Every New Year should be marked with a little bit of sparkle in my opinion. Because really, how many times a year do you get to wear full-on sequins, set a table as shiny as this one, throw around confetti and sip on bub all night long? This slice of inspiration is more than just pretty pictures my friends, Simply by Tamara Nicole and Blue Rose Photography have laid out THE perfect New Year's Eve party guide, from details and decor to styling up yourself. Get all the deets below and see more in The Vault!
From Blue Rose Photography... Pop open some bubbly, and let the soiree begin! We wanted to show a playful and modern perspective on a Holiday Dinner Party. From how to's on getting ready, to what to wear, paper goods, holiday decor, food, drinks, and more, this shoot has you covered!

The Invitations

A great party starts with a fun invitation to your guests. Mint Afternoon created all of the paper goods for this shoot, as well as calligraphy. As the first thing that your guests see, make sure the invitation sets the mood for your party. Gives them a little peek into what to expect.

Deck the halls

We all LOVE to decorate our house (and tree) for the holidays! We wanted to keep things somewhat minimal, mostly black and white, but add that holiday sparkle and glitter with mixed metallics. The mini tree was spray painted white to give it that snowy look, and then random tips were painted different metallic colors to add a little flair. Ornaments were hand lettered, with fun holiday words/sayings. We hung the stockings (from One Affirmation and Davie and Chiyo) from a black branch with care. Add in some lights, a great rug, and some pillows and you are set. OH and don't forget to wrap your presents and add some fun calligraphy tags, pinecones, washi tape, etc. Tip: Dress up some plain simple wrapping paper with stripes of washi tape.

The Cocktails

All good parties have some great drinks! Here Ravishing Radish created some great winter cocktails to impress your guests. Moscow Mule (because the copper mugs!) a Classic Negroni, and a Snowy Cosmo with white cranberry juice. Greet your guests with a drink and you have them from the moment they walk in.

The Menu

Plan a great menu! For holiday parties I am a fan of doing a great variety of smaller bites, less heavy, and easier to grab a bite and mingle in between. The menu by Ravishing Radish included Curried Chicken Canape, Baked Brie filled with dried winter fruits, pistachios and apricot compote, arugula and artisan cheeses, Dungeness crabcakes, & meatloaf sliders. Family style is always a great conversation starter, and feels so cozy and intimate. Plate each item with care and on fun pedestals and platters, and garnish with herbs etc. for a polished look.

Setting the Table

With a glittering white linen, the tablescape was kept white and minimal, sparkling like snow on a sunny day!. Above the table was a greenery chandelier created by From the Ground Up Floral with Plumosa Fern, painted various mixed metal colors, but light and delicate. Each guest had a calligraphy menu with a swash of metallic silver. Add a little fun with a glitter pine cone. Here we used copper to match the flatware and copper Moscow Mule mugs. Add some fun floral pieces in various heights, and some fun modern taper candles. Here the candle holders are from World Market, and the taper candles we painted half in various metallic colors.

Always leave room for dessert! Honey Crumb Cake Studio made some mini cakes, which are so fun and playful. Satisfy all of your guests' tastes with a variety of mini cakes, and it makes for a great display too! Liven it up with a gift exchange, crowns for your guests (pictured here: made with flocked juniper, gilded cedar and copper eucalyptus), and confetti. Have fun! I mean, confetti makes all parties fun right? Pop the bubble, the confetti cannon, and enjoy your party with family and friends . . . while looking fabulous. Cheers!

Fancy Yourself

Look 1. Kaitlyn (silver dress). The most important part of this look is to show off our luminous skin! Use a medium to full coverage foundation all over, add bronzer to give definition to your face and highlighter where light naturally hits your face. For deeper definition cave out your cheeks with a sculpting powder. Don't forget to add lashes, a few coats of mascara and to finish this look go with a soft lip.

Take a Large barrel curling iron, curling away from your face leaving about an inch of hair out of the barrel. Spray volume dry spray throughout your hair and brush out with your fingers. Gather in back and twist into a bun, pulling on the bun to "loosen", creating a messy look, secure with a few bobby pins. Finish with a light hold hairspray.
Look 2. Gabby (gold velvet dress). Glitter and cherry lips! Who says you can't wear both at the same time? We started this look with an even complexion, using Charlotte Tilbury wonder glow. For eyes, we define the eye shape going over the cut crease with a blending brush. Remember, we just want to define the eye. We want the glitter to be the focus! Add the glitter using a flat brush, pack the product carefully across the lid. If you have any fallout use a strip of tape to remove it. To finish the look, add a bright cherry lip stain, be ready to drink & laugh without having to worry about your smile!

The hairstyle is a one-part updo. Start with lightly spraying your hair with Oribe Texture Spray and pull random pieces that you want to keep out in the front. Once you figure out how much from both sides to be pinned back, create a small ponytail with the sides you chose and twist the end, wrap loosely and secure the twisted tail in place.
Look 3. Kristina (Green Dress). With this looks you want to focus on your eyes. Yes, smokey eyes can be a little scary but remember "smokey" is a technique not a "one fits all type of look". Keep your eyeshadow close to your eyes, adding lashes that suit your eye will help you lift them up. Use a soft pink blush to bring some color to your skin, cream blushes will melt in your skin giving you a younger, fresher look! And top it all off with a natural pink lipstick.

Start teasing just at roots all throughout your hair, to give hair some texture and a little shine, use a beach spray throughout and turn head upside down and give it a party shake. Take a deep side part, (hint: take from middle of brow, and part to opposite side). Finish with a light spray!
