Behind the Blog with Design Love Fest

Behind the BlogBloggerAt Work
Truth: every single one of us here at SMP has a mega girl crush on Bri, the brilliant mind behind Design Love Fest. In our minds, there is nothing she can't do. So when she agreed to a behind the scenes peek at her world (in her brand new bedroom, no less!) you'd better believe we jumped at the chance. With photos from the amazing Monica Wang, there's more lovely and it's all in the gallery.
SMP: To say we are obsessed with Design Love Fest around the SMP offices would be a massive understatement. You constantly seem to be paving the way in blogland! Where in the world do you come up with all of these wonderful ideas?

I'm often on the road so a lot of my best brainstorming happens when I'm flying. I get to have the space and time to think without the distraction of my computer or phone. It's nice to be able to let the thoughts flow and just write them down in a notebook.
SMP: Why do you think Designlovefest has done so well?

I truly believe in hard work and dedication and I’ve definitely put that into designlovefest since the beginning. I am all about paying attention to details and putting in 100% all the time. I am SO grateful that people find the site inspirational!
SMP: What was the tipping point in your business where you knew it was really going to thrive?

I think what pushes me forward is that i’m never fully comfortable with where my career is at. I’m constantly thinking of new ideas to keep things fresh and new. Honestly, I haven’t had that moment where I felt like everything was set and thriving. I’m always just wondering what’s next!
SMP: What's the best moment of your career so far?

My other business, Blogshop, which is a photoshop workshop for bloggers, sold out the first class in three hours of me posting it. That day shaped my career path and made me cry out of happiness & excitement!
SMP: Your number one blogging tip?

Ask yourself what is something NEW that you are offering to the table? We all have unique lives and personalities and i think it’s important to implement your genuine voice and outlook whenever possible.
SMP: Tough question alert: who's your favourite Instagrammer?

I'm very inspired by the patterns and colors on the @dusendusen account
SMP: As a business owner, what's your best tip for balancing business and personal life?

For me, I actually wasn’t able to figure that out until I made the jump to get my own studio so that I would work less at home and hired my first full-time employee. Before then, I think it’s totally natural to run around like a crazy person, stay up all night, and hustle as hard as you can. You figure out what your strengths are and then hire out for your weaknesses once you are able to (which for me, wasn’t for years)!
SMP: Spill the beans: where do you see yourself in five years?

I have dreams of helping design a hotel or restaurant, and I really would love to be focusing on a travel site or book. But WHO KNOWS! Every year i change my mind.

SMP: And lastly, if you could buy yourself a gift of any cost, what would it be?

Probably a red mercedes from the 60’s.
