Originally from Oklahoma and inspired by their shared love of travel, the couple envisioned a wedding that reflected both their roots and their journey together. The design blended classic Charleston elegance with Cuban influences from the groom’s heritage, creating a celebration that was both refined and full of color. Thoughtful details like rattan chargers, light blue floral-patterned plates, and playful florals added texture and warmth to the tablescapes, subtly nodding to the couple’s love for this Southern city. Set at the secluded Old Wide Awake in the Lowcountry, the intimate gathering felt like a true destination experience, surrounded by the couple’s closest family and friends.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]The couple got engaged in the breathtaking Douro Valley of Portugal after a day filled with the things they love the most – travel, adventure, and wine. The morning started with a run through the streets of Porto, followed by a scenic vineyard tour and a quiet picnic among the vines. As the sun began to set, the groom proposed overlooking the valley, with the sweeping landscape as their backdrop. They have been together since high school, and this moment was the perfect blend of their past and everything they’re looking forward to in the future. [/field]

The bride’s Alena Leena wedding gown is from the bridal shop, Bryde, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is adorned with hundreds of delicate 3D floral petals and chiffon appliqués that create an ethereal, romantic effect. Its delicate spaghetti straps, embellished with the same intricate floral details, gracefully frame the neckline, while the petals cascade seamlessly across the bodice and flow down the soft chiffon skirt. Light and airy, this gown was perfectly suited for the bride’s summer wedding in Charleston, capturing the city’s timeless elegance and warm, sunlit charm.

The bridesmaids’ dresses were thoughtfully curated from various shops, including Revelry, Azazie, and Vow’d. They created a beautiful, eclectic mix that perfectly complemented the bride’s vision, featuring soft blues, greens, and delicate florals, weaving together a harmonious yet fresh aesthetic.

Salthouse Catering & Events created a culinary experience that highlighted the rich flavors of Charleston, South Carolina. Guests enjoyed a curated raw bar during cocktail hour, along with a mix of passed hors d’oeuvres, followed by entrée options of beef filet or scallops, thoughtfully paired with Carolina gold middlins rice and benne seed asparagus. To round out the experience, late-night bites included crowd-pleasing fried chicken biscuits—an ode to Southern comfort. Every element was thoughtfully crafted to reflect the flavors and hospitality of the Lowcountry.

The bride envisioned a palette that was happy and cheerful, bringing a vibrant energy to the entire celebration. Floral arrangements lined the aisle, guiding the way to the venue’s iconic greenery-lined steps, where two large, lush arrangements created a stunning ceremony backdrop. For the reception, bright and colorful centerpieces perfectly complemented the Charleston-Cuban-inspired place settings and linens, tying together the design with a joyful and cohesive feel.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

In place of a traditional wedding cake, the couple chose a gelato truck offering a variety of flavors—a fun and meaningful nod to their first date, which ended with ice cream, and their tradition of never skipping dessert. It was the perfect cool and sweet touch for a hot summer wedding day, delighting guests and adding a personal, nostalgic element to the celebration.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The groom brought along his own film camera to capture personal moments throughout the day—most notably, candid shots of his bride that he took himself. This heartfelt detail added an intimate, nostalgic layer to the celebration and reflected the couple’s shared appreciation for storytelling through imagery. His perspective behind the lens offered a unique, personal glimpse into the day’s emotion and beauty. It was a meaningful way to preserve their memories beyond the professional photos.[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The specialty linens were chosen as a nod to the couple’s shared love of travel and the vibrant cultures that have shaped their story. The design reflects both their time in Portugal, where they were engaged, and the groom’s Cuban heritage, blending personal meaning with the colorful spirit of celebration they wanted to bring to their wedding day.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

Instead of the traditional approach, the couple wanted to use a custom mailbox and guests to leave notes on postcards they had collected from their favorite places around the world together. This thoughtful detail added a nostalgic, travel-inspired aesthetic to the overall design that truly elevated the guest experience.
