I'm one of those people that sort of tries to pretend like my birthday doesn't exist. The only surprise party I've ever had was when I turned 16 years old and my friends decorated my new car in maxi pads. I know! Anyway, I think that my tunes are a-changing after devouring this absolutely beautiful, girly goodness of a party that was hosted by some of the most talented wedding ladies around at White Peacock Styled Events! We wanted to throw a chic surprise 40th birthday party, giving the classic girly tea party a sophisticated spin while transforming an unassuming space into something extraordinary. We used a white color palette to make everything feel crisp and elevated, while having soft frills of tassels around the room and small pops of pastel pinks and gold. We decided on hosting it at L’atelier Couture Bridal Boutique which is not only stunning in itself, but allowed us to be surrounded by white gowns galore!

We set a formal dining table in the middle of the space and draped tassels from the ceiling to create a grand entrance. The room’s celebratory look was topped off with several white paddle balloons floating throughout the space. The brick walls contrasted perfectly with our feminine decor, making the whole place feel city chic rather than over-the-top. We made sure our table setting was decadent, placing individual bottles of rose wine at each spot, with a place-card tag attached to each bottle. Gold accents were used in the table settings and we simply spread the center of the table with florals.

We served classic tea party fare, including scones, chicken salad and various tea sandwiches. Draping a beautiful flower garland over the birthday girl’s chair made her place extra special! A couple of different stations were placed around the rest of the room, including a tea bar for hot sips, a bubble bar stocked with champagne, and dessert tables full of cake and French macaroons. We had all of the guests dress in white to continue the girly, opulent feel of the party. These instructions were found on the party invitations, which were hand-delivered to each guests home. The invitations were written on scrolls and attached to a gorgeous frilloon (paddle balloon with tassels), brought to each girl’s door.

Everything came to life when the birthday girl arrived. She was overwhelmed by the space and the gathering of her dear friends. We gave her a flowered crown, popped some bubbly, and enjoyed the soiree to the utmost!
