A Whimsical Affair at the Bride’s Childhood Home by the Water

[section title=”The Planning”]

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The bride had two colors in mind when dreaming of her wedding. Purple and green. The couple agreed they wanted to pull color inspiration from nature, specifically from the waterfront. But purple was the color the bride wanted to see scattered through the day. [/field]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The couple exchanged vows and celebrated at the brides childhood home on the water. We knew we wanted to bring in natural and nautical elements, along with the ONE request from the groom. He wanted his favorite flower throughout the tent, white roses. They allowed for me to have full design control, as long as we brought in those few elements, so we had a lot of fun! The intimate ceremony was nestled along the shoreline, where we let nature sing and brought in very little design elements. The string quartet and simple rose petal aisle helped pull in the romantic feeling.

Guests were ushered about 20 feet from the ceremony for cocktail hour. There is a long coast line with a beach and pier along the back of the house. We wanted guests to take advantage of not only the waterfront, but beautiful wrap around porch. There was a signature bar in front of the pier with both the bride and grooms favorite cocktails. There was a circle bar in the middle of the yard, and large boat with beer. We had a cigar roller on the porch and an entire boat with nothing but oysters.

When guests were ushered into the tent, they were greeted with an on site watercolor artist creating a masterpiece for the couples home. There was a large square bar with a large floral chandelier over the dance floor. The sailcloth tent was draped in greenery, which was a beautiful contract to the hardwood floor that was custom made for our couple.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the Bride, Julianna:

It was my birthday, October 21st. When I arrived home from work, I was kind surprised that the entire house was cleaned and candle burning. Yes, Curtis does clean, but this wasn’t his typically “straighten” up cleaning. We went out to dinner at Charleston. When we got back from dinner, he gave me my birthday gift, which I cannot remember what it was. Then when I told him I was ready to go to bed, due to work the next morning, he said he had another gift. He went upstairs to get it and when he came back down to the living room, he told me to close my eyes while sitting on the couch. Then he bent down on one knee, which our dog, Archie, didn’t like and therefore almost knocked him over by trying to jump on him. He told me to open my eyes and when I did, he had the ring box opened and asked me to marry him. My first response to him was, “Is this a joke?” After he said no, he said, “Let me try this again” and asked me, “Would you marry me?” When I realized this wasn’t a joke, I replied, “YES!”[/field]

[section title=”The Details”]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Maryland themed food was very important for this Maryland wedding. All passed appetizers were Maryland and seafood themed. But the three course meal that was all of our couples favorite food! Guests enjoyed surf and turf while listening to classic music and toasts from the bridal party. As guests were exiting for the evening, another favorite treat from the bride and groom was waiting…a mexican food truck with custom made tacos the couple requested!

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Florals were very important. We had to compete with mother nature, and their yard was nothing short of magnificent. We decided to let the ceremony and cocktail hour speak for themselves. The entire floral budget went towards turning the tent into a masterpiece that rivaled the view right outside. The entire ceiling was draped with greenery. A 7ft round chandelier with florals and greenery hung over the dance floor. We had three different table sizes and centerpieces. We brought in our grooms favorite flowers on the length of the 8 rectangle farm tables. Nothing but white roses, candles a floral printed runner cascaded down the center. On the 4 round farm tables surrounding the perimeter held lush and very large compotes with white florals, but mostly roses of course. The smaller round tables in the center of the floor plan all had large green tall centerpieces to bring in a bit of height. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was simple, but delicious! The most important part was the small Corgi statue as an ode to their sweet pup. [/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]It was very important for the couple to have a watercolor of the brides parents house throughout the wedding. The calligrapher brought it through the invitation and then again through the escort card. The invitation also had a letterpress of the creek where they house is located on. Everything we intentional and special. [/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]This brides bouquet has been one of my favorite of all time. Maya from Bee Inspired had 100% creative direction and created a one of a kind purple bouquet![/field]
