Upon hearing the word "workshop", a few images come to mind: beige classrooms outfitted with fluorescent lighting, long lectures, first-day jitters... But one look at the imagery taken from photographer Jen Huang's recent Sonoma, California workshop, and you instantly know it's something special. Jen crafted this stunning event as a celebratory close to her famed two-day digital and film educational series. Armed with a soft pastel color palette, a helping hand from Summer Watkins and mismatched chairs and dinner wear, she designed a sweet, welcoming dinner party that frankly, we're going to copy! If you're with us, check out some tips for achieving Jen's lush look below. And see the full gallery here.
From Jen Huang... The workshop was held at a private estate in Sonoma and we used mixed and matched elements for a Sonoma wine tasting with Picnic Wine Co. followed by a festive Mexican-style family meal. Foraged plants and flowers from the garden were arranged by myself and my assistants. It was a charming little dinner!

Below, we've identified a few of the event's key elements which'll come in handy when you set to recreate this atmosphere at home. By using simple, pretty pieces and accenting with greenery, and you're already halfway there!
1. Jen thought through every detail down to the chairs. In addition to mixing and matching, she tied pretty greenery to their backs - a great and unexpected way to add a little extra color to your table.

2. Likewise, Jen also placed a pretty stem on each guest's dinner plate. This allows for beautiful china to show through while still giving the tablescape a look of completion.

3. Simply stated, the party's color palette was out of this world gorgeous. Also, this tablescape is a perfect example of why we we're so obsessed with mismatched china. Start collecting now! Over time, you'll build an amazing collection that'll instantly make any table.
