Romantic Art Deco-Inspired Nashville Wedding

I don’t love themed weddings, but this Bride and Groom’s Art Deco-inspired Nashville fête is so elegant and understated, that I may have to change my stance. With touches like beaded bridesmaids’ dresses and décor to highlight the space’s neoclassical design, this wedding is the perfect modern take on 1920’s glamour. And Cassidy Carson‘s photos? Well, they’re perfection, too—see them here.

From The Bride… Nashville is a very special place to us; we met in Nashville, and my husband attended Vanderbilt University. Therefore Nashville was the only choice for us to tie the knot. When we started to look for wedding venues, we both knew that we wanted a classic wedding venue that combined southern culture and vintage charm. From the moment we entered the Schermerhorm Symphony Center in downtown Nashville, we immediately fell in love with the neoclassic design and natural lighting. The venue provided a vintage template, with a stunning courtyard, meticulous crown molding, and grand interior columns. The unique light fixtures and marble flooring were enhanced with beautiful organic floral arrangements.

When it came time to purchase a dress, I had trouble deciding what type of dress I wanted. I just couldn’t imagine myself in a traditional wedding dress. After looking through lots of wedding magazines and blogs, I ended with a custom design from St. Isabel based in Austin, TX. I quickly decided that I would feel most comfortable in a deep & dramatic neckline, and then we built onto the dress from there. I ended up wearing a long sleeved, white laced gown, with beautiful button details.

Once we selected the venue we wanted to make sure our wedding day was elegantly captured. We researched so many photographers and immediately fell in love with film photographer, Cassidy Carson. We couldn’t be happier with the way our pictures turned out. Every picture captures the joy of our wedding with a romantic, rich texture and soft finish.

On the day of our wedding, we started our morning with a quick run; we couldn’t resist telling fellow joggers that we were getting married. Everyone responded with positive comments and stories about their wedding day. Once we finished running we were off to the venue. Another great wedding decision was selecting Jamie Brickell from 12th table design for wedding coordination and Amanda Gros for styling and makeup. Jamie was spot-on with every wedding detail; she made all my planning efforts come to reality. Amanda Gros was also brilliant; she understood that I wanted a vintage, yet natural look. It was very important to me that my makeup wasn’t too heavy. We anticipated being nervous on the wedding day, but were surprisingly relaxed.

Even though we wanted a traditional venue, we wanted to reduce the traditional wedding activities. We excluded the garter belt / bouquet toss and cutting the cake; however we kept our first dance and the dances with our parents. One of my favorite wedding memories was dancing with my father to Moon River, the same song that my grandparents danced to at their wedding. We also wanted our guests to accurately experience Nashville, aka The Music City; we selected an incredible band that kept us dancing to Motown hits. My husband’s primary goal for the wedding was to have an awesome party, and sure enough, everyone had such a good time that it ended with all the male guests placing their ties around their heads. It was a night to remember! We feel so fortunate to have experienced our dream wedding, surrounded by the people we love.

Classic Nashville Civil Ceremony + Ballroom Wedding

This Nashville based couple threw tradition to the wind by having an intimate courthouse ceremony followed by an elegant ballroom reception with the rest of their guests. I Love You Too Weddings was there to capture both amazing moments orchestrated to perfection by Big Events Weddings. Seriously, this wedding is a cannot miss. See every moment here!

From I Love You Too WeddingsEmily and Jan were introduced by a mutual friend who no doubt recognized their perfect compatibility. Though they call Nashville home today, the bride is a born-and-raised New Yorker and the groom is from Germany. Nashville, thus, became the ideal spot to unite both families and an opportunity for them to showcase their amazing city. And showcase Nashville they did!

Emily serves the State of Tennessee as the Assistant Commissioner of Education and has a long professional history of serving toward better education for young people. In light of this, the couple were inspired to have a Civil Ceremony with just close family and friends on the day before their Church ceremony and formal reception. Governor Bill Haslam served as the officiant at this very intimate Civil Ceremony held in the rotunda of the gorgeous State Capitol Building. The ceremony was followed by a brief champagne reception at the historic Hermitage Hotel. Friday evening culminated in a casual rehearsal dinner and Umtrunk (German for ‘a get-together of old friends and new family’) at one of Nashville’s favorite downtown music venues, The Listening Room, where the Bride and Groom, in German custom, sawed a log in half to symbolize the joint effort needed for a lasting marriage. Jan and Emily surprised their guests with a performance by legendary Nashville songwriter, Don Schlitz, most recognized for writing ‘The Gambler”, famously recorded by Kenny Rogers, among many others. Schlitz surprised Emily and Jan by writing a beautiful love song and performing it as a lull-a-bye on the eve of their wedding day.

The wedding day was a true fairy tale – the Bride turned from suited professional Yale grad into a stunning and giddy bride wearing what can only be described as a princess’s ball gown. The blessing of the marriage at the beautiful Christ Church Cathedral sealed their vows, which they exchanged in both English and German.

After a very emotional ceremony, Emily and Jan’s 260+ friends and family reunited for dinner and dancing at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in the Grand Event Hall with captivating views of the Nashville skyline. The ballroom decor can best be described as an ‘urban forest’. Dining tables were flooded with candle light and filled with stunning white orchids, calla lillies and hydrangea with sparkling accents of classic silver and black in the flatware and stationary. The rockin’ Atlanta Allstars took the stage after dinner and kept people moving under an incredible modern chandelier-lit dance floor for an impressive three hour set interrupted only by singer/songwriter Susi Ruth’s special performance of “My Love”, a song written for Emily by her Groom.

The weekend of celebration ended with one last bit of Nashville culture at the Johnny Cash Museum for Sunday brunch.

Rustic Gold Nashville Garden Wedding

This gorgeous Bride kept her nuptials feeling rustic at Cedarwood Weddings (where she is a former employee!), with vintage accents, ‘maids in shimmering neutrals, and a wildflower bouquet accented with gilded ferns (!). Even the handsome Groom let his hair down! Want more? Krista Lee Photography captured all the charm of this romantic garden fete in the full gallery here!

From Cedarwood WeddingsThis wedding is a very special one to us, because the bride is a (former) Cedarwood employee and (current) ambassador for our venue. Kortni and Logan are engrained into the fabric of Cedarwood, and we are grateful for the heart and soul Kortni contributed to so many Cedarwood weddings and our opportunity to help design a sophisticated garden wedding at our historic estate that is just as graceful as she is.

The late summer wedding is beautifully photographed in film by Krista Lee Photography and the styling is refined countryside gracefulness, including an outdoor ceremony and al fresco reception. Hand lettered invitations, a hanging champagne bar greeting guests, bridesmaids dressed in on-trend, metallic-embellished dresses, and foilage+floral garlands decorating spaces from the altar, to tables to bar. Even the historic house and barn donned fresh greenery. Ring bearer antics down the aisle, flower girls’ boho headpieces, the bride’s gorgeous loose curls and (musician) groom’s late night serenade are all part of this casually refined southern soirée.

From the beautiful Bride… I’m definitely one of those mushy, hopeless romantics. I do believe in fate! Three years ago, in our college town, Logan walked into my work with a group of his buddies. We both noticed each other right away and locked eyes. We had never met before and after finally working up the courage to ask me out; he walks up to me with hands in his pockets and asks to take me out for coffee. Which if anyone knows me, I’m obsessed with coffee, so naturally I said yes! He told his friends that night that he was going to marry me before even speaking to me. FATE! He didn’t wait the stupid 3 day rule that most guys stick to. He called me the next day to set up our date. So getting to know each other on our first date (with all the getting to know each other questions), we discovered that our moms were best friends in high school. FATE! Obviously, they had lost touch over the years, but after all this time, we discovered we were both from around the same area, yet had never met each other until now. Timing is truly everything. We fell fast for each other; that all-consuming love that takes your breath away, makes your heart skip a beat, and makes your tummy flop! MUSHY, I told you!:). And yes, our moms are reunited and best friends, once again!

Prohibition Era Themed Nashville Wedding

With a wedding theme revolving the prohibition, you bet this themed affair is filled heritage. From the Bride’s Hey Lady heels, to the rustically arranged blooms, to the cookbook favors, I Love You Too Weddings captured it all (including some pretty incredible cocktails) here!

From Modern Vintage EventsCaitlin and Luke are a couple who truly know what they want. Their intelligence and attention to detail made everything about their day truly reflect who they are as people and as a couple. We themed the wedding after the Prohibition era. They brought in elements from both of their hometowns and from the things they loved. Caitlin and Luke lived in a building that has so much history and beautiful architecture, the church where they got married had the same beautiful vignettes. Their reception site was a renovated factory that had a perfect mix of modern architecture and historical pieces.

When it came to colors Caitlin described her palette as a summer palette that had been out in the sun and faded over time. This muted palette was perfect for their wedding in September. We used flowers there grown locally and arranged them in tin cans and bottles. The tables were named after literary couples who had positive stories. Caitlin and Luke tied in heritage wherever possible; they brought photos of their parents on their wedding day and gave cookbooks with family recipes as favors.

We brought back cocktails from another era with the French 75 and served local beer on the bar. The band, The Jake Leg Stompers, kept everyone entertained with Prohibition era music as well some recognizable new music. The evening ended with a second line and hugs and cheers from friends and family.

From the beautiful Bride… We met through online dating, but it turns out we were both grad students at the same university (kismet!) and we even knew some of the same people! We were really slow about dating though and our family and friends gave us a lot of grief. We had our first date in July of 2011, and we were slowly starting to see each other more and more. At some point in October, we finally decided that we needed to define things, which was mainly just “So, we’re dating, right?” “Right.” Unfortunately, we were so casual about it, neither of us remember when this actually happened (nor do we remember the exact date of our first date). My younger brother was thoroughly offended that we didn’t have an anniversary, so he arbitrarily assigned us October 12th. A slow start was more in line with our personalities, and it gave us both room to welcome the other into our lives more fully. Of course, the first thing Luke said when we set our wedding date was “At last! A REAL anniversary!”

Our approach was to try and capture as much of the Nashville vibe as we could. Almost all of our guests were from out of town and we really wanted to showcase the city that had been the start of our lives together. We wanted things to be personal for us and representative of our city. One of my favorite details was how we did the table names. Instead of numbers, we chose couples for our favorite books – not necessarily well-known, but ones whose stories were *good.* Our printer made up false book covers and we wrapped them around old books to label the tables. In the same vein, I gathered up quotes from literature about love, my parents printed them, and put them in picture frames to decorate around the bar and gift table. Sonnet 116, my favorite poem by Shakespeare, was the centerpiece of that element. And now (as soon as I can find the space in my apartment) I can hang up the frame as a reminder of our wedding day.

Our first big choice was our wedding planners (well, actually I bought the dress before hiring planners, but Luke wasn’t there for that!) and planner(s) you like and trust are essential. I wouldn’t do a wedding without them. We mainly went with their recommendations and were never disappointed. Your planner and your photographer, it’s almost as important that you think you can get along with them as that you like their work. You’re going to spend some very stressful hours with them, so make sure that your personalities mesh well! A planner and a photographer who can keep you calm will be a great thing come crunch time.

My absolute favorite part of the day was the 15 minutes we got alone during the cocktail hour. We were whisked away to a separate part of our reception venue while everyone else was downstairs chatting and snacking. The venue staff sent us plates of appetizers and glasses of water and cocktails and left us alone. It was a glorious moment to just… revel in the fact that we were now married! And, it guaranteed that we got at least some water, some food, and some of our cocktail before we started glad-handing everyone. Not only do I recommend fitting this into your day, I’d say it is essential. The rest of the day is about what looks nice, what photographs well, what the mammas want, what will be fun for your guests… this moment is well and truly about the two of you.

Hip Nashville Wedding at Cannery Row

Take note SMP’ers because this is what trendsetting is all about. For this hip and happening affair is overflowing with delightful details from I Love You Too Weddings that are oh-so-chic. Think industrial accents mixed with crisp white candles, it’s a gallery filled with goodies and you can see it here!

From I Love You Too WeddingsNashville is home to a lot of super hip trendsetters and when two of them get married…it’s truly an event to remember. Britt and Alexis hosted close family and friends from near and far for a weekend of celebration. The weekend started with a Friday night welcome/rehearsal dinner at local East Nashville hot spot, Barista Parlor. Britt’s sister and close friends own a favorite East Nashville bar called No. 308 (coincidentally where Britt and Alexis first met) and they crafted deliciously boozy punches to accompany the delicious Mas Tacos Por Favor taco truck catering. Nashville delivered an epic sunset after friends and family toasted the happy couple and then continued on to 308 to keep the party going. Saturday brought the formal celebration with a very touching ceremony and dance-filled reception at Nashville’s music hub, Cannery Row, in their newly imagined event space, ONE. While their wedding day was designed with incredible taste and personal flair, it was the love of the couple and their friends and family around them that made the day so memorable. Alexis and Britt truly know what it means to eat, drink and be merry. From the beautiful Bride Alexis… Instead of choosing a set theme or picking colors, we focused our decor on a few key elements that best represented us as a couple. Our home is filled with vintage mid-century furniture, plants, and then more plants — so we ran with that and added a ton of white candles and soft white string lights. We had a lot of fun antiquing for wedding stuff in the months leading up — cake stands, picture frames for signage, cake servers, etc. We also utilized Etsy for a handful of details — matchbox labels from LiaGriffith for our DIY matchbox favors; caketopper from MelaboWed; and OurWeddingInvites for the guestbook. Britt has a degree in art and design, and she made all our signage and hand-wrote all the invitation envelopes. We were super fortunate to have pre-existing relationships with most of our vendors, so planning our wedding allowed us to work with friends. This included Kate York and Jeremy Lister, two super talented singer/songwriters who sung live for our procession and recession. They have beautiful voices individually, and together they created the perfect harmony. I’ll never forget locking eyes with Britt as I walked down the aisle clutching my mom’s arm, listening to Kate and Jeremy. One of our favorite elements was our sign-in table. We had guests take polaroids of themselves to put in our book with a handwritten message. And atop the sign-in table were wooden letter boxes (A & B) from Flora Grubb Garden, filled with succulents we had planted a few months before. We also loved our custom wooden chuppah with tiny plant holders for the air plants we attached to it. The same furniture designer made our dining table at home with reclaimed wood and the chuppah is now in our backyard. Most memorable moment: It’s hard to pick just one moment from the entire weekend, but both Britt and I cherish our ceremony. We got legally married at a municipal building in Brooklyn two weeks before, but wanted to share our love in front of our friends and family for a proper celebration in Nashville. As we clasped hands to recite the vows we had written it was like time stood still and no one else was in the room. Our good friend, mentor, and neighbor lead our ceremony. When she didn’t have everyone in tears, she had everyone laughing, especially with “By the power vested in me by absolutely nobody, but instead reflective simply of the transformative, radical power of love, I welcome you into your marriage.” Advice: Approach vendors you love who may not be in the wedding industry and ask if they’ll help with your special day. The owner of our favorite plant store, All Seasons, decorated our venue with ferns, succulents, and air plants. She had never done a wedding before, but was so excited to help. Also, during the planning process, make sure to set aside time together for non-wedding related things. Music: Nashville is Music City, ya’ll! The music selection of course was super important! Procession: Leather and Lace by Stevie Nicks Recession: One Love by Bob Marley First Dance: Somebody to Love by Valerie June

Rustic Meets Vintage Farm Wedding

This, loves, is what happens when rustic details meet a sweet vintage vibe – a whole lot of awesome.  Now take that bundle of awesomeness and add in the chic stylings of Modern Vintage Events, fab rentals from Southern Events and a touch of modern bling and it’s a drop-dead gorgeous Sunday in one, two, three (adorable duo included).  See every moment captured by Brad and Jen in the full gallery.

From Modern Vintage EventsEmily and Eric are just one of those couples that smile together, laugh together and keep each other on their toes. Emily’s laugh is contagious and Eric knows how to make her laugh. They got married on a hill in TN, in a setting that makes you want to sit a spell and drink sweet tea. Emily loved rustic with a little bling and soft muted colors. We worked with blush, blues and whites and kept everything soft. The day, along with the decor, was light and airy with just the right amount of sunshine. We added some rustic elements like moss letters but tried to keep everything a bit more light and vintage.

The house (where Kathy, the venue owner lives) was the perfect backdrop for the ceremony. The reception was in the barn on top of a hill. Kathy has a plethora of vintage furniture and decor that we were able to use. Jessica with SOULflowers put together beautiful arrangements for the guest tables using white, blush, green and a splash of blue. The wind gave a great breeze but kept blowing the candles out through the evening.

The venue was complete with corn hole, a fireplace, a lot of candles and a lot more dancing. Cocktail hour was set around the candlelit pool. Their guests enjoyed dinner on the hilltop and beverages and dancing to The Respectables in the moonlight. Emily and Eric departed with sparklers to embark on their new life together!

Formal Nashville Plantation Engagement

First off, can we just stop and talk about this ring. This show-stopping, canary diamond beauty one lucky bride-to-be gets to call her own. The bling is about as drool-worthy as it gets, but I promise the entire engagement sesh by Alyssa Rosenheck Photography is equally as lovely, and you can see it all sitting right here.

From Alyssa Rosenheck… Rachel and Eric have had an extraordinary cross country romance. They are both such travel bugs that it is only fitting that they will be doing long distance up to their fall Baltimore wedding. They met and fell in love in Austin, TX. Eric told me he knew she was the one the moment they looked at each other. They travel between Utah and Baltimore to see one another and their epic engagement took place in Iceland. (Speaking of Iceland, she was “iced in Iceland”!!!) We made a memorable weekend of their engagement session in Nashville and one of my incredible clients let me borrow their breathtaking private estate that made for the perfect backdrop and set the tone for such a classic romance. My heart is complete knowing the people I love have found their partner in life and I am beyond grateful to have captured part of their love story.

Emerald + Copper Irish Wedding Inspiration

Tis the day for all things gorgeously green and Irish and this shoot by Jenna Henderson with Cedarwood Weddings has all that plus a stationery suite by Designs in Paper that I can’t stop ogling at. With mid-century modern design elements and some amazing copper accents, I feel lucky just gazing upon all these pics. Grab a Guinness and let’s celebrate St. Paddy with these green gems.

From Cedarwood WeddingsThe Cedarwood design team in Nashville is sharing our love of mid-century-modern style today in a fun collaboration of copper and emerald, showcasing a couple’s Irish heritage. Despite a super windy day that challenged us a bit, photographer Jenna Henderson was able to capture the event design details in film.

Our design team had been dreaming of combining geometric elements found in mid century modern design with metallic copper and emerald, set in natural outdoor landscapes. The 50 acres of Historic Cedarwood’s estate is a flexible backdrop for ever-changing event design, and we enjoy creating new styling combinations.

Our copper and emerald green color palette found inspiration in the rich hues of hammered copper and vintage “forest charm” glassware. Pieces of these iconic emerald tabletop accents from our vintage collections are from the 40’s-50’s era and we pair them with equally iconic ghost chairs of the mid century period.

Copper pennies drilled to attach custom printed tags saying “Lucky us” are key chain guest favors. A glittered copper styled wine bar features the bride and groom’s signature cocktail “Lucky in Love,” a celebration of their union and nod to their irish heritage. We even found vintage emerald green glass shamrocks for bride and groom plate decor.

With the help of the super talented team at Designs in Paper, our ceremony altar is a custom, cut-out geometric backdrop. Stunning against the evergreen tree line, the backdrop is a perfect compliment to the atomic-age-inspired paper goods. Geometric shapes continue through the event design, including a DIY star burst display for place cards and star burst baubles hanging from the dance floor.

Florals (including the bride’s bouquet) were loosely arranged fresh flowers with touches of copper-painted dried materials. Pops of evergreen foliage emphasis emerald hues and metallic ribbon is luxurious and festive. The wedding cake is totally covered with green Hydrangea florets, and topped with a 3D copper monogram from the invitation suite.

The fashion star of this mid-century modern day is our Irish bride in her gorgeous Hayley Paige “Kira” gown from The Dress Theory. The A·line, sweetheart lace bodice has a detachable lace cap sleeve bolero that forms a keyhole in front and back. The gown’s silk georgette flounced skirt, paired with copper shoes and belt, is a flirty ensemble perfect for twirling on the dance floor.

Romantic Belle Meade Plantation Wedding

Drenched in a classic contemporary style, yet casually chic, this Belle Meade Plantation wedding is worth a good long gander m’dears. The Bride in her custom Olia Zavozina dress will make your heart flip-flop a few times, while every detail from Simply Stunning Events follows that same stunning air. Our fave moments below are just the start—there’s even more in the full gallery from Bamber Photography!

Rustic

From the Kristin Kaplan with Simply Stunning EventsAs to Jessica & Adam’s wedding style: They wanted their wedding to feel classic and contemporary but also have some natural elements to blend well with the style of Belle Mead Plantation. We decided to stick with a neutral color palette of white, ivory, champagne, and blush tones with pops of gold, green, and pink. Jessica also wanted to mix some of her Indian upbringing into the overall southern feel of the event which we did with the food and the music.

My biggest advice to brides is to not get too caught up in a million little details. Pick a few aspects of the wedding to tie in some personal details such as the signature drinks, favors, or paper products. Resist the urge to incorporate every idea you see on Pinterest or obsess over every tiny thing. It will just lead to feeling overwhelmed. At the end of the day your guests are there to celebrate with you and have fun!

From the beautiful Bride…My husband proposed to me in Heidelberg, Germany. Heidelberg holds a special place in my heart because I went to Heidelberg for my undergraduate degree. Besides the city holding a special place in my heart because I went to university there, the city is also known for its romantic flare and they say Heidelberg is a city where many people loose their heart. So for my husband to propose to me on the famous bridge, “Alte Brücke”, was one of the most cherish-able moments of my life.

From the very first day that I started planning the wedding, I knew the most important thing to me was for my big day to be a big party. I wanted it to be classy yet casual so that the atmosphere and vibe on my big day didn’t feel stiff. So it was important to me to choose a venue that was just classic and elegant so that the decor we chose just added to the classic feel of the venue but not overpower it.

The thing I was looking forward to the most on my wedding day was walking down the aisle with my father and seeing my husband for the first time at the altar and then for the dance party.

I have always been one of those girls that knows what looks good on my body and hence I knew exactly what I wanted. It was actually one of my bridesmaids that pinned a dress on my wedding board, and ever since I had laid my eyes on that dress on Pinterest, I knew that was my dress. That said, to make this dress come to life, I went to local couture designers in Nashville who came highly recommended from friends. The designer that made my dress was Olia Zavozina. Olia is a Russian/American designer based in Nashville, who has an amazing eye for detail and style and she was able to bring my dress and vision to life beautifully. I LOVED my dress.

My parents flew in from India and my brother and his girlfriend flew in from Germany. My grandparents unfortunately couldn’t make it to the wedding because it would have been too long of a journey for them; but otherwise it was just magnificent. Adam is from Chicago and when we decided to do the wedding in Nashville, we knew this would be a destination wedding for 80% of our guests. So just having everyone around us from all over the country and the globe celebrate our union and our marriage was just fantastic.

What I would really like other brides to know about my planning and thought process is to most importantly have fun throughout the whole process. Minute details such as how the napkin color looks against your table cloth; how the flowers look etc doesn’t matter at the end of the day. The things that your guests remember about your day are if you as a couple had fun and the after party. So if you ever find yourself thinking twice about whether to spend more money on flowers or to spend more money on drinks or food; do yourself a favor and choose the latter.

Further, choosing a venue that reflects the type of wedding you are planning is very very important because I think that is half the battle. For me, like I mentioned before, a classic venue with the rustic charm was very important because I didn’t want to spend much on flowers etc. So by choosing Belle Meade Plantation, I knew from the very first day that no matter what I did, the venue was just so beautiful that I wouldn’t have to do much to make it “wedding ready”.  That said, I am going to contradict myself by saying – you only get married once (I hope); so if there is something or a particular vendor that you really want and have dreamt off, then please do spend the few additional $$$ to make that happen. For me those few additional splurges were worth every memory.

Romantic Belle Meade Plantation Wedding

Somewhere in between the first and last image of this darling gallery from Brooke Boling, lives a cozy, happy place that I want to live for hours on end. Maybe it’s the charming red-wheeled wagon (that I want to curl up in) or the glowing reception thanks to Alice Hendry and Bright Event Production or the welcoming place settings prettied up by BBJ Linen and Lauren Marie Atkinson Designs. Thankfully I don’t have to pick a favorite moment, because they’re all sitting pretty right here.

From Brooke BolingIt was the perfect Fall Day designed with a true Southern spirit. On Sunday, October 5th 2014, Allison Keaton married Dale Binkley in a beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown. The ceremony looked just like a beautiful southern backdrop. The trees, the soft wind, the bridemaids in long green dresses. Allison is a trained chef and the menu for the guests was absolutely incredible. Pumpkin soup served in tiny pumpkins. Charcuterie Boards with an assortment of locally cured meats and house made pates. Passed edible tea cones with curried chicken salad, sweet potato cake with goat cheese and caramelized bacon, wild rice orzo in a wonton crisp. They also had a bourbon and cigar bar for the guys. The details were as perfect as perfect can be.

Two Words: Bootie Wall. The Perfect Pair in Nashville might be our own little slice of bootie lovin heaven. It’s crazy chic design by Rachel Halvorson infused with fashion staples curated by a Nashville native who also happens to be one heck of a stylish lady. Meet Whitney Dunn Daniel, along with her retail baby so perfectly captured by Alyssa Rosenheck Photography and her top fashion must haves below!

From Alyssa Rosenheck Photography… I recently helped The Perfect Pair Nashville rebrand her store which is filled with layers of fashionable staples that apply to all seasons in a very conscious and artful way. She has a glorious bootie wall that I immediately fell in love with along with her casual chic style. I love that the booties can be worn with dresses, skirts, jeans, shorts, a cool hat and cut offs, great accessories etc.

Whitney Dunn Daniel has been a stylist to some of Country Music Royalty. She has curated labels that are environmentally mindful and mostly family owned. Whitney enlisted her close and talented friend Rachel Halvorson to create a space for her clients that is chic and casual.

2. Geode Stud Earrings | These Liz Legg studs pair well with all of my jewelry. A pair of earrings that I rarely change out.

3. A Neutral Tote | These Nisolo totes are made right here in Nashville of the most wonderful leather.

4. A Great Wavy Blowout | From my friends at the Dry House in Nashville. Nothing makes me feel more ready for an event. They last for days! With my hair done, I feel more put together.

5. Molecule 01 | My all-time favorite scent. It’s mysterious and simple and smells unique on everyone.

Classic Nashville Ballroom Wedding

Some things in life just make sense together, and for me black tie and ballroom weddings are one. This timeless soiree captured by Bamber Photography is drenched in Southern elegance, and just like the Bride’s Monique Lhuillier gown, sure to leave you dazzled. It’s image after image of pure wedding magic, and you can see it all right here.

From John And Lindsey BamberThis was one of our favorite weddings to date; classic, timeless, and extremely elegant in style. Lauren and Tyler are both from the south, so their classic wedding at the Schermerhorn center was filled with southern flair. During the cocktail reception guests were serenaded by a local saxophone player and enjoyed gourmet grilled cheese and BLT’s. People literally gasped when they entered the ballroom draped with crystals, orchids, and vases filled with Champagne. It was a gorgeous event.

From the Bride and Groom… A few piece of advice for planning a wedding, firstly, if you can afford it, hire a reputable wedding planner. Our planner did a fantastic job of getting to know our tastes and narrowing down every decision to just a couple of options. This made our lives so much easier and made the whole process much more fun. Secondly, allow yourself plenty of time to plan. We had a relatively long engagement (15 months), but it still felt like a whirlwind. Third, Be organized. We are both Type A people, but all of the planning can easily become overwhelming without a system to keep track of everything that has been done and what needs to be tackled next. Fourth, remain calm when you experience bumps in the road- things will not always go according to plan, but it will be okay!
We wanted a classically elegant black-tie wedding with some elements of Southern charm thrown in. Our ceremony was held in an old Gothic-style chapel on the campus of Vanderbilt University, and we had our reception in the magnificent Schermerhorn Symphony Center in downtown Nashville. We could not have been happier with these venues- they gave us exactly what we wanted! Celebrating our commitment to each other with all of our family and friends (we had approximately 220 guests at our wedding), and seeing all of the hard work we put into planning this event come together for a truly magical night. The Bride’s something borrowed and something blue was actually the same item- a beautiful sapphire ring owned by Lauren’s grandmother that had been given to her as a gift from Lauren’s late grandfather. The something old was a handkerchief that Lauren’s mother and grandmother had carried with them on their respective wedding days. We had it sewn into the inner lining of Lauren’s dress. And of course the something new was Lauren’s stunning dress itself!

Boho Chic Nashville Wedding

To be totally honest I’m kind of obsessed with this Tennessee shindig. Filled to the brim with Afloral silk flowers, Chinese lanterns, and adorable pups, Jessica Ranae captured each moment to a perfect T. Everything from the cake to the Bride’s veil were made by those dearest to the darling couple, and you can take a peek through the gallery over here.

From Jessica Ranae PhotographyI am so excited to share this wedding with you guys. There were so many DIY details that were amazing, especially the Silk flowers from Afloral Design! You couldn’t even tell that they were silk. I also loved the mason jars that each guest got to take with them, the wedding party’s attire, the huge gold balloons, lanterns they released at the end of the night and the chic vintage blue Jaguar getaway car. This DIY wedding was amazing from start to finish and here is the bride’s description on her amazing day and how they made it so perfect.

From The Bride…Tyler and I met on the first day of a PhD program at Vanderbilt in Biomedical Research. Having just moved from Arkansas (me) and Oregon (him), Nashville was a fresh start for both of us, and through the years we loved exploring all it’s nooks and crannies, making it our town together. When it came time to plan the big day, we knew it would have to be a very Nashville affair. We toured several farm venues, but ultimately fell in love with the industrial-rustic flair of Houston Station. Not only was it centrally located in town, but it also offered enough indoor space for all of our activities (erasing our fears of the fickle Nashville weather), a coffee shop and an amazing on site coordinator. We wanted our wedding to be relaxed, comfortable, fun, and reflective of the life we created together in Nashville. The ceremony/reception space was already gorgeous, with beautiful brick, original wood floors & exposed beams, that we focused on accentuating this “Nashville” vibe with string lights, ivory linens, burlap touches, and lots of mason jars!

Tyler & I wanted to have an amazing day, but we didn’t want to start our lives together with wedding debt. So we pinpointed some of the areas we were willing to spend more on & then did our best to save, save, save on the other parts. For us, we wanted good food, plenty of booze, music, & a space big enough for all of our family and friends without whittling away the guest list. Working with the family members that helped fund our nuptials, we set a budget & it ruled all planning decisions we made. If not, things can get out of hand & quickly!

Our wedding was truly a family affair – I sourced decorations from the Nashville flea market & DIY’d the invitation suite, my sister made the veil & wrote on the chalkboard signage, my stepmom made my garter, my mom made the flower girl dresses, my aunt and cousin made our entry way picture (out of a vintage window, so cool!), my grandparents designed & made our Mr. & Mrs. chair signs, a friend made our cut cake, & two of my friends played the ceremony music. Not only did we save money, but the family touches were meaningful additions to our day that we will never forget.

My best piece of advice…Hire vendors that you actually enjoy working with, and then let them do their thing. Ok, I can’t limit myself to just one. So here is another: plan for your marriage, not just your wedding day, surround yourself with your friends and family and spend time showing them how much their love and support has meant to you and your special someone.

Rooftop Destination Wedding in Nashville

Fair warning: this wedding will cause you to lose hours and hours (perhaps days) getting lost in the gallery while your Pinning finger develops overuse cramping. But it’s all worth it. As seen through Erin H Photography’s lens, the destination soiree epitomizes everything romantic that Nashville is, from the cowboy boots to the fantastic band to the bright city lights a la Bright Event Productions.

Donny and I had been dating for over 10 years, so you can imagine how excited our family and friends were when we told them Donny had popped the question during an amazing trip to Italy. Assuming planning a wedding would be quick and easy, I was hoping to set a date for later that year.

Fast forward a whole year with nothing but bridesmaids dresses picked, we found ourselves in my favorite city, Nashville, Tennessee with me convincing Donny it was the perfect location for our wedding…which took all of five minutes to do!

Knowing we wanted something a little different, one trip up to the rooftop at Aerial we knew it was the perfect spot. Overlooking downtown Nashville, we knew it would be a fun, exciting way for our guests to experience the Nashville nightlife and a place that Donny and I had fallen in love with. We wanted our guests to love Nashville as much as we do so we had our favorite restaurant cater delicious southern food and had an amazing band, from our favorite bar, play at the reception.

The one piece of New Jersey we had to bring with us was our photographer Erin H. She had done a few of our friends’ weddings and we loved her style, plus she was dying for a trip to Nashville. So she was just as excited as we were to have her be a part of our big day.

We wanted our wedding to have a fun, southern feel, so we had our ceremony in a beautiful courtyard at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and our rooftop reception at Aerial. The reception was the perfect continuation of that fun, southern feel with mason jars and burlap covered tables with hydrangeas, babies breath and lanterns. Being a graphic designer, I loved being able to add little details like menu bags for the biscuits and place cards made of tree slices.

From Cedarwood WeddingsThis is a wedding that wows us every time, for the upscale, classic styling, sophisticated color palette of charcoal and ivory, all set in a historic Nashville country estate. The bride’s vision was a blend of rustic and elegant styling in a storybook romantic setting with lots of soft lighting and beautiful flowers. Just about every nook and cranny was filled with beautiful decor and personal touches, creating this classy, intimate celebration.

Just seven years ago, Heather and Corey were juniors in high school together, living in Florida. After graduation, they moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University – known for its stellar music program – so Corey could be immersed into his passion for music (he plays guitar.) When proposing to Heather on Valentine’s Day, Corey incorporated all of their ‘firsts’ into the proposal by ‘reenacting’ each one during a tour around town. Heather and Corey are an adventurous, humorous and fun-loving couple who enjoy living a self-professed ‘simple life’ – and we might add, ‘very elegantly!’

Rustic Tennessee Vineyard Wedding

Two Peaches designed this Arrington Vineyards reception to be rustic and romantic, and the look was achieved thanks largely in part to the DIY details from the bride and groom’s family. Polishing off the pretty with a helping hand from Import Flowers In Nashville, the day proved to be a stunning success. See more here!

From the Bride… We really wanted to support local vendors as much as possible and make it sustainable. We wanted it to represent the things we love about living in Nashville and to showcase our new city to friends and family. We chose one of our favorite places, Arrington vineyards to represent Michaels love of wine and the local making of wine to celebrate our marriage.

We drew inspiration from things we loved and always tried to keep it simple and classy. I had always visioned that we would do a lot of the wedding creation and decoration ourselves. When we saw the pile of barn wood at Arrington Vineyards I immediately asked my dad if he thought we could make tables for the wedding, and being the innovator he is, he took one glance and said “you’re the bride whatever you want” so Michael and I, with his parents, hauled all the wood back to Nashville in the rain and mud where it would sit for a few weeks until we began the project. As we began to sand the tables we realized how much character they had and began to love uncovering the layers of time on each table to find its beauty beneath. Our inspiration spiraled from there to find a fireplace mantle that my dad reclaimed which now serves as the headboard in our guest bedroom, and the chandler I found and repainted from the flea market. The whole concept was to make the wedding as sustainable as possible.

The guys were asked to buy any grey suit they would wear again and wear whatever shoes they wanted and the girls were asked to buy whatever design of dress by Dessy that made them feel the most beautiful. I wanted my girls to feel lovely on our wedding day and like themselves. We chose to have my dad preform the ceremony because of the special bond we with him and the respect we have for his wisdom and loving marriage. We knew he would preform a genuine wedding ceremony from his heart that we would always cherish. We wanted the wedding to be timeless so I choose a dress that represented that to me. I wanted to have a wedding that you could look at years from now and not know what decade it was from.

Michael is a chef so we wanted the food to be a huge part of what people remembered about the wedding because that is such a major part of who he is and how he expresses his creativity. We chose home.made catering because Chef Maumus has an uncanny ability to create intense unique flavors from food which is all locally sourced, something we truly believe in. We wanted to involve our family in the whole planning process and frequently asked for, and used their ideas so that it was truly a combination of of our families. Michaels mom made desserts which represented each one of the 4 parents heritage, which was really special. We served local beer and wine and Michael made his special drink called, Beverage. Even the flowers were locally sourced, my sister and I simply went to Import Flowers, 1 mile from my house and hand picked the bouquets we wanted and she created the arrangements. Other than that we just let the beautiful vineyard speak for itself and prayed the weather would be beautiful and it was, without a doubt, the most gorgeous day of our lives.

From The Bride…I truly believe that it was not by chance that Jon was brought into my life and I into his. We were both transplants to Nashville, TN when we happened to cross paths while out with our respective friends one evening. Aside from the immediate commonalities between us – like our history of being college athletes or our current work in different sectors of health care – there was a deeper connection based around the love we had for our family and friends. When it came time to plan our wedding, we wanted it to not only be a celebration of our commitment to each other but of those closest to us, as well.

Keeping family and friends in mind, we asked our siblings and their significant others to serve in our bridal party. Jon’s 19-month old twin niece and nephew were our Flower Girl and Ring Bearer, and four of his closest friends were Ushers for the event. We chose to hold our wedding at Green Door Gourmet – a beautiful organic farm minutes from downtown Nashville with picturesque plots of vegetables and herbs, a quaint farm store and charming barn. Holding both our ceremony and reception on site helped create a comforting and relaxed environment where guests were allowed to roam the grounds and truly enjoy the company.

I wanted the décor and details of the event to highlight the rustic setting while adding refinement and sophistication. Minimal embellishments at the ceremony site allowed the surrounding nature to take focus, while a soft and inviting color palate with metallic accents played off the warm wood of the reception barn. Terry White of English Garden really personified understated elegance with his flower arrangements and even lent his personal collection of mercury glass to add reflective elements at each dinner table.

As a native of New Orleans and having roots in Nashville, both food and music were important elements to our wedding. Kristen Winston Catering not only produced dishes of superb quality but ones that hinted at my southern ties, including miniature muffalettas, cheese beignets, and jambalaya. Holding our event in Music City meant there would be no shortage of amazing musicians and bands to choose from. We wanted the music to help set the ambiance for each event, so we started with a string quartet for the ceremony, transitioned to a blue grass duo for cocktails, and ended with an extremely talented nine-piece band called Live Revival for our reception.

Planning our wedding was an unbelievably joyful experience. It certainly helped to have a clear vision of what I wanted going into the process, but it was no doubt eased by the dedication and professionalism of those I worked with. Many thanks to Jayne Bubis and Debbie Lundy for helping plan and execute our special day and to John and Lindsey Bamber, as well as Cardboard Films, for capturing every detail. I hope every couple feels the happiness we do when reflecting on their own wedding!

Driftwood Wedding Inspiration

Inspired by the prettiest of driftwood, this shoot from Kristyn Hogan and Cedarwood Weddings took a rustic-to-refined concept and turned it into the loveliest wedding inspiration. And I’m loving every single inch of it. As driftwood is worn, tumbled and beaten by the waves—the soft, elegant and curvy result is oh-so-lovely. Sort of the perfect natural decor for any seaside soiree, if you ask me. See more right here!

From Cedarwood WeddingsOur appreciation of driftwood evolved into a passion for combing Tennessee lakeshores (including Cedarwood’s own Mooncake Lake) for unique pieces of wood smoothed by nature and time into sculptured works of art. This transformation from rustic-to-refined inspired our design team’s “Wildwood” wedding inspiration.

Partnering with The Dress Theory, we selected designer Sarah Janks’ “Briana” gown to complement our event team’s “Wildwood” styling contrasts. The SJ bride, according to the designer, is “a study in nonchalance, moving from sophisticated to sexy, and a beautiful contrast of strong and vulnerable.” To reflect this unique balance is the aim of our event design.

We infused both dramatic and romantic qualities in styling by blending re-claimed, weathered wood and antler sheds with organic hues, exotic flowers, and sequin-embellished linens. A driftwood chandelier (custom installation of flowers and candlelight reflecting in glass globes) hangs over the head table, repeating elements from the tablescape. Hand-lettered driftwood sentiments for guests, French bistro chairs and driftwood charger plates lend a warm, rustic- organic quality to the sophisticated ambiance.

Befitting the exciting romantic mood of our event styling, the bride and groom glide across Cedarwood’s Mooncake Lake in a vintage rowboat bedecked with a floral and driftwood garland.

Fall Nashville Wedding at Cedarwood

For all of you pretties out there planning a fall fête, this beauty designed and hosted by Cedarwood is overflowing with the prettiest inspiration. With a color palette that wows, florals that will leave your jaw on your desk and perfectly placed details around every corner, you simply can’t miss all the pretty snapped up by Jen And Chris Creed waiting for you in this gallery.

From Jen and Chris Creed PhotographyDiane and Glenn were married on a gorgeous (although warmer than usual!) fall day at Historic Cedarwood in Nashville, TN. Their purple and orange color palette was perfect for the fall! Diane and Glenn met in college, through Diane’s sorority sister. It took several tries before they finally ended up on a date, and the rest was history! Glenn proposed while they were out geocaching with Diane’s parents (such a sweet story!). They now live in Nashville with their awesome dog Emma Lynn!

A few notable details…Their guests enjoyed dinner at tables set up under the stars in the garden! Diane’s bouquet was wrapped in her grandmother’s lace gloves, and had her grandfather’s pin from WWII. The Jordan almonds are an Italian wedding tradition, and a nod to the bride’s family. The flags on the front of the house were the state flags of KY (Glenn’s home state) and NY (Diane’s home state). The groom’s cake was a Louisville Cardinals cake (Glenn is from Louisville).
