Anna Kathryn wanted to embrace Valentine’s Day. She chose shades of pink, and we had details that were a nod to the date.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]DJ and Anna Kathryn’s love story isn’t your typical love story. Both were
born and raised in nearby towns in Louisiana, but never really crossed paths. They
met for the first time in 2015 during a big rival football weekend – DJ had just
finished his memorable college years as a football player for LSU, and Anna
Kathryn was thriving as a freshman sorority girl at Ole Miss. They were in
completely different parts of life, but knew in the back of their minds that they
were special to each other. Years go by of multiple coincidental run-in’s in
different cities, and after 7 years of being friends, they decided to “see where
things go”! So, in January of 2022, the two decided to take their friendship to new
heights. DJ and Anna Kathryn happily dated for two years that were full of
adventure, laughter, and lots of fun. They were truly attached at each other’s hip!
DJ wanted to take Anna Kathryn skiing for the first time, so he
“spontaneously” booked a trip to Big Sky, Montana for a couple days of skiing and
to visit their best friends, who live in Montana. Anna Kathryn thought nothing of
it, as DJ is the type of guy who likes the thrill of being spontaneous, so she went
with the flow and had fun shopping for her cute ski outfits! She truly had no idea
what he had up his sleeve.
Their first couple days of their trip felt normal – ski class, dinner with
friends, shopping, nothing out of the ordinary. On February 3, 2024, the third day
of their trip, DJ immediately was acting like it was game day – focused, nervous,
excited, which all are normal characteristics of DJ. Anna Kathryn still didn’t think
much of it! She was a little nervous to ski without her instructor, so successfully
getting down the ski mountain was all that was on her mind. After some
hesitations and resistance from Anna Kathryn, DJ was able to get her on the
gondola with the rest of the group – his plan was being executed perfectly. The
photographer was on the gondola behind us, ready to take position and
document the whole proposal. Finally, they got on top of the mountain, with the
most beautiful views of pure white snow falling, it was truly a white winter
wonderland. Their friends distracted Anna Kathryn by taking selfies, with their
backs turned so she couldn’t see DJ take position. Then, Anna Kathryn turned
around, naturally to look for DJ, and with a smile and a shaking hand, DJ was
down on one knee.
"Anna Kathryn Elizabeth Moody," he said, voice filled with emotions, "Will
you marry me?"
And in that moment — just like every moment they'd shared before — she was
exactly where she was meant to be. She immediately said “YES!” and the two
shared the most special moment, embraced each other with so much love and
excitement, and celebrated with their closest friends the rest of their trip. It was
a full circle moment for DJ and Anna Kathryn, and now, the rest is history![/field]

Anna Kathryn’s romantic wedding gown walked the runway of Oscar de la Renta’s iconic 2024 bridal collection. Her dress is made with dreamy floral applique details, touches of glistening Swarovski crystal, and an abundance of layers of Oscar de la Renta’s beautiful tulle – all of what made her gown an unforgettable staple of their wedding night! Earrings are from Jennifer Behr’s beautiful bridal collection. Mother of the Bride’s dress was a custom design by Nardos, earrings were custom-made by Katherine Jetter, and all were styled by Julie Roberts at Elizabeth Anthony.

Anna Kathryn’s bridesmaids wore a gorgeous, sleek silhouette from Lula Kate. The simplicity of the style dress, balanced with the boldness of the beautiful Garden Flora jacquard fabric, made a gorgeous statement in their wedding! They were perfect for a Valentine’s Day wedding!

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]
The groom wore a sophisticated, custom tuxedo by Jack Victor, styled by the wonderful team at Vincent Ford Custom Apparel in Houston, Texas. His white dinner jacket was the perfect complement to Anna Kathryn’s wedding dress! DJ’s groomsmen’s tuxedos were tuxedos from Mary Ellen’s Tux Shop in Lafayette, Louisiana.

We designed a menu that featured many local favorites, such as Crab Claws and Shrimp Marmalade set inside Martini Glasses and presented on an ice display. Guests enjoyed Beef Tenderloin hand-carved throughout the night. The couple’s favorite, margaritas from Superior Grill Lafayette, were picked up and enjoyed by the wedding party before the Trolley ride to the reception. A pink neon sign reading “Will you be our Valen-tini” featured an Ice Luge serving the bride’s favorite, an Espresso Martini, complete with whole coffee beans and other garnishments.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]
Blush Peonies, Ranunculus, Garden Roses, and Orchids in shades of pink enhanced every part of the reception. Blush Satin Linens draped each table, where candles and florals were added throughout. Cherry Blossoms and Roses covered the structure that held hanging vintage chandeliers over the band performance area. Shadow Boxes with Acrylic wedding monogram created by Aaron Grey Co. A Lounge Area was set behind the dance floor in white, blush, and hot pink, accented with monogrammed pillows.

Hark Creative Owner and Designer, Caitlin Gossen, created the monogram and a colorful pattern for the Save the Dates that Wedding Planner, Hannah Traha, weaved throughout the event. Hannah had a custom backdrop created for the Valentini Espresso Martini Station, and the skirt in the women’s bathroom was made with the pattern. The Monogram Caitlin created was the setting for the dance floor, which was under hanging florals, greenery, and roses.

The groom’s cake was a replica of Tiger Stadium, a nod to his time playing football for the LSU Tigers. It was complete with a photo of the DJ on the scoreboard and replicas of the bride and groom on the outside of the station. LSU and Ole Miss (the bride’s alma mater) Drink Stirrers were set at the bar so the guests could choose their team.

Stephanie Gaffney created a live painting of Anna Kathryn and DJ’s first dance while The Aviary created fashion sketches of guests as gifts from the couple.
