What do you get when you combine the vibes of Old World Europe with the modern, chic design sensibilities of Eventi Floral & Events? This inspiration shoot, that’s what. Go ahead and get comfortable, because we’re pretty sure you’ll want to stay in this gallery a good, long while.

From Eventi Floral & Events… We went into the shoot dreaming of Old World Europe peppered with modern touches so the Tuscan feel of Stone Tower Winery was the perfect location. The loose and organic bridal bouquet, the lace detailing on the dress, and the embroidered suede ballet flats kept things soft and romantic.

At the same time, we wanted to anchor the tablescape so we used a heavier velvet linen paired with metal and wood café chairs. Some extra special elements were the mini cheesecakes provided by Heirloom DC at each guest’s place settings as well as the vintage knife rests.

The Ultimate Elegant Backyard Wedding Inspiration

My dearest wedding planning pretties, if you’ve ever considered an at-home affair, please, please let this inspiration shoot from Luxe and Luna Couture Events be your guide. It’s all the convincing I need that a backyard wedding can be SO next level. Don’t you agree? This little setup makes me all sorts of happy. Thanks to Shannon Moffit, you can pin your heart out in The Vault.

From Shannon Moffit PhotographyOur team of vendors met on the outskirts of Charlottesville for an editorial inspired by the romantic elegance of a private cottage. Our model wears a delicate beaded gown by Carol Hannah, antique Trumpet and Horn rings, and an Old World inspired crown by Anna Marguerite. She carries an organic bouquet, filled with a medley of hues ranging from yellow to pink to dark plum. A cool breeze rustled through the trees as we wandered the quiet woods around the property. A table was set besides the cottage, covered with loose floral arrangements, antique candles, and light snacks.

From Luxe and LunaWe started by designing around Porter & Ives’ private cottage in rural Virginia. We brought in rich colors and regal details, compliments of Carol Hannah’s beautifully beaded Iolite gown and Anna Marguerite’s Edwardian inspired headpiece. I wanted this editorial to feel like a countryside retreat, so it was only fitting to draw from nature when designing the tablescape. Organic flower arrangements and natural linen draped over the table.

This Ceremony Spot Will Stop Your Heart (It’s that Good!)

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a prettier ceremony spot than what’s tucked inside this rustic Fall wedding. With a lush, floral arch crafted by Sweet Root Village and the wilds of Virginia as the backdrop, this Bride and Groom said “I Do” in the most stunning of ways. From the Photographer… I remember talking on the phone with Stephanie before she booked me and she said, “I knew we would be a perfect fit because of our love for Anthro” I had to laugh because I had just stepped outside of Anthro so I could take her call. Needless to say, we immediately hit it off. From the first time we met in person at their engagement shoot in Central park, I knew Stephanie and Max were the perfect JPP couple. They are fun, loving, kind, and simply adore each other. I LOVE their wedding. It was held at the groom’s family farm and although the rain danced around us all day, it was still so perfect. The styling was perfect, every little detail was a photographer’s dream to photograph. Stephanie’s team was some of the best vendors in the area and I was so privileged to be a part.

Max’s grandfather performed the ceremony and was the cutest little man in the world. Stephanie’s brother honored her late father’s memory by wearing his tie clip. The flowers, her bouquet shot is one of my favs. The dessert bar was so yummy. Stephanie’s dress, Vera Wang, do I say more? Of course I could go and on but I will just let you see for yourself. Oh and make sure you watch the film, it’s the best!

Intimate Fall Wedding in a Gorgeous Garden Setting

This celebration is the epitome of dreamy garden wedding with the prettiest color scheme to boot. It evokes all the beauty of Fall with lush, layered blooms by Amanda Burnette, garland infused everything, cozy, family-style tablescapes and loads of gorgeous imagery by Ashley Cox Photography. From the Bride… Ross and I met at a mutual friend’s going away party here in DC, in early August 2014. He had sauntered over to our group to chat with our friend about her upcoming trip to Zimbabwe and pretty soon it was just the two of us talking and flirting for the rest of the evening. Right away I was charmed by his wit, intelligence, and adorable accent (he’s South African). Not much has changed! A year and a half later, as 2015 started to come to a close, we began talking more earnestly about what kind of wedding we’d like and both felt that an intimate garden wedding seemed to fit our style best – someplace home-like, where guests could stay the night and chat into the wee hours of the morning. We wanted it to feel like a retreat, with some fun activities planned (hello wine tour!) as well as free time to relax. When we visited The Clifton Inn, outside of Charlottesville, we knew it was the perfect fit for us – an easy distance from DC, nestled in the Shenandoah Valley, with an understated elegance and romantic charm. We wanted everything to feel natural but not overdone, and kept that theme in mind when deciding on the other details – from our simple and classic wedding attire, the lush and loose floral design, and a family-style meal served on long king tables. Like any modern bride, I definitely referenced Pinterest for ideas, but once the overall look was established, left many of the details in the capable hands of our amazing vendors. Early on I knew that I wanted to teach myself calligraphy and create all of the wedding paper products, from envelope addressing to the seating chart. The invitation design was a family affair – Ross and I collaborated on the invitation design and his talented mother created the custom watercolor for us, which we used throughout the wedding. However, what I didn’t expect in learning calligraphy was a love for the craft that has grown and developed into a new business for us! One of the more special and bittersweet moments of the day was walking down the aisle with my mom. My father passed away when I was in college, and having my mom next to me was both a moment that reflected our strong relationship, as well as kept him in my thoughts as I went to marry the love of my life. We honored my father in the ceremony by talking about his kind spirit and love of horticulture, which seemed duly appropriate as we said our ‘I do’s’ in the garden. The result was an unforgettable day that perfectly reflected us and our loving community of friends and family.

See How 30-foot Trees Transformed a Reception Space!

Nobody, and I mean nobody, designs a wedding quite like Easton Events and this beauty of a day is the perfect example. Wanting a more intimate feel to the reception space, they brought in 30-foot trees for a cozy, woodland vibe…but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Southern Blooms by Pat’s Floral Design, The Left Handed Calligrapher, La Tavola and so many vendors brought their A-game to Jen and Shane’s wedding design and the payoff was major. From Easton Events… Jen and Shane, both law school students at the University of Virginia, wanted their wedding to be a relaxed celebration with friends and family. The key components that were important to Jen included residential accents, touches of copper and rose gold and a nod to her family’s Colorado background. Cowhide rugs, reclaimed wood, succulents, lush woodland florals, and blue and gray tones mimicking the Rocky Mountains were a few of the décor elements that we so loved adding to the overall design.

In order to make the reception space feel intimate, which can be a difficult task for stationed dinners in large open rooms, we brought in 30+ ft trees, which provided a major impact. Additionally, this helped separate the dining and dancing into two separate areas. Her printed suite designed by Rock, Paper, Scissors and calligraphed by The Left Handed Calligrapher was another special detail. The inner envelopes of the wedding invitations were hand tea stained providing a very natural and organic feel to the full suite. Bad weather loomed in the forecast all day, so last minute, we added a Sperry Tent to the ceremony site and décor.

The bouquet is what makes the shoot so special with its volume and shape. It’s Monday morning and we’d be lying to say we jumped out of bed with glee. Let’s get real; it’s a struggle but luckily we have the cure for those beginning of the week blues and it comes in shades of pretty pink. Whimsical, romantic and bursting with all the beauty that makes SMP sing, this outdoor wedding by Elizabeth Fogarty is all we need to add a spring to our step – all in our Vault right here!

From the Bride… Caleb and I both wanted an outdoor wedding, near the water. We wanted to keep it intimate and just to our closest family and friends. I would say the theme of our wedding is romantic, whimsical and comfortable. The most important elements of our big day is having a beautiful ceremony and finding time to enjoy it/take it all in. We want to be able to enjoy each other’s company, as well as the company of our loved ones, but never lose sight that this is one of the most important, romantic steps in our relationship.

Caleb and his groomsmen wore light navy and my bridesmaids wore various shades of blush. The hardest thing about bringing our ideas to life was honestly budget – trying to make everything we wanted fit within the budget and prioritizing certain elements over others. Another small hiccup is trying to best accommodate family requests, but also staying true to what we want.

We met right after high school, through mutual friends at a party. Caleb broke the ice first and we started dating midway through freshmen year of college. We did 5+ years of long distance before he moved to NYC to join me in the working world. We’ve always known we’d end up together because we’re so similar (neat freaks, love being active, family oriented) but also challenge each other to be better every single day. Our families have been so welcoming and supportive since the beginning, and the engagement/wedding process has just brought us even closer.

This Rose Bouquet is What We Want for 2017

See this bouquet? It just jumped to the top of my favorite florals Pinterest board. The roses are to die for and the colors? Don’t even get me started. Sweet Root Village, I’m in awe. And Michael and Carina’s pics? Pretty perfect as well if I do say so myself. They’re giving me life on this chilly winter day and this Vault gallery is where I’ll be for the foreseeable future if you need me!

Fairytale-Style Whimsy For a Fall Ranch Wedding

There are so many details to love about this whimsical ranch wedding, it’s tough to know exactly where to begin. From the bride’s gown and Emma Katzka headpiece, to the sprawling natural scenery, to the family style reception set aglow by hundreds of candles…it’s a fairytale day if I ever saw one and we’re only just getting started. More this way from the lens of Shannon Moffit.

From Shannon Moffit Photography… Justine and Zach are the kind of couple you can’t help but love! Their wedding was a perfect reflection of them, simple with an elegant flair. The two were married on a private ranch in Virginia, against a view of woodland mountains that seem to be painted on the horizon. The layers of Justine’s Sarah Seven gown danced in the wind as they said their vows, and her organic bouquet with shades of purple, made for a lovely color pop against the dark greens around us. The reception was one of the most unique I have experienced. Guests sat “family style” and dined solely by the glow of hundreds of candles; it was perfectly intimate!

From the Bride… Zach and I were first introduced by a mutual friend while attending Southern Illinois University. I was a bit of an introvert and highly focused on obtaining a suitable enough GPA to grant me admission into graduate school, while Zach was busy making the most of his college experience (wink, wink). Unsure at first, Zach soon won me over with his silly sense of humor and his easy-going nature, and I slowly converted him to a guy who preferred “Netflix & Nap” over that night’s college rager.

Five years, six moves and three cats later… Zach proposed to me while we were alone on the beautiful beach of Fort De Soto. After the initial shock wore off, the reality of planning a large wedding sunk in. While we lived down in Florida, most of our family lived in Illinois, so the first task was deciding where we would tie the knot. Travel would be required for at least half of our family no matter the state, so when one of Zach’s relatives’ offered up her retired horse ranch in the gorgeous rolling hills of Northern Virginia we jumped at the opportunity!

Zach and I are both pretty laid-back, with a style that I would describe as organic and minimalistic. Northern Virginia is stunningly beautiful, so we didn’t want loud colors or unnecessary bells and whistles taking away from the beauty of the countryside! Dove grey and gold were the perfect colors for our neutral affair, and we welcomed the soft yellow, orange, and red tones that came with the changing leaves of fall (our favorite season).

The bridesmaids wore a variety of convertible Jenny Yoo dresses, which perfectly accented the gold embroidered appliqué flowers in my Sarah Seven gown {Style: Practically Perfect}. We added pops of eggplant and lavender to the floral arrangements to honor my grandmother, who has always loved the color purple. The ceremony took place overlooking the horse pastures under a simple, but elegant structure lined with greenery and a beautiful banner. The wind was strong that day, but it made for the most beautiful movement with our chiffon dresses! The same mutual friend that introduced us, officiated our wedding, which made the ceremony so much more intimate for Zach and I. After the ceremony, the guests were moved inside a tent to enjoy a cocktail hour with hot apple cider – the perfect fall treat!

For the reception, tapered candles and loose greenery were used to decorate the beautiful farm tables that lined the barn from front to back – helping us set a comfortable, “family style” tone. Injectable donut holes made for the perfect dessert, and after dinner was served, the guests moved into the tent for dancing! The top and side panels of the tent were translucent, allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors without having to endure the frigid cold temperatures that evening!

In retrospect, our wedding was perfectly us – simple yet elegant. We could not have pulled it off without the help of our amazing event designer and stylist, Luxe and Luna Couture Events, and our fabulous photographer, Shannon Moffit Photography! These “friendors” helped us take our fragmented visions and make them cohesive and practical. While they took care of the heavy lifting, Zach and I were able to enjoy our day and the precious time with our beloved friends and family. We are so thankful!

Proof that You Can’t Go Wrong with a Black + White Wedding

I’m a classic girl at heart when it comes to weddings and to me, there’s nothing more timeless than a day decked out purely in black and white. Sure, I had a bit of peachy blush in my own big day, but when I see a colorless fete like this one planned by Amore Events by Cody? I’m convinced that (even on a rainy day) this good ol’ combo does the trick. See more captured by Gianny Campos in The Vault!

From Gianny Campos Photography… News anchor Eve (Tannery) Russo and owner of Capital Printing Corp. Nolan Russo, from New Jersey, were married in a rustic-chic wedding at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards in Virginia. The couple, in their 30s, had been to every banquet hall, country club, and hotel in their area for weddings that were all relatively similar, so they wanted their wedding venue to be something different, memorable, and intimate. The wedding was a “drive-able destination,” so guests could spend a few days celebrating the couple and getting to know one another. The big day marked the end of a rare, non-stop week of rain, but it didn’t dampen what turned out to be an unforgettable wedding. Because of the soggy ground, and Eve’s meteorologists at work warning her of potential downpours, the couple chose to get married under Pippin’s long porch, which still overlooks the mountains. It provided a comfortable and stunning venue for the ceremony. The clouds ended up proving to be the perfect backdrop, with a majestic steam developing over the mountains and the colors beautifully complimenting the couple’s classic and glamorous black and white color scheme. Because family is so important to Eve and Nolan, they really wanted guests to “feel the love,” and they did that through beautiful paper and signage by Poppy and Scooter with personal touches including a custom-designed monogram, lyrics from the couple’s “song,” clever sayings, and even funny hashtags. Amore Events by Cody created the most glamorous and inviting space for the reception, with candles and greenery (some of which Cody forged herself) and luscious floral arrangements on every table. Stunning lanterns hung from the ceiling to create the perfect ambiance. Guests were able to enjoy various areas – the dance floor, a cigar bar, a fire pit, and even a local donut truck, where workers served fresh, organic donuts for dessert…a “sweet ending” for what was truly a magical day.

An Intimate Chapel Ceremony To Remind Us Why We Love Weddings

This feature was a bit of a struggle. Plain and simple, there were too many beautiful photos to include in one post – so more than ever, I encourage you to head to our Vault gallery and see every single stunning snap by Michael and Carina – you will not be disappointed. From the quiet insides of this classic chapel to the blush and burgundy bouquets (thanks to Hedge Fine Blooms), it’s a classic, romantic wedding that I’m loving more and more with every minute. Join me in this beautiful bliss right this way!

From the Bride… After long conversations during chilly walks around DC, homemade gnocchi, and more hearty laughs than I’d had in years, I knew Steve was the thoughtful, smart and witty man I’d one day call my husband. As it turned out, he’d made up his mind on day one. The evening we met, he told friends, “See that girl in the silver dress? I’m going to marry her.” Three years later I wore that same dress to our rehearsal dinner at The Brookville, in Charlottesville, VA.

Our hope for our wedding was the relaxed elegance and easy joy of a close-knit dinner party. We decided on a few key factors: a single venue for the whole day, wine, and a small list of family and friends-who-are-family.We fell head over heels with Charlottesville, VA – the leisurely pace, peaceful Blue Ridge Mountains, and the fact it was driving distance for my family in Kentucky and Ohio, Steve’s New England family, and all our friends from Washington, DC. When we stepped into the quaint, 50-year-old historic chapel at Trump Winery, my heart skipped a beat, and Steve squeezed my hand. It was a moment you can’t manufacture: sunbeams filtered through the windows and lit up the pastel colors on the ceiling’s painted mural. The classic red brick exterior and white steeple reminded Steve of growing up in Massachusetts. It was perfect for our ceremony, and because the chapel only seated 75 (our exact number of guests), we knew it would feel beautifully full. We were so struck by its charm we commissioned an artist friend, Nikki Smetters, to make a watercolor insert for our invitations and programs.

We chose a timeless, neutral palette with just a touch of Old World charm. We drew inspiration from Italy (Steve’s family heritage, and our honeymoon destination), antique books that we collected throughout our engagement (with our favorite author’s names as table numbers), and a special detail from my mother’s family’s Youngstown, Ohio roots: the cookie table, a labor of love with humble origins in which women (and men!) bake up a storm for weeks before the wedding. It was amazing, and people loved making up gift bags of cookies as favors.

I will remember the whole achingly beautiful day forever: watching my best friends lovingly do each other’s makeup, my grandmother peeking in the dressing area door, ready to be “one of the girls”, and of course, our first look. I saw Steve standing in the vineyard, and my heart had never felt so full. It definitely didn’t hurt he looked so handsome! Soft bouquets by Hedge Fine Blooms in blush, red wine, ivory, gold, and sage also had me swooning, I felt like I was holding an Italian meadow in my hands.

Our guests were greeted on the chapel patio with cold local cider and upbeat music like “Goin to the Chapel” and “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole. We purposefully kept the chapel doors closed so our guests could chat with each other and linger, looking out over the grapevines and rolling hills. I remember laughing out loud, while peeking through the window of the car with my bridesmaids, as people danced to the music when the chapel doors opened. My sister walked my mom down the aisle, my father wrapped Steve in a hug, and then I married the best man I’ve ever known.

It took a village: from the al fresco cocktail hour to the family-style dinner, Cristelle and her C&O Catering team made feeding decadent, delicious food to 75 people look effortless, and everyone was so friendly our guests raved about the people almost as much as the incredible food! C&O truly captured a little essence of each of our elements in our menu: from butternut-squash ravioli with Italian sage, to Southern ham on Virginia cheddar scones… let’s just say I was not a bride who forgot to eat! Our wonderful DJ’s, Chris and Rialand with Younique Moments, surprised us by serenading everyone with “Be Our Guest” as dinner was brought to the tables. Our dear friends, Michael and MaryAlice Viljoen, did AV and day-of coordination, and were a force to be reckoned with. Patrick, the coordinator at Trump Winery, was one of the most gracious people we met throughout the planning process, and Michael and Carina, our photographers, practically became family in their quiet, intentional ways… Carina even bustled my gown when no one else could! When we think of it all now we think of joy on joy on joy, and I know we always will.

Why Your Gown is Basically Everything

There are so many reasons why we might choose a wedding for Style Me Pretty. The story, the details, the pure love that permeates every last images. But in this case…I took one look at the gown and was DONE. Ethereal and romantic while being so timeless and elegant. And photographed to utter perfection by Audra Wrisley. Every other perfect detail? Just the icing on the cake.

This couple’s amazing day set in a garden venue was a dream from start to finish, designed around a beautiful color palette of soft blush, lavender, blue and gray. The bride’s Watters Woo gown was elegant, dreamy and whimsical, which made for a gorgeous focal point for the wedding day. Their outdoor ceremony was full of quiet, intimate moments, as the couple spoke their vows with the birds chirping and a soft breeze rustling in front of their family and friends. The evening ended with dinner and dancing in Meadowlark’s greenhouse atrium, which a perfect way to end their lovely garden wedding.

As Amy and Paul are from Vietnamese descent, they also held a traditional ceremony, honoring their families who were all in attendance. It was a beautifully colorful morning, and Amy look incredible in her custom red dress. As photographers, we’ve rarely felt so welcomed by their warm families, and it was such an honor capturing these important moments in their lives.
