DIY Gold Fringe Numbers
December 30, 2013
New Year's DIYParty DIYParty Decor
Let's be honest here. It really shouldn't be legal to ring in the New Year without some big ol' golden numbers hung above-head. And because those party stores are nothing if not expensive, Hello!Lucky  has made their own version. And we, of course, begged them to share (and they were happy to oblige!)
MaterialsThick cardstock
Hole punch
Clear fishing line
Gold paper
Exacto knife
Hot glue

instructionsstep-1Print out large numbers of your choosing and carefully cut around each using a sharp exacto knife.
Note: We used one number per 8.5" x 11" sheet of carstock.

step-2Slice your gold paper into 2" wide ribbons and, using your scissors, cut little slits every 1/4" or so across each ribbon. Be careful not to cut all the way through. You should be left with gold "fringe".

step-3Starting at the bottom of your first number, glue the fringe across it. Continue to add fringe, overlapping each time, as you go.

step-4Trim excess fringe and repeat withe remaining numbers!

step-5Using your hole puncher, punch 2 (or so) holes at the top of each number, and hang using clear fishing wire!
