For me, this cookie is the perfect gifting cookie. Wrapped up beautifully, Brown Eyed Susans are the kind of cookies that are universally loved. So to score a "Grandma Approved" version of the classic, well, I'm feeling like I hit the cookie jackpot. A huge thank you to Shelley's grandmother for making our cookie adventures that much more delicious.
Grandmas Brown Eyed Susans

2 sticks oleo 3 tablespoons sugar
1 tea almond extract 2 c flour
1/2 tsp salt 1 c confectioner's sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract 2 tablespoons cocoa
2 tablespoons hot water
Cream oleo.
Add sugar, almond extract, flour and salt.
Roll a tablespoon of dough into a ball. Flatten slightly with your thumb. Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake 400 degrees for 12 minutes. Remove and let cool.
Make frosting by combining sugar, vanilla, cocoa and water in a bowl. Mix until smooth.
Top cookies adding an almond before the frosting hardens.
