Held oceanfront at Olowalu, Mady and Josh’s wedding brought together elevated tropical design with deeply personal, spiritual elements. The couple worked closely with us to create a celebration that felt intimate, intentional, and reflective of their values.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]
Josh and Mady met at a pickleball tournament. Originally, they were supposed to play pickleball with a group of people; however, last minute, Mady decided to bail and watch a pickleball tournament that was taking place at a different location. Needless to say, the Universe had different plans for them, and it started raining in Austin, Texas. Ultimately, the tournament was moved to the original pickleball facility, and Josh and Mady finally met. Josh describes it as being struck by lightning when he first saw Mady walk in and immediately asked his friend who she was. It was love at first sight for both of them, and they knew immediately that it was going to be life-changing. Neither Josh nor Mady had marriage on their minds- but naturally, it was easy to envision a future of love and creating a life together. It feels like our love has always been guided by a higher authority. Since the moment they met, it’s truly felt like destiny. Josh proposed under the tree in his backyard in Austin, Texas, where he would meditate every day and call in the feeling of pure and unconditional love. He would try to feel what it would feel like and feel the energy of it. When he met Mady, he knew this was the same energy, and he knew right away that he wanted to marry her. Josh proposed after 3 months and says that he would have proposed sooner if they were able to ship the ring to Maui. He even purchased two rings because one of them would take longer to be ddeliveredand he couldn’t wait an extra 3 weeks!

Design details were layered with meaning: quartz crystal place cards symbolized clarity and love; hydrangea and tropical blooms nodded to nostalgia and place; and overhead crystal chandeliers added sophistication to the open-air dinner beneath a custom-built dance canopy. The couple’s aesthetic drew inspiration from Serena & Lily (clean, coastal, and textural), touches of garden romanticism, with spiritual realism.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The ceremony, officiated by their close friend and spiritual mentor @stefanossifandos, began with a sound bowl healing led by @vylana—a grounding ritual the couple regularly practices. A full floral arch of white and blue hydrangea, chosen in honor of the bride’s grandmother, anchored the oceanfront setting.[/field]

At the reception, a tattoo artist offered real tattoos, which was a bold and memorable experience. Justin Blake offered guests the opportunity to receive meaningful tattoos thoughtfully chosen by the bride and groom. Each design was a reflection of intention—ranging from delicate, fine-lined artwork to bold whale tail motifs, honoring the majestic presence of the whales migrating through Maui’s waters during this sacred season. Justin Blake continuously tattooed throughout the end of the reception and still had a waitlist of 20 guests. It was one of the most unique parts of this reception.

A live artist was also present throughout the reception and painted a photo that she took of the couple as they walked up the aisle. Guests were able to watch her skill manifest into the final product by the end of the night for the couple to take home. Every element from custom vow books to the bride’s bespoke dress was considered. The result was a celebration that felt romantic, meaningful, and entirely their own.
