the bride. Be sure to take a good look at the sweet moments between the two, there was not a single dry eye.
