I don't know about you, but I would L-O-V-E to be a guest at this merry feast in the Mississippi woods. With a gauzy scarf-topped picnic table, foraged winter greenery, roasted marshmallows and a very sweet black lab named Pepper, this cozy outdoor dinner party from Mitchell Willis Events and Lauren Kinsey is precisely what holiday dreams are made of. See all the merry making in THE VAULT!
From Mitchell Willis Events... When we conceived the idea for this shoot, our inspiration was a Kinfolk-style relaxed dinner between good friends (and dogs!), with delicious holiday food, laughter, and marshmallow roasting. We also wanted to show that creating a beautiful holiday gathering doesn't have to be extremely costly. So, we set out to create a table runner completely out of foraged winter greenery, which was all from the woods around my grandparents’ house in south Mississippi. We used an outdoor table and benches that we already had and covered it with gauzy fabric and lightweight scarves to give a layered appearance (which is another thing readers can do at home without buying an expensive tablecloth!). We also froze cranberries in ice cubes to give a pop of holiday color into everyone’s drinks. We ate delicious butternut squash soup (while Pepper the dog tried her hardest to steal food off the table) and then roasted marshmallows over a fire pit. It was a styled shoot, but we really did laugh and have a great time, and our wish is that people will see that creating a beautiful, fun, comfy party environment is within their reach.
