A Modern Elopement Overlooking the Aegean Sea

When you share a love of travel and exploring, a destination wedding in Santorini is the perfect choice. This couple fell in love with the white-washed architecture, pops of blues and stunning ocean views and with the help of  a savvy group of vendors, they channeled all that into a gorgeous modern celebration built for two. Designed by Tie the Knot in Santorini, along with florals by Betty Flowers Santorini, see this rooftop wedding unfold through the gorgeous images by Anna Roussos.

From the bride… My husband is from the USA and I am from Ecuador. We both lived in Europe for a while and met at work in Belgium. Eventually, he returned to San Francisco and we were long distance for about a year until I moved there to be with him. Being so far apart for over a year was tough but we made the best of it by traveling together as often as we could. We love Europe and visited many cities together but we never made it to Santorini. We chose to have our special day there because it’s a place that both of us had always wanted to visit, the white washed cliff houses and blue roof churches are so pretty and the views are unforgettable! We always knew that we didn’t want a big wedding. With our friends and family spread across the world, even planning a small wedding seemed daunting. Eloping was the perfect choice for us! Since we wouldn’t have any guests it was very important to have nice pictures to show our family and friends. We spent a lot of time looking for photographers who have experience shooting in Santorini. Eventually, we met Anna and fell in love with her work as soon as we saw it. Hiring her was one of the first (and best) decisions we made. We wanted our elopement to be simple, modern, and minimal. Maria from Tie the Knot in Santorini did an amazing job in bringing our vision to life – the flowers, the cake, the private dinner – she went above and beyond, always with a smile. We wanted it to be very private and intimate, so we had the ceremony and dinner on the terrace of the beautiful villa we rented. Aenaon Villas is absolutely incredible – so white and minimal – as soon as we saw pictures we knew that it would be the perfect venue!

The Kind of Destination Wedding You Want to Be a Guest At

An invitation arrives on your doorstep for a wedding in Greece—what do you do? RSVP, hell yes! Especially when it’s a stunner like this one planned by White Ribbon Boutique Events. From the Bride’s elegant dress to the breezy al fresco reception, Anna Roussos snapped up every bit, which will have you adding this destination to your bucket list.

From the Bride… We knew when we decided to get married in Greece that we wanted to do something different and a little off the beaten path. Our desire was to show our guests a different side to Greece and the island of Spetses was just the place. The Poseidonion Grand Hotel is not only a landmark of the island, but the most elegant destination. It offered a touch of old-school glam against beautiful blue sea views, lavender blossoms in the garden, a grand staircase (perfect for our first look!) and the glass-tiled pool. As for our ceremony and reception, we really wanted something unique. We decided on Agios Georgios Church and the adjacent Zogeria Beach. The secluded destination, lush greenery and gorgeous waters of the Argolic Gulf were the most idyllic backdrop. Our guests witnessed were transported to Zogeria (accessible by boat only) on the Buona Fortuna boat and witnessed our traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony at the most charming white washed church. Post ceremony, we ventured down the breathtaking path to our beach party setup. The soft color palette really accented the natural beauty of the setting along with the dance floor off the water and the string bistro lighting. The fireworks were the perfect ending the evening as guests danced the night away!

This Wedding’s Motto: More Is More!

Sometimes more is more! More colors, more flowers, more food, and more entertainment can equal one unforgettable wedding when done right. Just take a look at this bohemian luxe event, created by De Plan V, for their fabulous couple. They transformed a seaside villa in Mykonos into a colorful celebration, complete with a fireworks display, live music by The Speakeasies, and synchronized swimmers. Elias Kordelakos was there to capture the party, and we know you’re going to love it!

From Elias KordelakosDanielle and Saif come from Dubai. In love with Greece, they decided to hold their wedding in Mykonos, the island that flaunts its sizzling style and perennial party reputation. From their super energetic couple vibes to mastering the glam of the perfect wedding reception, their festivities were all about vivid colors and tremendous fun. We got along so well and I was thrilled to have been part of their beautiful story. Having the masters of wedding styling, De Plan V, on my side I knew that everything would be – and feel – absolutely perfect.

From De Plan VWe are fine art obsessed, and therefore thrilled to be working aside Elias Kordelakos! His ability to perfectly capture the essence of beauty, his celebration of wedding allure, and his uncompromising style are always a definite winner in our books!

We wished to transform Danielle and Saif’s elegant sea view villa into a sleek haven on earth. Mykonos brims with botanic aromas, and despite being famed for its infinite luxury, it also carries a seriously bohemian vibe. Our palette choice was an array of pinks, peaches, corals, fuchsias, blues, and purples with an emphasis on gold details. Classy cutlery and dinnerware were employed aside delightful blooms adding to the drama of wooden tables made of oak barrels, a boho synthesis of baskets, vintage boxes, crystal, tin basins, and rustic glass jars. A majestic canopy installation welling over with flowers and greenery made for a visually stunning backdrop.

The bridal bouquet was a composition of fanciful florals such as garden roses, celosia, peonies, ruscus, and touches of craspedia, brunia, liatris, succulents, and greenery along with magnificent king protea, all bound with lace and twine. The same concept applied for the bridal wreath and the Groom’s boutonnière. An impressive welcome entrance was styled with lanterns, jars filled with candles, and statement wooden barrels, instantly adding to the lavish display of fresh blooms that covered an immaculate photo booth for the lovely couple and their guests.

The dinner area was set around a massive infinity pool. The tabletop was carefully curated to make a bold impression. The couple opted for prime crystal sous plats, colorful haute hippie glasses, crisp linen, and classy floral compositions. Hundreds of cascading garlands, decadent naked bulbs, and strung lights created a romantic ambiance and a free-spirited mood. Aria Fine Catering created a very Greek family style menu with famous greek meze, like tzatziki, traditional pie, grilled octopus, cretan salad, zucchini balls, and fresh grilled grouper filled with lemon sauce, olive oil, and wine. A beautiful Tuscan table was placed near the dance floor filled with mouthwatering provincial bites, such as homemade foccacias and herb breads, delicate varieties of olives, cold cuts, cheeses, grapes, and plums surrounded by candles and antique mirrors.

The entertainment for this wedding event was carefully chosen to facilitate a night full of dancing and partying! Speakeasies is a very popular 8 members swing band from Thessaloniki who performed for more than two hours playing famous Greek and international jazz, swing, manoush, and blues. The big surprise of the night was the absolute grace of the synchronized swimming dancers! The famous dance group who joined us that night is named “Naides” – a name for Greek Naiad Nymphs of the water element. The couple’s first dance and cutting of the cake was highlighted by a memorable, three-minute fireworks show which was choreographed to music chosen by the couple! The aerial decoration with the ferry lights and the luxurious crystal chandeliers in the surrounding area completed the luxury bohemian atmosphere creating an immaculate, fairy tale scene.

You Must See This Wedding’s Showstopping Ceremony Flowers

We can all appreciate a good ceremony arch, and this one wrapped in olive branches and accented with white, fluffy hydrangeas is a total showstopper. Phosart Photography Cinematography captured the stunning arch along with the rest of the impressive blooms created by Chlorofilli for this wedding in the gardens of a Greek castle, and we’re digging the simple combination of natural greenery and white blossoms.

Whimsical

From Phosart Photography CinematographyThis is a wonderful May wedding that came out of the pages of a fantasy book. Samia, who we had the opportunity to meet months before her wedding when searching for the perfect location, and her love, Khalil, had their natural, garden wedding at Petreza Castle. Living in Dubai, they felt that Greece was the perfect destination, and they were right!

Greece is an amazing place to celebrate love, like the love of Samia and Khalil that has been blossoming for 11 years, believe it or not. They met in university and have been together ever since. Khalil was on the football team, and Samia was on the dance team. They met at a bar on campus and kept seeing each other at sports games and events. The result you can see through this lovely photographic collection.

Their wedding style was natural in white and greenery, our favorite combination this season, which highlighted the beauty of the venue. We loved every detail of this event, from the mint ties of the Groom and his party, to the white balloons that were released to the sky, to the lovely decoration by Chlorofilli flowers, to, of course, Samia in her Monique Lhuiller wedding dress!

Santorini Elopement Planned in 3 Months!

As travel-lovers always up for an adventure, Jenn and Matt knew a destination elopement would be right up their alley. They decided to tie the knot in their favorite place on earth (Santorini, Greece) and planned the entire affair in three months flat. Of course, they brought in local professionals like Tie the Knot Santorini and Betty Flowers Santorini to make it all happen and we’ve got the captures from Sandy & Odysseas Photography.

From the bride… Our wedding was perfect for our taste! Most important for us was being able to share it together, just the two of us. We decided to elope in Santorini 3 months before the big day and could not be happier with our decision! It felt so intimate and we have some incredible memories of the day. A big driver was being able to get married stress-free…we had both seen a lot of weddings turn into a spectacle or be focused on other elements besides the love of the couple getting married. That was something we really didn’t want so eloping seemed like a great choice! I love white and gold – I wear both almost every day and our house decor is very neutral- so naturally, I wanted our wedding to reflect a similar color-scheme. We stuck to mostly white, gold and green with some light rose accents. White roses with greenery and succulents served as the perfect accent to the gorgeous scenery behind us. I wanted a big bouquet that was reminiscent of one made while walking through a field of flowers! Our florist did a great job capturing my vision.

We hung gold, geometric lanterns from the posts on our balcony to frame the beautiful backdrop of the Santorini caldera. We love simple elegance so it was important for us to keep our palate neutral while letting the setting we were in speak for itself.

Our favorite part of wedding planning was picking the music. We customized every piece to our tastes, from walking down the aisle to an acoustic version of The Beatles’ “Blackbird” to our first kiss being accented with ZZ Top’s “Gimme all your Lovin.” It really made it feel like our day!

I couldn’t wait to see Matt after I got ready. Since we planned every aspect of the wedding together and hadn’t really told many people, I was excited to have one big secret from him and that was my dress! I knew how badly he was dying to see me in it and he had no idea what it looked like so it was a great moment to be able to finally show him!

Matt and I met at work. We were paired up on most of our accounts together and were an awesome team from the start. After being great friends our relationship evolved and we have been together ever since! There actually was no proposal to start! We talked about eloping since we first started dating and randomly decided to make it a reality. Matt did officially propose two days before we left for our elopement in Santorini at a beautiful dock where we often sit at night to watch the stars. I wasn’t expecting it at all!

From Sandy and Odysseas Photography… Jenn and Matt met at work when they were both working for a tech start-up in Boston, MA. They became great friends and after a year or so of working together decided to start dating. After a year or so of dating, they both decided to quit their jobs and do a bit of travel. They visited a ton of places, but they absolutely fell in love with Santorini. They had always joked about eloping since they first started dating, but decided to make it a reality and elope in their favorite place, Oia in Santorini!

As wedding photographers, we have a tremendous fondness of Santorini. Its fusion of minimalism and folk architecture became the perfect canvas for us to showcase the couple’s elegance and all the nuances of their tenderness and newlywed bliss.

Being already familiar with their wedding destination, Jenn and Matt knew all about its immaculate vistas, so they picked one of the most beautiful locations near the village of Imerovigli, a late 1800’s winery that has been refurbished into a crisp boutique establishment, overlooking the conical peninsula jutting out into the caldera.
Tie the Knot created a classical-meets-whimsy intimate corner for the stunning couple’s delightful dinner. A milky white screen complemented by laurel and eucalyptus embellished, craftsman glass hanging lanterns, a gold sequin runner, sleek gold-toned flatware and clear contemporary candle holders matched the pillowy blue horizon perfectly.

Jenn held a simple, natural and classic looking, all-greenery bridal bouquet accented with honeysuckle twining bine, stephanotis, eucalypti, olive branches, white peonies, ivory viburnum and echeveria, a synthesis that was also employed as a centerpiece and translated the couple’s sophisticated style. The snowy-white cake made of vanilla bean, lemon and coconut cream was decorated with eucalyptus, peonies and akita roses.

We loved shooting Jenn and Matt’s First Look for the sparkling-eyes, the gentle gestures and the excitement of these initial moments. As the warm breeze swayed us away into the 360-degree sweeping sunset of the volcanic island, the waltzing steps of these two romantics still echoed on the flagstone path as rose petals softly started to dance along.

What’s Better Than a Culinary-Themed Wedding in Greece? Not Much.

Where do we even begin? From the couple’s whimsical meeting – details in their own words below! – to their rustic, culinary-themed wedding planned by ROCK PAPER SCISSORS EVENTS at the Kinsterna Hotel in Greece, every bit of this love story is an absolute dream. From the sesame candy in the welcome gifts to the ceremony refreshments to the cheese and olive oil bar at the reception, guests were indulged with a fresh and local culinary experience. Anna Roussos and Miryana Slivenska captured it all, and each moment is somehow more delicious than the last.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/224320912 600 338]

From ROCK PAPER SCISSORS EVENTS“She was scouring the sea looking for her lost pet turtle. Although he was busy perfecting his béarnaise sauce, he agreed to help her find what she was looking for. That day, they dove together, roamed the water depths together, and when they surfaced again, two adventurous souls had their paths forever changed.”

This is how our couple met, and we believe it’s true. And so, the adventure began for us. We were on a quest to find the best venue to host the wedding’s guests and at the same time reflect the couple’s taste. Hidden within the unexplored beauties of the Laconia region in the Peloponnese, the Kinsterna hotel is a unique place where you not only get pampered by the exceptional services of this renovated medieval castle, but you also indulge yourself with an amazing culinary experience that only uses local and fresh produce. The Groom’s love for Greece and its food and wine and the Bride’s longing for its sun and beach made this decision rather easy; we knew immediately this is going to be an extraordinary wedding.

For the welcome gifts, we chose pasteli bars – a local sesame candy – that were distributed with the wedding programs as the guests were greeted to their rooms. As it was a day wedding, we made sure that during the ceremony, guests were served fresh lemonade and herbal infused water to cool off. The wedding lunch was prepared by the chef using local produce that was grown on the hotel grounds and the house wine came from a vineyard just minutes away. Guests were amazed by the cheese and olive oil bar and got to keep a small bottle of olive oil as a wedding favor.

The overall style of the decoration was in line with the simple, intimate yet elegant and unique wedding Melissa and Haissam wanted. We went for a rustic, earthy style, with the olive tree at the heart of the overall theme, and that reflected the beauty of the location they were getting married at. It took us a full year to plan this wedding; we exchanged more than 400 emails, had long video calls on Skype, and even used WhatsApp, Pinterest, and Instagram. Yes, we became friends after all of that, and we can’t wait for a trip back to Greece to see them again – hopefully with a new member!

San Francisco Couple Elopes on Santorini Beach

We’ve featured plenty a Santorini soiree boasting views of the gorgeous underwater caldera, but did you know this Greek island also home to stunning beaches as well? The kind of beaches that are perfect for eloping, which is exactly what this San Francisco couple did with the help of Tie the Knot Santorini. Under a floral-adorned teepee from Betty Flowers Santorini they said I do with their toes in the black volcanic sand, and we get to witness their intimate day thanks to Elias Kordelakos.

From Elias KordelakosSantorini is well known of the sun bathed white houses and the cliffs of the caldera, but this super cute and in love couple from San Francisco had a different approach on their elopement. They decided to head to the beach on this cloudy day! Weather is always an un-predictable factor on your wedding day, so don’t give it more credit than deserves! To be absolutely honest, cloudy skies were Rhianna’s favourite for her light coloured eyes!

This Wedding Location Boasts the BEST Views.

From Santorini Glam WeddingsJust like the guests of this wedding, we too would’ve traveled across the globe to attend this wedding at Rocabella Santorini. Because when you’ve got a couple so sweet, kind, and cool like Victoria and Tim are, we’d say thats more than worth it. We started the planning process a year prior to the wedding, and I have to admit that when our journey reached this spectacular day, all I wanted was for this day to last as long as possible. Groom’s sister wanted to make as a surprise to the couple fireworks during their first dance but unfortunately the venue doesn’t allow them. The highlight of the wedding was those last few seconds of their first dance, when suddenly fireworks emerged from the hotel next door. And just like that, we had fireworks. Magic!

You’ll Have a Blue Crush on This Santorini Bridal Inspiration

We have a blue crush on this bridal session, with its blue, gold, and white color palette inspired by the natural landscape and architecture of Santorini. Dreamed up by Jacqueline Hallgarth with the help of amazing vendors including Trynh Photography, Seniman Calligraphy, and Betty Flowers Santorini, it blends modern elements, like mid-century chairs and the clean lines of La Maltese Estate, with old-world touches including elegant glassware and romantic calligraphy on hand-dyed paper. Want more? Head to the gallery for all the unbelievably gorgeous images.

From Jacqueline HallgarthHaving a post card, picturesque wedding location is quintessential for every couple planning their nuptials. On top of the highest point on the island of Santorini, La Maltese Estate rises majestically above the village of Thira. We were so inspired by the sweeping views of the crisp, white architecture and blue dome churches. This is the ideal destination for a romantic setting and couples to say “I do.”

When partnering with Trynh Krajanowski of Trynh Photography, we wanted to showcase the rich history of the island while catering to the modern couple who dreams to wed here. The romantic wedding gown by Marianna Kastrinos (a Greek wedding dress designer) was the perfect attire for an island chic wedding. The top was form fitting with lace cap sleeves, and the bottom was flowing with layers of chiffon.

La Maltese Estate has a modern setting with their clean lines and newly renovated event space, but I wanted to highlight the island’s historic charm by blending in clay-like potted dishes and crystal clear glassware from White Lilac Rentals. Anything Ruth from Seniman Calligraphy touches turns to pure perfection, so we naturally wanted to feature her work. The timeless calligraphy on hand-dyed, cotton paper and silk runner from Tono + Co softened up the tablescape. Creative Candles matched the deep color of the Santorini blues. The gold edged cake by Alexandra Cakes was topped with a Grecian crown perfect for this affair. Vintage Rentals from Weddings & Whimsy accented the event design with their bar cart and adorable cake stand. As soon as the sun began to set, this was the ideal golden hour for beautiful photos. We finished off the evening with gorgeous sunset portraits with our Bride.

Travel to Greece for a Breathtaking Wedding by the Sea

Greece is one of the most magical spots that blends weathered white architecture with the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea and this inspiration is a direct reflection of its surroundings. Designed by Mazi Event, this intimate elopement pulls from the colors of the ocean, and folds in elegant details for a look both easy and glamorous. Captured by Anna Roussos, get inspired by the true beauty of the Grecian landscape and this intimate wedding by the sea.

From the planner… Starting to draw the canvas for an inspirational photo shoot in such a regal destination, Spetses, was a creative spring time journey. This intimate elopement had an aery style, a mix of vintage and contemporary elements, with a feel of earthy opulence. Inspired by the natural aura of Spetses we created a color palette composed of grey, clean white and dusty green hues. Our conceptual mood board, was based on one of the Circles of Life: That of marriage. Beginning and completion, wholeness, diversity, fertility, regeneration, strength and balance are essential for a couple to endure the test of time, to flourish and relish the greatest gift given to them: their love. All preparations were made in the historic Poseidonion Grand Hotel with the highest standards. Inspired by the power of the circle we created the invites, envelopes, a map, menus, flower arrangements, even treats for the guests and the wedding cake, to accentuate the strength of this perfect form of nature with no start, no end and no imperfections. The Seed of Life mandala pattern -the universal symbol of creation- applied in selected details with respects to the concept, made everything come together. A traditional horse carriage drove the couple to the beach where everything was ready for an ethereal wedding. The couple barefoot, equal and united, whispered their meaningful vows under the tones of the violin. The beachfront family table was already set up for an intimate dinner. All the decorative details radiated a royal beauty with al fresco flower arrangements composed with greeneries and white flowers, calligraphy menus with sealing wax on water colored handmade papers, marble sous-plats, tasteful silver cutlery and glassware. Silk wedding favors with silver calligraphy engraved details were personalized for each guest. We were so content to work with such a talented team of professionals for this, our debut project, and see our vision come to life. Anna Roussos captured every detail with the most creative eye. Enjoy!

An Elegant Santorini Wedding With Magnificent Views

With a cliff top location boasting magnificent views, the infamous white walls of Cycladic architecture, and a bright blue sky that faded into a pretty sunset, this wedding day in Santorini could not have been more idyllic. Betty Flowers Santorini added that extra special touch, and Phosart Photography Cinematography captured the beauty of the day. I know these photos will leave you wanting more – see the rest of the celebration in the Vault.

From Phosart Photography CinematographyWe always say that every wedding is different, like every couple is. Even more so when the couple is so much in love and has spent time on crafted and DIY details to add so many personal touches. That’s heaven for the photographer!

Our dear Stacy and Gustavo had their destination wedding at Venetsanos Winery, famous for the magnificent view as you will easily find out through their wedding photos. Their preparations started at Volcano View Hotel. The name speaks for itself!

So many emotions were captured. So many authentic smiles! The light shades of colors of the decoration and florals by Betty Flowers highlighted the scenery, all perfectly arranged by Divine Weddings. The sky with the clouds and the Santorini sunset did us a favor that day and showed all their glory and beauty! The wedding reception took place at Pyrgos Restaurant, an elegant and cozy venue with the sweetest candy bar.

We wish this couple all the best from the bottom of our hearts.

An Ever-After State of Mind Portrait Session

These two. Ten years and one daughter later, and their love is deeper and perhaps more beautiful than ever. Anna Roussos Photography captured their love as it carries on, and every single image makes me tingle. Their looks, cuddles, and smiles say it all, so get lost in this Athens Riviera portrait session.

From Anna Roussos PhotographyHow-we-crossed-paths stories are always so beautiful to hear, but I am admittedly spellbound to capture love not only as it happens, but as it carries on. Raising their 9-year-old daughter Liya and being off-the-football field teammates for 10 years, Opheny and Anthony are the soft and magical forever after!

In its botanical palette and gorgeous milky light, this Athens Riviera airy portrait session is all about their intimate language and history. The inspiration is evident: their steady caress, beautified by affection and the patina of time.

This Inspiration Session will Renew Your Dreams of Becoming a Greek Goddess

Book me a ticket to Santorini, because the styled shoot held at the 2016 Boheme Workshop has convinced me of its incomparable beauty. The team at Stella + Moscha drew their inspiration from the history, art, and architecture of the location, focusing on draping fabrics and creating a color palette complementary to the striking setting. Suzanne Li expertly photographed the beautiful session, so please excuse me while I spend my entire weekend in this gallery.

From Stella + MoschaWe are more than proud to present these amazing images from the 2016 Boheme Workshop that took place in Santorini – a fine art photography experience led by the award winning wedding photographer, Vasia Han, and supported by a fantastic team of young professionals that creates wonderful opportunities for fellow photographers with inspired styled shoots, classroom exercises, and Q+As by internationally renowned guest speakers.

The inspiration for this ethereal photoshoot came straight out of history: The Hellenistic Period took over the Greek art landscape between 232-150 BC. Characterized by motion and transparency in fabrics, movement, and draping effects, this luxurious and sophisticated era was evident in the architecture, paintings, and sculptures – a prime example of this being the amazing Winged Victory of Samothrace. We fell in love with the truly unique gown by Christos Costarellos, which gracefully blend his boheme style with the Grecian art, the creamy peach, blush, and ivory colors, as well as the earthy decor and stationery details, flawlessly photographed by Suzanne Li and translated beautifully the period’s features.

From Boheme Creative Director, Tahnee Sanders… Taking in the Santorini landscape, I could see these ideas everywhere; the repetition of endless white stairs, the clean lines of the Oia architecture, the patterns projected onto the washed white walls through shadow as the sun moved around the island.

Organic, Luxe Wedding Inspiration Set in Greece

My husband and I recently decided our next big trip will be to Greece, and this inspiration shoot designed in the hands of Think Happy Events encompasses all the reasons why. Think stunning landscapes, fresh and decadent foods, plus photography by Les Anagnou that will completely blow you away. Join me in the gallery and get lost in all the pretty for yourself.

This most romantic and artistic styled shoot took place in the historical old mansion of the Kinsterna Hotel. This amazing old structure, built during the 17th century close to the picturesque Castle of Monemvasia and renovated completely with respect to its architectural history, is the inspiration point for this beautiful result. Every detail was well cared for, with natural textures, traditional patterns, and Greek elements.

Based on Greek products and the Greek word of hospitality “filoxenia”, we created a welcome gift for the guests with extra virgin olive oil, traditional drink tsipouro, organic honey and a bergamot scented candle. The scenery of the olive groves combined with our almond blossom arch, gave a magical touch to the ceremony, while sun rays passed through the branches and created an exquisite atmosphere. The couple walked through the wine yards and the citrus groves, along with their white horses and had the chance to feel the peace of Mother Nature.

White hyacinths, pink almond blossoms, deep green olive branches & eucalyptus were the starting point for our wedding color palette. At the ancient cistern with the goldfish and the lilies, a luxurious dinner table with unique flatware and lace plates, decorated with lots of flowers and vintage gold candleholders has been set up for the guests. Clear glass boxes with gold details, again olive branches and traditional Greek wedding sweets “koufeta” were the wedding gifts.

The old Venetian wall of the central building of the hotel was the perfect backdrop for the dessert table and the blush pink tulle running all over the vintage furniture created an artistic effect. All the desserts were designed on the concept with organic nuts and fresh berries, under favorite Greek flavors. A dream wedding, in a dream place, with a dream team!

A Jaw-Dropping Destination Wedding in Greece

Where do we even start with this epic destination wedding by The Twelve Events? For five days, the glamorous couple and their guests enjoyed an exclusive stay at Nikki Beach Resort in Porto Heli, Greece. On the wedding day, the bride – a jewelry designer – wore a runway-worthy, bespoke gown and jewelry amongst an art instillation of magnificent, self-lit flowers, and guests were seated at a custom, 50 meter table to enjoy the views of the sea. Adam Alex Photography captured all this and more, in the gallery. Excuse us while we pick our jaws up from the floor.

From Adam Alex PhotographyAfter two full days of partying and events – including a Bohemian Beach Party – it was time for the big day. The time arrived for the power couple Joanna, a successful, high-end jewelry designer, and Karim, a businessman involved in the fashion industry in Lebanon, to become one.

The ceremony took place at a small, picturesque chapel, Ververonda, overlooking the sea. The couple used a traditional carriage from the nearby island of Spetses for their transportation to the chapel. The entire exterior of the chapel, approximately 800 square meters, was covered in real grass. The use of the grass and the numerous white scented flower compositions highlighted the Greek elements of the white chapel.

The whole setting for the wedding was one of sophisticated elegance. Inspired by the Burning Man Festival, which the newlyweds have attended in the past, a cluster of custom-made, meter-high, self-lit flower lights were made. These manmade flowers created the perfect backdrop for the evening.

Nikki Beach Resort in Porto Heli was privatized specifically for this event – five days of exclusivity at this dreamlike resort! The Twelve Events team arrived early on the wedding day to create one of the longest tables ever made for an event – a 50 meter table, which could sit up to 150 people, stretched along the seafront of the resort. The table was adorned in beautiful, white hanging flowers and tea lights. Sparkling candles, which were placed along the beach and throughout the venue, peacefully lit up the event.

The guests sat along this carefully crafted table. Directly opposite all of the guests, within the calmness of the Porto Heli Gulf, lies a shipwreck. This unique element could not go unnoticed to all of the guests attending.

The party came to life with a large firework display that took place while the couple cut into their cake, a replica of the famous LOVE sculpture by Robert Indiana. This magical atmosphere was accompanied by one of the newlywed’s favorite songs, “A Sky Full of Stars” by Coldplay.

From the Bride… Many consider their wedding day to be a new beginning; the start of a new story. We saw our day as an opportunity to share more about our past – share our traditions, our backgrounds, our values. This was reflected in our invitations, which had personalized postage stamps of our parents and grandparents on their wedding day, our ceremonial Stefania (Greek crowns) that were passed down from my parents, and the drinking cup from my husband’s family. Our goal was to walk into the new cherishing the old, because, after all it made us who we are. The Greek island of Corfu was the ideal location for us to do so– an emerald island on the Ionian, reminiscent of Venetian culture, giving an ode to my husband’s Italian background and allowing me to realize my dream of going back to the country I grew up in, to get married. Mediterranean cultures value family above everything else, something which was evident throughout the entire process. We shared with our families each step of the wedding process, irregardless the task. Whether the job involved making wax seals for each invitation or assembling gift bags and gluing a lavender flower to each name, we could always count on them. They were with us when we got ready, present when we became one, and walked down the streets of Corfu Town with us to commemorate our wedding.

Since we had a significant amount of people visiting from the United States and Europe it was important to us to share with them the beauty and charm of Corfu. We thought that the best way of doing so, was by giving them an opportunity to experience Corfu in the same way the locals did, a three day celebration. We started Friday with drinks at a café in Corfu town, which was followed by a ‘welcome dinner’ consisting of dancing, eating and drinking at a local taverna. On Sunday everyone came together again for brunch which was followed by a boat party. There was no better way to end our wedding than by sailing off into the beautiful Greek waters.

From Les Anagnou photographersThis wedding, that took place in the isle of Corfu, Greece, was a dynamic, full-blown romantic story in sweat pea colors and rich, nostalgic details, that recreates the long-established dazzle of 1930’s Italian aesthetics. The reductive portraits echo of fashion illustrator Carl Erickson, as upbeat and contemporary as he would be.

A Summer Island Wedding Set in Mykonos

Mykonos might be the prettiest Greek island I’ve ever laid eyes on, but it’s also known as the island of the wind. That windswept beauty could not have more perfect for this outdoor wedding and photographer extraordinaire, Elias Kordelakos, captured every bit of magic behind his lens.

From the photographer… Mykonos is one of the most renowned Greek islands! It’s also known as the island of the winds. The light and color of this Greek island though, makes it the perfect destination for a wedding day. And what a wedding this one was. Italian finesse meets Greek-cypriot temperament.

During the bride’s getting ready, I witnessed a cypriot custom called “Zosmata”. They put a red ribbon around the bride for 3 times to wish her prosperity and fertility. A very strong and emotional moment for the guests and the bride! The wedding ceremony was held at the church inside the hotel which was very picturesque.

A few words from the bride, Christine… The emotions were high. Waking up in a cave suite that was overlooking the volcanic Aegean Sea made my heart stop. It was the day that I would take his last name. The day we planned for so many months. The day we dreamed of for so many years.

From the moment we decided to get married in Santorini, Greece we knew we wanted something small and personal. Something that had a mixture of both of our unique tastes. My love for rustic and golds and Ryan’s love for art and color. The tables drenched in navy gauze, gold table wear, and of course an abundance of waterfall-like peonies flowing off the tables and down the aisle.

The planning, preparations, and all the stories from friends and family on what your wedding day will be like could never have prepared me for what I felt on that day. Dressed in my stunning Inbal Dror gown, holding my peony-filled bouquet tightly and my dads arm even tighter.

The second that I caught my soon-to-be husband’s eyes I fell in love all over again. Like the first time you know you love that person so much you will never be able to live without them. That’s what I felt. That exact feeling. 10 years later, I fell in love with him all over again. It was a rush that I will never forget. Standing next to each other and looking over to see our 3 beautiful children sitting with such big smiles and tears in their eyes was a moment that will be forever imbedded in our minds. Our first born got to carry the rings down the aisle, our daughter was our flower girl and wore a garland crown fit for a Greek goddess, and our youngest carried a sign that read “Daddy here comes mommy” on it which was a heart-stirring moment.

We wrote our own vows and read them in these perfect navy vow books that we will have for the rest of our lives. Our guest list of 30 enjoyed a champaign toast after the ceremony. cocktail hour followed while we stood on the picturesque white Santorini roof tops. We got to stare into each other’s eyes and whisper sweet things to each other all while looking out into the exquisite Santorini sunset.

Our wedding was a perfect representation of us and it was reflected in the details throughout the day. If our wedding day was any indication of what our lives will be like then we are on the most beautiful, loving, spectacular journey!

A Breathtaking Cliff Ceremony Overlooking the Aegean Sea

The views of this destination wedding are beyond. Overlooking the blue water of the Aegean Sea, this french couple traveled to the cliffs of Crete for a celebration unlike any other. Think Happy Events crafted the day infused with pomegranates, long floral garlands at each table by Yucca Flowers and a party fueled by french champagne and love.  See the whole affair captured by Les Anagnou and a filmed by WedColors below.

Jehane and Jacques, a beautiful French couple, travelled all the way to Crete from London with their beloved families and guests to experience the wedding of their dreams. The wedding ceremony took place in the middle of nowhere in an extraordinary landscape on the edge of a cliff with a breathtaking view the endless blue of the Aegean Sea. An open wooden door, symbolizing the opening to their new beginning, was decorated with olive branches and marsala flowers. The bride arrived with a local traditional music band and her bridesmaids, all dressed up in dusted pink colors. The sound of silence, for the ceremony, in comparison with sound of the waves crushing the cliff, was irresistible. By the end of this beautiful ceremony, a cocktail party followed at a private villa and the guests had the chance to have a panoramic view of Crete under the well-known Greek sunset. Pomegranate: a symbol of life, rebirth and fertility was the inspiration for the wedding decoration. Beautiful flower garlands decorated all tables while large red pomegranates were used as escort cards. Wedding favor bags with local products like virgin olive oil and organic honey were placed on each guest’s seat. The highlight of this amazing party couldn’t be anything else than French champagne & endless dancing up until the morning light!
