Elegant Autumn Wedding Inspiration

With each glowing autumn day, I fall deeper and deeper in love with the rich colors of this special time of year; the golds, the fading greens and those amazing radiant reds. So when this styled shoot by Melanie Nedelko came across my desk, you could say I was a tad bit extra excited. Filled the brim with those captivating colors and satisfying every single one of my seasonal wedding daydreams, image after image is frame worthy. Jump into the pretty pile in our VAULT to see every single one right here!

From Melanie Nedelko… This styled shoot was a collaboration with some really talented folks from Austria. I’m so proud that I had the chance to work with them and realize my vision of an autumn inspired wedding shoot.

Viki from Lovely Weddings and Timo Bolte, a very talented florist, created a wonderful table setting with different beautiful red tones, mixed with golden and pastel elements. A plain wooden table peppered with costly arranged golden accents forms an exciting contrast to the unemotional location where it becomes a fascinating eye-catcher.

The scenery took place in a rough gravel pit near Vienna, this unique location reflected the golden autumn light perfectly and our beautiful model in her Elfenkleid gown seemed to get one with the background. Our models – they are also a couple in real life – were so cute and did a really great job! It was my second styled shoot ever, and the first that I captured mostly on film. I love the skin tones and the special colors you can only get from film. I hope we can inspire brides with our version of a perfect autumn wedding.

Elegant Summer Engagement Session in Salzburg

As fans of the classic film, “The Sound of Music,” it only made sense that this darling duo make a pitstop on Salzburg to celebrate their engagement. With the help of photographer Siegrid Cain, they spent a perfect July day exploring the Austrian city’s historic streets, sunshine and summer bouquet in tow. Take a peek at even more pretty in the gallery here!

From Siegrid CainDali & Darren travelled to Europe to celebrate their recent engagement. And because they are both big fans of “The Sound of Music” they also spent 2 days in Salzburg and decided to book me for an engagement shoot there. We planned the shoot for quite some time so Dali had a stylist booked and also a little summer bouquet. What we couldn’t plan was the weather of course. But we were blessed with a very hot, sunny July day and took adavantage of the gorgeous light and summer feeling.

The shoot turned into a little guided tour of the beautiful old town of Salzburg. We started in the oldest street called Steingasse, walked over the infamous Markatsteg to get a shot with the skyline of the old town and castle.

From there we took the lift up to the Mönchsberg – Museum der Moderne – and walked above the city for some nature shots and fresh air. Both of them changed their outfits and off we went through the little old streets. From Getreidegasse to Domplatz, where we met a friendly Wolfhound who kindly posed with the couple. Stopping here and there to capture their sweet love and memories of the trip of a lifetime.

Family-Oriented Alps Wedding

After I read that this tucked away Alps soiree took place on the Bride’s family’s 400 (yes, you read right) year old farm—I was instantly intrigued. And after perusing through the lovely images from WeddingCity Photography, I was pulled in even further with the sweet DIY details, that gorgeous barn and the all-around family-infused feel. It’s a gallery you’ll want to cozy up to darling, promise.

From the beautiful Bride… I would love to share with you my wedding which took place on the 10th of August 2013. We celebrated in the beautiful mountain scenery of the Alps in a four hundred year old farm that my family owns. The only thing you can see from there is the “Wild Kaiser” a very famous Austrian mountain, hills and trees. The light at that time of the year is beautiful. We did many things ourselves like decorating the tables with stones from a close by river and lavender from my aunt’s garden. I sewed the garland you see on many of the pics myself. One thing I‘m very proud of are our beautiful invitation cards.

Lakeside Wedding at Castle Maria Loretto

At first glance, this looks like your perfect summer wedding. Pastel colors, gorgeous blooms, al fresco reception – the works. But take a closer peek and you’ll realize this Austrian lovefest more. SO much more. Set at a lakeside castle (that’s right – a castle) complete with stunning scenery and charm galore, the gallery from Thomas Steibl and film by Vision On Fire are two things you mustn’t miss.

From Thomas Steibl… The Bride planned everything on her own with absolute perfection. All the small details amazingly arranged. And take a look at her Inbal Dror dress. Isn’t it quit stunning? One of the most beautiful moments was when the groom fetched the bride and bridesmaids with the boat. So much love, laughter and happiness on that day.

The reception venue, an old – but beautifully redecorated castle – stands out because it’s architecture and location next to Lake Wörthersee where the guests went swimming while we took some portraits of the bride & groom!

Vienna Engagement Session

I love engagement sessions, that’s not a huge secret. But engagement sessions captured by Ksenia Milushkina in Vienna? Well, that makes my love affair with engagement sessions magnify ten fold. This gallery is pure prettiness, and it’s all waiting for you right here.

From Ksenia MilushkinaI was lucky enough to meet an amazing couple in Vienna. The atmosphere of ease never left us all the time – it’s a nice feeling when it seems like you know these guys for a long time. It was great but it was not the end, there were a few evenings exploring the night city and fun get-together.

Austrian Wedding at Castle Niederweiden

I’ve dreamed of traveling to Austria since I was a little girl, and this stunning soiree at Castle Niederweiden captured beautifully by Thomas Steibl makes me realize I need to make that dream a reality as soon as possible. From Thomas Steibl….When we first met the couple we knew that its going to be a perfect wedding. And it really was an extraordinary day. The getting ready was so full of love and excitement… All the little details were just perfect. They have chosen to marry each other in the garden of the Castle Niederweiden. Thats such a great location, really beautiful. The grooms family travelled all the way to Austria from Germany and part of the bride’s family came all the way down from Russia. The scenery for this very special day was just perfect.

Linz, Austria Wedding at Castle Steyregg

Austria currently sits at the tippy top of my travel list, and it only takes one look at this beauty by Nate Henderson to see why. The beautiful country set the scene for this couple’s love story, making it the perfect place to start their next chapter. And with the Castle Steyregg providing a stunning setting and gorgeous details abound, it’s safe to say they started that next chapter in style. See it all here.

From Nate HendersonBarbara and John met in May of 2009 when he did a study abroad in Linz, Austria and Prague, Czech Republic for his graduate studies. Their first encounter was on Linz city square in the cafe in front of the Hotel Wolfinger. The rest is history as they continued to date, then Barbara moved to the US. But they had decided from the beginning to go back to Austria for the wedding!

Barbara prepared for the wedding day at the Hotel am Domplatz, just a stone’s throw from the famous Cathedral of the Virgin Mary in Linz. She and John met for a first look in front of the cathedral, before they headed for the ceremony at Pöstlingberg Church, a gorgeous setting on a hill just outside the city. After the ceremony, the guests were treated to a cocktail hour and reception at the large banquet hall inside of Steyregg Castle (which dates back to medieval times).

Austria Wedding from Iconoclash Photography

You know what’s refreshing? This wedding day recap from the world’s sweetest groom. Written in his very own words, he spells out the story behind this whimsical Austrian lovefest almost as beautifully as Iconoclash Photography captured. Dive head first into the gallery of pretty right over here.

From the Groom… After having been together for quite some time, I proposed to Cordula during a holiday at the Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro. Grooms, if youre looking for a nice spot to pop the question I can really recommend this place, it was fantastic! We both knew we didn’t want to have a religious ceremony, but we still wanted to have a solemn and festive ceremony with all our friends and family, so we opted for a civil marriage outdoors on the grounds of our location, Palais Laudon. Both during the planning and on the day we were really happy to have the support of our wedding planner Maryam from yam yam Event Productions. She helped us right from the beginning, from the location search to the programme design, and we developed an overall theme and colour scheme together, loosely based on a tropical theme, as we both love to travel and I had proposed in Brazil.

While Maryam took care of all the details we concentrated on the things we enjoyed most, like trying different cakes, picking our clothes, etc. I think this helped us a lot in being relaxed and at ease during the actual wedding day.

Apart from the actual ceremony and exchange of the rings, which was of course a very special moment, one of Cordulas fondest memories was getting ready in the Hotel with her girls. They put on some favourite music and really had fun prettying up, getting professional make-up and hair, and posing for photos.

Another favourite moment was the couple shoot we did with our photographers Teresa and Daniel. Even though they were there photographing us, they managed somehow to make us really feel at ease… We ended up feeling like there was just us, and we got to really enjoy these moments together.

For us, our wedding day was truly a perfect day. It was amazing to feel that everything was just falling into place, and we really got to enjoy and fully live every moment of the day. I wish every couple that they can do just that – live each moment of the day fully and enjoy it!

Austria Wedding from Carmen and Ingo

Weddings on SMP are like children to me. I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite. But if I had to, this Austria affair from Carmen and Ingo would most definitely be in the running. It has an air of elegance, an old world style that simply can’t be matched – as if each moment was plucked from the loveliest of fairytales. That and it’s gorgeous. Breathtakingly so. A wedding that requires you to sit down for a minute and really appreciate all the beauty, which you can do right here in the full gallery of images.

From Carmen and IngoWOW! Seriously! This has been an incredible day for us. Not only the fantastic venue or the perfect weather between all this rain. But most of all because Anastasia and Marc are such humbled and super nice people. We connected very well already during our meeting last year in Vienna, but during their wedding day the four of us got good friends! Anastasia is such a beautiful bride and Carmen’s eyes were glowing when she left the getting ready in Schloss Dürnstein. She was even hugging Anastasia now and then during the day, just because she was such a lovely bride.

Marc is a real gentleman not only to his wonderful wife but to everyone he is talking to. It was a super pleasure to be around him and listen to what he has to say. Speaking five (or even more) languages makes him also standout in conversations with the international guests. Making jokes is one of his favorite things but doing that in Russian language with his father in law qualifies him for a good husband. Getting ready and the reception was held in Schloss Dürnstein. Never been there before but totally felt in love with the venue and the surrounding. Those rooms are just gorgeous. The civil ceremony was held in the library of the Castle Dürnstein only with the closest friends and family. Before the church of Stift Dürnstein was place for the religious wedding ceremony the bride and groom changed from super beautiful dress and suite to absolutely stunning clothing. What a wonderful dress right?

The ceremony hold some specialties for all the guests, since there were so many different languages everything was translated from German into English language and also most parts into Russian. Anastasia and Marc gave us plenty of time to do the portrait shoot and we had so much fun with them capturing their unconditional love for each other. The reception in Schloss Dürnstein (Rosensaal) started with singing and saxophone from Jengis. What a nice guy! We had the pleasure to talk with him and also with his buddy who was responsible for the DJ work after him. Mr. Steve Nick. If you are looking for some really fun people to entertain your guests, these guys blow our minds with their performance. All hats off guy, your rock!

Marc is from Syria originally and parts of his family are suffering under the political conflict right now and where not able to escape the country over the last years. Even A&M were spending their wonderful day they did not forget to thing about everyone effected by the sad situation. Marc found really great words in his speak and shows one more time his well-considered thinking! It’s been such a wonderful day for us and here is to thank you both so much for putting trust into our work and us. We are very looking forward meeting you someday soon again and it’s a true pleasure seeing your LOVE sparkling between you. Have a fantastic future!

Viennese Garden Wedding from peaches & mint

I’m not sure I have words to adequately introduce this crazy-gorgeous, and totally handmade, Vienna, Austria wedding. Keeping to a tight budget, the-absolutely beautiful-bride kept the guest list small and started crafting to add sweet details to both ceremony + reception spaces.  If you’re anything like me, you’ll be spending the rest of your morning swooning over every dreamy image from peaches & mint in the full gallery!

From peaches & mint… Ewelina and Christian took only four months to prepare this beautiful, vintage-inspired wedding near Vienna, Austria. They had a small budget to work with, so they kept the guest list to family and close friends and put a lot of their own time in organizing, preparing and creating decorations. Ewelina could really show off her talent for decorating and will in the future help other brides make their weddings more individual and beautiful, a service much underrepresented in Austria.

They chose a beautiful outdoor location for the ceremony, a city-owned flower garden, as well a very atmospheric reception location with a lake view.

Austrian Winter Elopement from Claire Morgan Photography

Elopements have a special kind of character. There’s a giddiness and a we-can’t-believe-we’re-doing-this kind of excitement that can’t be matched, so when I see the giggles and smiles throughout Claire Morgan Photography’s images of this winter elopement in Austria, I’m filled with all sorts of joy. A fresh blanket of snow, a Watters dress, adorably decorated Christmas trees, and oodles of true love are all you can ask for this Christmas and you can find it in the gallery right here.

From Claire Morgan PhotographyThis wedding was an elopement that took place shortly after Christmas last year in the beautiful historical city of Salzburg, Austria. The couple, Erin and Brett, are from North Carolina and decided to get married in a European location they had never traveled to before. Erin had her friends and family write wishes for them on the soles of her shoes and also had with her mother’s handbag and grandmother’s handkerchief with her so she felt a part of her family was with them. They had the civil ceremony at Schloss Mirabell and the church ceremony in Schloss Hellbrunn. I spent most of the day with them taking pictures at various locations around the old city.

From Claire of Claire Morgan PhotographyElaine is of Chinese decent and grew up in America, and Tom is half Austrian, half British. The two met in London, where they both now live. I loved the small elements from all nationalities that brought this international wedding together and also loved how one of Tom’s groomsmen performed their marriage ceremony! Not something you see very often these days. The wedding took place at the gorgeous Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria, in May. It was an outdoor ceremony setting with dinner in the Marble Hall.

Austrian Winter Wedding by Birgit Hart Fotografie

It was a glorious, snowy winter weekend for those of us in New England, and we’d be lying if we said we weren’t just a wee bit inspired by the snow-covered setting outside our windows. So we thought we would serve up the loveliest of winter fêtes for your Monday morning courtesy of Birgit Hart Fotografie. Hosted in the breathtaking hillsides of Austria (how gorgeous does it look there!?), this wedding just feels like a dream. From the beautiful Bride in blush to the alpine hut reception – it’s the perfect way to fill your morning with winter day dreams. See it all here!

From Birgit of Birgit Hart FotografieBettina & Martin’s wedding took place in Kirchberg in October and was surprisingly a real winter wedding. Temperatures fell from +20 C to 0 and we got 20 cm of fresh snow over night! The civil wedding took place in Kirchberg, followed by a get-together evening at Kasplatzl-Alm. Doreen Winking and I made a fun video of ourselves in the first snow. The ceremony took place on the next day at the Maierl Alm and was held by Gunter Mehler. Doreen hand-picked the staff for this wedding, and everything was perfect just as usual. She even found — last minute — Andreas Erber, who played the zither during the ceremony. He was even able to learn a special song for the couple within 15 minutes!

I think it’s a special task to decorate an alpine hut (although “hut” is not really appropriate for Maierl Alm – but I couldn’t find another word), but Julia Hörl did a great job as always! The stationery was designed by Karina Buddensiek, who did a great job as well. If anyone is wondering about the out-of-focus picture in this blog post: on purpose! Karina designed a lovely invitation card with an old, black and white, blurry self-portrait of the couple, and I’ve created a similar one for the thank-you card. The chalets of the Maierl Alm are absolutely marvelous by the way — and right by the ski slopes of Kitzbühel! And I’ve got to mention our hotel in Kirchberg: the opening of Rosengarten was just recently and Doreen and I were thrilled with our suites and with the breakfast! Two more names to mention: DJ Basti Stummer and percussionist Martina Prutscher did a great job as well!
