A Heavenly White & Gold Nursery

Confession time. Actually, I’m confessing before the crime. Because I admitting to all of you that when little ones come onto my horizon, I will be copying every little detail of this absolutely perfect nursery. Every detail. I couldn’t love it more if I tried, and these images from Elsy Photography explain why.

Decorating a nursery for Leila was something that was so special to me. My inspiration came from a verse in Revelation that briefly describes Heaven. “The street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.” Having a child is the closest thing I could imagine to having a little piece of Heaven on earth. I wanted her nursery to look pure and full of light. My hope is that one day Leila will look back at the pictures of her nursery and see how excited we were for her arrival. Picking out details with friends and helping my husband put up shelves were all fun memories we made as we eagerly waited. Each day that we worked on her nursery was one day closer to the day we got to meet our precious baby girl.

Classic Elegance at The Glenbrook Club

Can we talk about this Bride’s chignon for a sec? It was this first capture from Elisabeth Millay that pulled me into this classic soiree and still has me completely captivated. What is it about a perfect hair-do that gets us girls so crazy excited?! And don’t even get me started on her Vera Wang dress. Dying. I might suggest that you head on over to the full gallery to indulge a bit more—sooo worth it.

From the beautiful Bride…Chris and I were married in a place very special to both of us. We got married at my family’s vacation getaway in Glenbrook, Lake Tahoe. I have spent 30 summers growing up in Glenbrook, and introduced Chris to “Glenbrook heaven” when we first starting dating. It was the first place he told me he loved me, and where we’ve had countless family celebrations, such as my grandfather’s 90th birthday and my brother’s wedding. There is a magical serenity about this hidden cove of Lake Tahoe, and it was the ideal setting to launch our adventure together.

I wanted to take advantage of the rustic nature of Lake Tahoe but also bring in classic elegance to the venue. The ceremony took place on a grassy spot overlooking the Lake, with a string trio welcoming our guests as they mingled over lemonade and enjoyed the views. It was a a warm, breezy, perfect September Lake Tahoe day.

We tented the front deck of the clubhouse and strung cafe lights, creating a romantic and elegant ambiance among the Tahoe pine trees. I incorporated pine cones throughout the reception decor; since I was a little girl, the moment we’d drive into the gates of Glenbrook I’d open the car window to smell the fresh pine air, so it was special to incorporate what exemplifies Tahoe to me. Leading up to the wedding, I spent hours collecting pine cones around the lake. We used them as table number holders and escort card holders.

In contrast to the rustic pine cones, we had soft almond linens, ivory striped runners on farm tables, and the head and cake tables were adorned with blush sequin runners. Candles throughout the reception imbued a romantic and cozy vibe. Classic calligraphy elements were displayed throughout the ceremony, from escort and place cards, to handwritten menus and signs. I surprised Chris (a Notre Dame alum and Irish football fanatic) with a Notre Dame-themed groom’s carrot cake, which paired beautifully with our “celebration” funfetti and banana peanut butter cakes simply adorned with ruffled frosting and garden roses. I will never forget that special moment cutting the cake with my mother’s heirloom silver cake cutter, taking in the energy and love from our friends and family in the room. Our flowers were an exquisite pink and blush mix of garden roses, roses, hydrangeas, dahlias, ranunculus, anemones and greenery.

Our signature cocktails included a “Ritz 100” which we toasted with after we were engaged in London at The Ritz, and a Rob Roy which is Chris and his father’s special drink. Fresh and local dishes included an appetizer of truffle risotto, entrees of wild salmon and new york steak, paired with heirloom tomatoes, late summer succotash and roasted baby potatoes.

After the pink and pearl confetti toss sending us off on our decorated golf cart, guests departed armed with french macaron favors which my bridesmaids and I spent hours lovingly packaging the day before with pink ribbons over glasses of rose.

From day one, Chris and I simply wanted an amazing party celebrating with our family and closest friends. We had an incredible band, everyone danced the night away, and it was an evening exuding love and friendship, with many memorable moments. Our fairytale wedding!

Romantic Ivory + Grey Ojai Valley Inn Wedding

Any wedding lined with Diana McGregorToast Santa BarbaraLove This Day EventsTEAM Hair And Makeup and Ojai Valley Inn on the vendor list is destined for perfection right from the start. And when said wedding includes the dreamiest grey and ivory color palette, ridiculously gorgeous calligraphy details and a couple who couldn’t be more in love, the result is a gallery we might never leave. See the day unfold below!

From The Bride…Chase and I met on a flight from Toronto to New York City. Unbeknownst to us at the time, we were both doing consulting work in Toronto and living in New York City, making the commute back and forth on a weekly basis. One fateful Thursday evening, on a return flight, we were assigned seats next to each other (a rare, but fortunate occasion since we both normally book window seats). We spent the entire flight talking from the moment we sat down until we de-planed in New York. It sounds cliché, but from that very first encounter we both knew that there was something special between us. When we landed in New York, he took my number and shortly thereafter we had our first date.

Pretty soon we were inseparable, seeing each other every day, whether we were co-located in Toronto (Chase driving almost an hour each way to pick me up for dinners after work) or back in NYC. Our short courtship was filled with fun, adventure, excitement, and a great deal of travel. On a trip to Cabo San Lucas, soon after our one year anniversary, Chase took me on a boat to Lover’s Beach and got down on one knee. I think I said “yes” before he even asked me to marry him.

We wanted to have a wedding that was personal, intimate and centered on the union of our families. With Chase’s family being from Arizona and mine from Colorado, we decided on neutral ground – California. Nestled against the backdrop of the Topa Topa Mountains, Ojai serves as the perfect retreat. What led us to choose Ojai Valley Inn & Spa as our venue was the natural beauty of the resort grounds and the serenity that it elicits, as well as the amazing staff. Ojai truly was the perfect location for our dream wedding as well as a hidden jewel that we knew our family and friends would enjoy.

I stumbled upon Kara Delay of Love This Day Events very early on, and in viewing her portfolio I connected with her work immediately. I decided to hire her before I even had the venue, much less the state, confirmed. With an abundance of inspiration, Kara served as my cornerstone and siphon, pulling together all my ideas (and filtering out the bad ones) into a cohesive vision and plan. In addition, she directed me to excellent vendors such as our florist, Toast.

Our vision for the wedding was simple and understated elegance, infused with organic and natural elements. We let the terrain and natural flora guide the design. Complementing the natural beauty of the Herb Garden, we decided to use a lot of green foliage (seeded eucalyptus, olive, rosemary, and other foraged greenery) along with a variety of white garden roses and peonies, sprinkling in light grey as an accent color.

My favorite moment of the day was standing at the ceremony before our officiant with the love of my life. We worked with our officiant – a pastor Chase has known since middle school – to create a ceremony that was very personal and special to us. We chose literary and biblical readings to be incorporated, as well as the Apache wedding prayer, a nod to my husband’s Native American heritage. We finished the ceremony by reciting our handwritten vows to one another. We were anxious about writing our own vows, but it was important to both of us that these words and promises were our own.

My favorite wedding detail was my jewelry, all custom designed and expertly crafted by my new sister-in-law, Lindsey Almquist of EmmaQuist Jewelry. Not only did she create my gorgeous Asscher-cut engagement ring, but both of our wedding bands as well. The bands feature the “Forget Me Not” floral design, prevalent in the 18th and early 19th centuries and originating in medieval times as a symbol of faithfulness and enduring love. I wanted something simple, yet meaningful, that wouldn’t distract from the beauty my engagement ring and something that I could wear on our frequent traveling excursions. Aside from my jewelry, I loved my ‘something old, new, borrowed, and blue’. My ‘something old’ was an heirloom, vintage brooch that belonged to my great grandmother which I fastened to the base of my bouquet. My ‘something new’ was my wedding dress; a simple, yet stunning, Romona Kaveza gown made of raw silk, which exemplified the theme of the wedding and my style. My ‘something borrowed’ was a pair of baroque pearl earrings from my gracious mother-in-law. Finally, my something blue was a blue ribbon from a card I made for my dad when I was a little girl that my mom sewed into my dress.

When the day finally arrived, it all felt like a dream: from walking down the winding pathway through the Herb Garden with my father to the sea of sparklers bidding us farewell…

After exchanging vows in the intimate and magical Herb Garden, our guests sipped a lavender infused cocktail, our signature drink, and ate an assortment of hors d’oeuvres under the garden pergola as the golden sun faded and the Topa Topa Mountains were lit ablaze with a vibrant, pink hue. Grey pashminas’ were provided to our guests to stay warm as the sun went down and the brisk evening chill set in. At dusk, guests were escorted to the terracotta-tiled Anacapa Terrace to dine under a canopy of strung café lighting. Tables were covered with light grey linen table clothes and adorned with candles. The long head table was lined with a garland of olive branches and other green foliage. Set amongst the foliage were hurricane vases of varying height, illuminating the entire terrace with a spectacular glow. Two Spanish guitarists along with a percussionist serenaded us with Latin music as we dined on Wild Salmon and Oven Roasted Chicken. At the end of our meal, guests leisurely enjoyed cigars on the terrace, while dancing commenced in the ballroom.

The night concluded with a sparkler sendoff. We are extremely blessed to have had such a special night, sharing our love with our friends and family, and we are grateful to have had Diana McGregor so exquisitely capture the evening and the memories that we will cherish forever.

The planning, design and execution were superb and I cannot praise enough the people who understood and shared my vision and who went above and beyond to produce a beautiful event. Many thanks to all of the great people who worked so hard to make the weekend in Ojai so memorable!

Cozy Country Valentine’s Wedding Inspiration

Considering New England is currently buried in what feels like mile high snow, this snowy Maine Valentine’s inspiration couldn’t be more fitting. Chock-full of cozy moments designed by A Family Affair Of Maine and drop-your-jaw blooms from Broadturn Farm, this rich red lovefest is a true celebration of the season and Emily Delamater was on hand it capture each bit.

From A Family Affair Of Maine… This charming sweetheart inspiration was designed with whimsical woodland features, accentuating the copious beauty of Maine winter. The backdrop is a pastoral setting in an 1870 built farmhouse that carries a rich history and eclectic mix of modern and vintage furnishings. Incorporating various shades of red symbolizing love, we represent an old fashioned St. Valentines day in true New England fashion.

Our Bride is dressed in a vintage antique lace Victorian wedding gown paired with a fur stole wrap and leather gloves. Her soft curls are adorned with a spray rose, ranunculus and wax flower crown.

The Groom wears red plaid and bowtie, warm grey wool and suit jacket. His boutonniere is composed of privet berry, ranunculus, wax flower and spray rose. Our table scape design involves a recycled barn board table with unique white post legs, paired with two vintage mahogany high backed chairs with bright red velvet seats. Laser cut wood plates adorn each chair signifying seating for the Bride and Groom. White benches are made warm with dark fur blankets for the wedding party. Red velvet cloth runs down the length of the table, and is a beautiful canvas for the immense and stunning floral design consisting of roses, amaryllis, ranunculus, wax flower, privet berry and viburnum. Brass candle sticks hold various shades of candles to add to the romance and color scheme, while dark antler sheds accentuated the woodland vibe. Each of the vintage etched glass plates were further complimented by warm brass chargers with rattan detail. The place settings were personalized with custom laser cut pinecones and handmade rosemary wreaths set atop vintage napkins. White milk glass wine goblets were paired with antique crystal.

The wedding cake was a smooth ivory fondant embellished with a hand crafted red rose cluster with deep green vines and a single intricate antler. The Bride and Groom initial cake topper was machine cut acrylic with a wood grain technique and enveloped with a wood carved frame.

The outdoor ceremony was created with intensions of evoking a feeling of warmth in the cold. A fireplace mantle bearing warm quilts, framed with the warm color of the floral garlands and brass elements helped to create a sense of passion and glow. Bridal portraits on a vintage wood framed sofa in the snow and a bold wool sweater conceptualizes all the ways the color red embodies love, romance, excitement and affection.

Garden Fairytale Valentine Wedding Inspiration

Valentine’s Day is my annual excuse to be as girly as possible. To fill our home with blooms galore and wear something a little extra pink and sparkly. I’m starting the party a bit early with Anna Delores and team, as I gaze at this gallery of gorgeous. It’s slightly enchanted, sweetly vintage and plays out like a fairytale, from Glitz‘s overall design to Pretty Vintage Rentals‘ lovelies and everything in between.

From the Planners of Glitz Event Design StudioA romantic color palette, antique details, and a breathtakingly detailed blush bridal gown- these were just some of the elements behind our Garden Fairytale wedding inspiration. Hartley Botanica provided a beautiful setting that fully encompassed our vision, and was complete with arbor lined pathways, statuettes, and abundant greenery. The seriously pretty invitation set by Umama is the perfect opening to this whimsical soiree.

For the tablescape we wanted to showcase a dreamy and romantic look. We combined antique
details and mixed soft patterns and textures with unique rentals from Pretty Vintage Table to
create a fairytale-like scene. The ascot wood table and mix of tapestry and velvet chairs was
softened by blush tone La Tavola Linens. For the table settings we paired blush depression
glassware, gold flatware, mix-matched china, and crystal salt cellars at each setting. To draw
further into the antique inspiration we incorporated vintage oil lanterns, gold taper candlesticks
with blush candles and cloches with floral accents along either side of the centerpiece. The
gold mirrored table set the stage for the noteworthy Happily Ever After cake provided by Frost
it Cakery.

The chemistry between our real couple was undeniable. The bride looked stunning adorned in
elegant BHLDN bridal accessories and a detailed blush Monique Lhuillier bridal gown provided
by Nearly Newlywed. The enchanting look was completed with a braid inspired ponytail and
ethereal makeup done by Crystal Huber Makeup. The groom wore a floral Grunion Run tie that
paired handsomely with the boutonnière. The florals by Knot Just Flowers showcased a rich
palette of reds, pink, and greens, with a feature of whimsical details.

Our favorite detail of the day was a trio of greenery wrapped skeleton lamp shades acting as a
chandelier. The always amazing Emily, of Anna Delores Photography, captured all of the beauty.

Sophisticated Chicago Tavern Wedding

Set alongside the Chicago river, this darling duo wed amongst family, friends, and a stunning view. Cattails transformed their ideas of romance into beautiful arrangements that perfectly complemented the South Branch Tavern space. From Jenny Yoo clad ‘maids hopping on a trolley, to every cityscape scene, the gallery captured by Jacqui Cole is the best place to see it all, more here!

From Jacqui Cole PhotographyRachel and Chris’ wedding was such a happy and elegant affair! They chose to have their ceremony and reception outside at South Branch Tavern, Chicago. Their style was sophisticated and chic, yet super fun at the same time! Rachel looked absolutely stunning in her Pronovias gown and the Jenny Yoo bridesmaid dresses complimented her perfectly.

The day began at the beautiful getting ready suite at The Palmer House Hilton. Rachel and Chris decided to have a first look at Lurie Gardens in Millennium Park. It was such a sweet and intimate moment between the bride and groom.

The venue itself holds stunning views over Chicago’s river, where the guest’s enjoyed their cocktail hour. We were able to sneak out to capture an iconic image of the couple in the middle of a Chicago bridge!

Dinner was held inside the restaurant, with bright florals and a beautiful metallic cake! When hosting a wedding reception at a class-A downtown restaurant you can be sure that the food was outstanding! The dinner reception then welcomed guests onto the open air dance floor on a perfect summer’s evening. After the heartfelt first dance, they partied the night away underneath the city lights.

From The Bride and Groom…We spent nearly three months driving around Chicagoland to find the perfect venue for our wedding. Since we were not getting married in a church, we wanted to find a place that could host both a ceremony and reception. We also were looking for something close to the city for our friends and family from out of town. Since we wanted to shy away from having a ‘wedding color’, a space that was already decorated was a high priority. When we stumbled across South Branch Tavern & Grille, we both sensed that we had found our venue. The beautiful indoor dinner space and outdoor bar were exactly what we were looking for.

Jacqui Cole was, by far, the most helpful, professional and skillful vendor we dealt with throughout the wedding planning process. She helped make our wedding day go very smoothly, and in the process captured beautiful photos. Lisa Atterberry from Cattails did a phenomenal job transforming our ideas into beautiful floral arrangements that perfectly complemented the space.

One of the best parts of our wedding day was hopping on a trolley, and riding around the city to take photos before the ceremony. It was fun wandering through the Lurie Gardens and Olive Park in full wedding gear. We would advise anyone who reads this to really take the time to get to know your vendors. The more time you spend with them, the easier it is for them to capture and create exactly what you are looking for. Also, remember it’s your party… have fun!

Intimate Arizona Desert Garden Wedding

Accentuating Arizona’s gorgeous landscape, this Desert Botanical Garden affair is stunning to say the least. Lovely details like cacti centerpieces, vibrant Tatum Flowers bouquets, touches of gold, and the gorgeous herb garden perfectly contrast the simplicity of natural terrain. Pinkerton Photography was behind the lens snapping up a gallery that radiates warmth and love, right here!

From Pinkerton PhotographyYesmina & Adam’s Desert Garden wedding was the perfect mix of gorgeous color & the simplicity of the desert – vibrant pinks & yellows set against the glowey green of the Botanical Garden & Herb Garden! Their aim was an intimate gathering for only their closest friends & family, most of whom would travel from afar, so accentuating Arizona’s gorgeous landscape seemed like the perfect idea. The cacti centerpieces, vibrant bouquets, touches of gold, and the gorgeous herb garden make up some of their lovely details. The day itself was as relaxed as can be, and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard as I did with this crew. And I certainly have never before had a bride get down on her hands & knees (in her dress) to pick cacti spines out of my foot!! Excited to share this very unique day with you!

Elegant Vancouver Summer Wedding

The giant inflatable ball with this couple’s emotions spelled right out might be the most adorable wedding accessory yet. This perfect photo prop was the icing on the cake to an already gorgeously elegant celebration, and Gucio Photography snapped it all, from every precious flower girl to every precocious ring bearer. Don’t miss out on all the Pinterest-worthy treats right this way!

From The Bride… Brian and I met in 2005, our last year of high school. Over the past eight years, we had to endure a long distance relationship, with me living in Vancouver, and Brian playing junior hockey all over BC, and four years in Moorhead, Minnesota. The distance was a challenge, but every plane ride, ferry, and delayed Greyhound bus was worth the wait a million times over.

When Brian was on a trip home to Vancouver in March, he proposed. I think it is safe to say, I already had the wedding planned! We knew joining Chinese and Filipino backgrounds, plus numerous hockey teams and billet families, it was going to be a very big party and that the help would be plentiful. In the end, we had a total of eight bridesmaids, seven groomsmen, five flower girls, and four ring bearers to join us on our big day.

Even before meeting with vendors and picking a location, we already knew that we wanted to have a venue overlooking Vancouver with an outdoor space. All I could envision were candles and white flowers everywhere.

The year before the wedding, we started using our “hashtag”, #kangerswedding. It probably started to bug people seeing all of the photos leading up to the day with the hashtag, but in the end it paid off. The day after the wedding it was amazing to see how many people actually used it and it was so easy to see their photos from our special day.

A huge chunk of the wedding ended up being DIY. We had a big group help set up the wedding reception venue day before. My dad did the draping; while the bridesmaids and family members set up tables and chairs. The flowers and bouquets were made by myself, my cousin, my mother and mother-in-law. The beautiful cake was made by Brian’s talented cousin. The invitations, graphics and favor cookies were all made by a friend. The tutu’s for the flower girls and all the signs were made by myself. I was lucky enough to have friends in the staging industry who lent us props and furniture. One of my favourite tables to put together was the kids table; making sure they wouldn’t be bored. It was complete with lego, colouring books, origami, and more. And by far my favourite piece of decor from the wedding, our big love ball! Needless to say, it was a big family affair, exactly what a wedding should be.

We ended the night with an all-you-can-eat gelato bar from Mario’s Gelato (complete with Brian’s favourite Asian inspired flavour, black sesame), a cigar bar, sparklers, the big LOVE ball, and of course, our favorite honey crueler timbits.

We cannot begin to express how thankful we are for every person who was involved in our wedding. To our amazing friends and family who have supported us over our crazy journey. To our incredible parents, who we would be nowhere without. And to our crazy talented vendors, for truly tying everything together, making our day come to life and capturing memories we will have forever.

From the beautiful Bride… The first time Zeid and I got coffee we were co-workers living in states over 3,000 miles apart, both dating other people. It should’ve been an ordinary day, an innocuous cup of coffee, but something clicked and we knew it. I called my grandmother right after and told her that I had met the most amazing man. Fast forward several months later, we began our long-distance dating adventure. After a relocation to the same state and 1000 days of dating (yes he counted) Zeid proposed.

Some little girls spend years imagining their gowns or their flowers on their “big days”, but I was the girl who knew for years what music I wanted to walk down the aisle to – “Joy” by George Winston. A friend from college ended up learning to play it on the piano for me and that made it even more special.

I think what surprised me the most about the ceremony was how natural everything felt. I was a little jittery right before, but experienced an overwhelming sense of peace and calm once my dad and I began to walk down the aisle. Everything was the way it was meant to be.

So many of our family and friends helped out to add finishing touches and make logistics easier and that was very humbling. The day played out like a fairy tale and we feel incredibly blessed and thankful.

Before hiring a band for your event I would advise to check all the obvious things, like their experience at similar events, have a look at their full repertoire and also check that their image fits with your style. Our vintage style gets complimented a lot by our clients and certainly stands us out from the crowd.

2. Make sure they can perform your first dance in the way that you want; we often make songs our own, so our clients have a unique first dance which none of their friends will have!

3. I guess every band is different, but when hiring SALUT we are often heavily involved with the whole day, providing music throughout the afternoon, the evening party session and the DJ. So, advicewise, I would say work with a band who you get on well with as they will be playing a big part in your day. We have been lucky to work with only lovely couples!

SMP: Can you tell us some all-time favorite dance songs that get everyone on the dance floor?
SALUT: We love to go wild with some of the biggest anthems ever released, we mash them up into original medleys, making sure the dance floor is always moving. Our favourite tunes to get the party rocking is our Prince and Earth Wind & Fire Medley, or when Bruno Mars’ “Treasure” meets Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You.” There’s not a quiet moment when SALUT are partying, so come join our party!

Romantic Spring Wedding at the Palm House

I’m not supposed to choose favorites, but, honestly, from the moment I laid my eyes on this gorgeous Brooklyn affair, I knew it would forever be that wedding.  The wedding that seamlessly paired breathtaking beauty, an amazing team of vendors (think Judy Pak, Designs By Ahn and Sarah Ritchie) and a crafty + stunning bride to create what can only be described as perfection.  See it all here.

From The Bride… A few years ago I took some recreational flower arranging classes at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and took note of the Palm House, a beautiful glass greenhouse nestled in the garden. A few years later, after Brendan and I got engaged, we visited the Palm House and I fell in love with it again—as a wedding venue! The garden’s romantic, elegant aesthetic and proximity to our home in Brooklyn made it the perfect location for us.

The venue really served as the inspiration for our wedding, and we decided to play up the natural beauty of the setting with a garden theme focused on shades of purple, silver accents, and succulents. I choose a beautiful Mikaella gown that had flower lace details on the bodice and a sheer organza overlay that I thought complemented the organic feel of the venue. Serving as my own wedding planner, I was heavily involved in the design of the wedding, and really enjoyed infusing little personal touches along the way. I did the calligraphy on the invitations and escort cards, assembled all the wedding favors (personalized M&Ms in mini glass jars with leaf tags), and made table numbers (painted wooden numbers on a moss ball) and wedding signage. I enlisted my dad to paint all the props for the photobooth and he totally surprised me with his hidden artistic talent! Designs by Ahn not only made beautiful bouquets and gorgeous arrangements, but also fulfilled my dream of having succulents in silver buckets serve as escort card holders.

Despite a brutally cold winter in New York, and a much delayed spring, magnolias miraculously bloomed the day before our wedding and our wedding day was warm and sunny. I walked down the aisle to “I Choose You” by Sara Bareilles, sung by two of my talented bridesmaids. We said our vows beneath the blossoms, with the sun setting behind us, and I reveled in how happy and lucky we were to marry each other in such a beautiful setting, surrounded by the love of our family and friends. Judy Pak did a phenomenal job capturing the day with gorgeous images, and we danced the night away on the packed dance floor, thanks to our outstanding band, the A-Town Band. CharlesSallyCharles, the caterers at the Palm House, not only served up delicious food, but were tireless in ensuring that the day proceeded smoothly. I can’t thank my vendors enough for making our wedding the amazingly fun and memorable day that it was!

Wedding films are my jam. I start in and before you know it, I’m crying with vows and laughing at toasts. But then a show stopper like this one by REB6studios comes along and I’m swept off my feet. Capturing a gorgeous Malibu summer wedding, this one has it all: stunning views, emotional words and one madly in love couple. Have those tissues ready, because some happy tears are about to arrive!

From REB6studios The location of this wedding was a private estate, from the movie set of Hangover, so it might be very familiar! Our clients, Rebecca and Michael are TV producers who found us through a wedding blog that they follow. Their wedding cinematography was very important to them and felt that our style was a perfect fit for them. They said, “We thought Reb6’s films were unlike any other wedding videos out there. Not only are they cinematic, but the audio on their example films was excellent, the editing unique, and the colors vibrant. We Skyped with Sigmund and felt his company was a perfect fit for us. The day of our wedding, he pulled out all the stops. He even had an extra person there and a helicopter drone!”

Romantic Pink-on-Pink California Wedding

With Valentine’s just mere days away, sharing the prettiest pink-filled wedding only felt fitting. Planned with love by Chic To Chic Weddings and bursting with bloomage crafted by Petal Florals, it’s everything a classic, feminine bride could want and the gallery from Honey Honey Photography – complete with an appearance by the couple’s darling Yorkie – is sooo worth a sweet, long look.

From The Bride…Don and I met through a mutual friend in 2011, he started texting me right away since the first day we met. From the moment he woke up to the moment he went to sleep, we would text all day long without missing a single day until our first date couple of months later. We knew from the beginning that this was forever and it didn’t take long before Don decided to propose at home.

We wanted an outdoor wedding and that was an absolute must. Luckily we live in Southern California where the weather was warm enough for an outdoor ceremony and reception in November. We wanted everything to be pretty in pink and gold. We also wanted everything to be vintage and elegant and the Mansion as the backdrop was perfect for it. As were the vintage rentals from Etablir, every piece was so perfect for our wedding and our style. They had the most gorgeous gold vintage mirrors and we filled our reception with their gold mirrors and candelabras. We wanted it to feel like a romantic fairytale with lots of candles and bistro lighting.

We searched high and low for the perfect venue, we knew Muckenthaler was perfect for the outdoor ceremony and reception areas. The mansion itself reminded us of Hearst Castle, which we visited on our first road trip together, except that Muckenthaler was right in our neighborhood. The grounds were so romantic and gorgeous that we felt we had to have our wedding here. It also helped that they have exclusive catering and rentals that handle everything and makes the whole process a lot easier on the brides.

We wanted our ceremony to be short and sweet. We had my brother serve as the officiant and my niece as the flower girl. We didn’t have a ring bearer so we dressed up our 3-year old yorkie in a tux and had Don’s brother who was a groomsmen, carry him down the aisle. Our mothers were dressed in traditional Korean dresses and each carried a small rose bouquet as they walked down the aisle. We wrote our own vows and decided to not to have any other traditions or ceremony as we felt that our vows were all we needed. After we were announced as Mr. and Mrs., our guests tossed petals from our DIY toss bags that read “I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand & the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep & there are no words for that”

Centia, our florist decorated all our floral arrangements with beautiful garden roses and hydrangeas. I really wanted peonies but since our wedding was in November they were harder to find and more expensive, still she managed to find some to put in my bouquet and I couldn’t be more grateful. We wanted our flowers to be pink and white with pops of color on the pink. During the cocktail hour we had a rose wall taped to the walls with gold glittered washi tapes and had Etablir’s white and gold lounge seats where we placed our photo album from our engagement shoot we took in Korea. Guests were able to enjoy our photo album and took more photos of themselves in the lounge area than the Photo Booth itself.

For the reception, I knew I wanted something different from a candy/dessert station. Since our wedding was in November and outdoors, we decided to have a hot chocolate bar. We also wanted to have donuts to go along with the hot chocolate, as it is our favorite and we have been on so many donut runs throughout the years. Etablir managed to find us shelves to set up our hot chocolate/donut bar and painted them in gold to match our colors. Our florist arranged flowers to go on top of the shelves that surrounded the words “baby it’s cold outside” that Don had stenciled out of foam boards. We wanted an intimate and romantic setting for the reception and the outdoor lawn was more than perfect for the amount of guests we had. We played a lot of Michael Buble during dinner and some old school hip hop for open dancing, although most of the guests were busy at the open bar to be dancing. The evening turned out to be magical, romantic, fairytale, elegant all mixed into one beautiful night spent with our closest family and friends. Don and I could not be happier to start our life with a beautiful day.

We wanted the cake to be classic and simple but also wanted it to have gold and pink to incorporate our wedding colors. We ended up decorating the top and second tier with gold and white ribbons and the second tier to be all pink. It saved us a ton of money and didn’t look overdone with the pink or gold.

Both gowns were custom designed by Kara Bridal, so were the veil, jewelry all were from Kara. I knew I wanted two different styles for the ceremony and reception, and while I only got to wear the first gown during our short ceremony, most of the pictures were taken in it that I felt like I had it on the whole day! The second dress was more slimming and easier to get around all the tables during the reception. Shoes were Manolo Blahnik!

Homemade Snack Mix

I wanted to share an easy, totally adjustable Food Gift Love recipe perfect for making this weekend. You know, just in time for a get-together with friends, or just in time for binge-watching a season of Jane the Virgin. I came across this beautiful homemade snack mix from How Sweet it Is and found a way to make it mine. xoxo Maggie of Eat Boutique

My version is filled with some of the funkier, prettier finds from the by-the-pound grocery aisle, like sesame snacks and crispy noodle bits. For the big heart holiday, I added in swedish fish because they just make sense this time of year, or any time, for that matter. And the whole mix is coated in a butter spice mixture that’s not too spicy. This snack mix is perfect for a couch-surfing snack and shines stuffed into tiny jars and given away at the office.
