From the Bride… I have always loved the look of tent weddings with lots of white, greenery and twinkle lights. We achieved this look by adding the white draping from the ceiling and the drape entrance wall decorated in greenery. It was very important to me to have an outdoor component to the wedding, so our cocktail hour was in an outdoor courtyard off the main reception room.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]
From the bride… Scott was planning on proposing by Lake Michigan in Chicago, but he couldn’t wait and proposed on the couch in our first apartment together. We went out for champagne and a nice dinner afterwards. The next day, we celebrated with both families and close friends.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]
From the bride… Our signature drinks were The Hemingway and an Aperol Spritz. The Hemingway recipe is from a local bar in Charlevoix! Its sparkling rose, St. Germain elderflower liqueur and club soda making it refreshing, bubbly and just a little sweet. The Aperol Spritz is self-explanatory because who doesn’t love a spritz in the summer? We had a wedge salad to start, chicken marsala with garlic-herb roasted beef tenderloin, white truffle mashed potatoes and roasted brussels sprouts and onions for the main course and assorted cupcakes for dessert.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]
From the bride… We had white draping hung on the ceiling and a front entrance drape wall decorated with greenery. We had a small floral arrangement on every table. The ceremony had two large planters on either side of the aisleway, small bouquets on every third chair going down the aisle tied with a white bow and a swag placed at the top of the arch we married under.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]
From the bride… We had a small simple chocolate wedding cake with white frosting just for the two of us and cupcakes for our guests.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]
From the bride… The groom’s sister, Kim, wrote a poem and read it during the ceremony. We also had a close family friend, Jeff, read a poem of his choice about love and marriage. I walked down the aisle to a live piano performance of Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley. The recessional song was Better Together by Jack Johnson. Our band, Space Cat, played a mix of older songs and newer songs and kept everybody on the dance floor all night. The highlight was getting the groom on stage to help sing Shout.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The band, Space Cat, had everyone on the dance floor the whole night. Flip flops were available for anyone who wanted to kick of their heels and dance the night away in comfort. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Polaroid cameras were set up so that guests could snap away some pics and put them into a guestbook. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The couple chose some of their favorite photos from their Chicago engagement session and placed them around the reception tables to add to the decor. [/field]
