Rattan, Hydrangeas, and “Old Florida” Vibes at the Gasparilla Inn Beach Club!

Overall, we wanted our wedding design to match the “Old Florida” vibes of our venue at Gasparilla Inn Beach Club in Boca Grande, Florida. We went with striped linens, rattan candle holders, white hydrangeas, oranges, colorful invitations, etc which went perfectly with our reception being outside surrounding the pool.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]We had an intimate proposal at our apartment in Chicago the Sunday after Thanksgiving in 2021. Afterwards, we went and bought a Christmas tree and decorated our apartment for Christmas. It was just the two of us and I couldn’t have asked for anything better![/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Designer – Rosa Clara. I found the dress on Pinterest and knew I had to have it :) I could only find the dress at a bridal shop in New Jersey (Vera’s Bridal) and flew there from Chicago for a weekend to get it – it was the only dress I ever tried on![/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]All catering was done through the Gasparilla Inn. We had a buffet style dinner right on the pool deck which included a handful of local seafood dishes such as Blackened Red Fish, Shrimp Étouffée and Oysters. [/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]We wanted the decor to match the classic “Old Florida” look of the Gasparilla Inn. We gravitated towards a simple/classic design on the pool deck with striped tablecloths, rattan candles, white hydrangeas, colorful menus/table numbers and oranges to hold our guest’s escort cards. The beauty of getting married at the Beach Club at the Gasparilla Inn is that we didn’t need to go over the top with decorations, being right on the pool deck surrounded by the ocean! [/field]

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]My brother in law officiated the wedding, and one of my best friend’s from growing up sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” as I walked down the aisle with my mom, sister and baby niece.[/field]
