Turning 30 felt like a fresh start, like opening a journal to the first page and rewriting life a bit. My twenties were filled with some extreme highs, like getting married, but also some very sad points too with some family tragedy. 30 felt like the opportunity to make some changes and celebrate entering a new decade, which inspired the idea to capture it with a camera. I wanted to create something beautiful to enjoy with friends and include my son. An evening decorated with soft colors, lush garden details and beautiful desserts. A space that felt relaxed, classy, and a bit like high tea served with Champagne. I wanted to transform my yard to feel like you walked into an English garden in London--and by chance a rain storm decided to stop by and shower us, which made the whole scene that much more inspired and magical. We don't get a lot of rainy days in California, but it rained on my wedding day and on my 30th birthday. I think the rain holds great symbolism for fresh starts, washing away perfectionism and past moments keeping everyone in the present, yet shining light and beauty through hovering clouds on the now and future. One can only hope the future decade reflects such beauty.
