A Blend of Greek Finesse and Scottish Heritage Styled to Perfection

[section title=”The Planning”]

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Ioanna Karatza, the even’ts planner shares: ‘Julia and I clicked right away! From our first call I knew I had to work together with an elegant bride who knew exactly what she wanted for her dream day!

So, when colors popped in our discussion, olive green was a must to honor her Greek roots and powder pink combined with touches of rusted gold were perfect to emphasize on the luxury of the day. ‘[/field]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Details incorporated to remind everyone of the Greek finesse and the Scottish heritage! We meant to design a timeless chic wedding that would be remembered in the years to come. Enchanted by our majestic sea view location of the wedding reception and a chic décor in pal tones of pink and pistachio green, we hosted a party for guests arriving in Greece from 14 different countries around the world! And believe me, goal was achieved! The party ended early next morning![/field]

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Our beloved bride shares: ‘A January weekend in one of our favourite getaway cities – Milan. The story unfolds with an exquisite first evening performance of Romeo and Juliet at la Scala. As both well acquainted with the city from the time we both lived there (though at different times – in a parallel universe), we spent most of the following day walking through with picturesque streets of Brera, enjoying food in familiar spots and marking off our list one activity we both had managed to miss during our time in Milan. The duomo terrace. We went there during sunset and were mesmerised by the colourful symphony, in perfect harmony with the architecture marvel around us. To top the weekend, a romantic dinner at “Langosteria”. Back to our hotel, my now husband was insisting on a drink by the patio – during a very cold January evening – and his sweet persuasion had us sooner rather than later walking down the gardens of Bulgari Hotel. I soon came to realise the surprise awaiting, a table for two filled with opulent flowers, embellished by candles and champagne under a clear starry sky. As we sat down and my darling started speaking, I could not help my heart skipping a beat. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect moment for us to declare our love for one another and embark on this trip together. ‘[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Our beloved bride shares: ‘At first, it is almost unfathomable that there is indeed one dress that will blow your mind away among the variety and abundance of the wedding gowns you will be presented with. I was fortunate to find my special one in Milan, at “Nicole Milano” surrounded by my mother and my closest friends. The versatility achieved in one dress, a strapless French chiffon dress ideal for the almost-summery Greek party reception transforming into a classic outfit accompanied by a lace bolero for our ceremony was the winning combination. ‘[/field]

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]- Grooms attire __ paragraph shared from the bride

A proud Scotsman, wearing his kilt with honour as it embodies his enduring heritage and tradition. Especially created and tailored by Kinloch Anderson for the occasion, featuring the tartan and colours of the groom’s clan. A proper kilt is usually accompanied by a sporran, a small bag worn around the waist and over the kilt. It’s the Gaelic word for purse; A kilt pin holds the two pieces together at the front; and the Sgian dubh (skee-an doo) is a small dagger that sits in the sock.[/field]

[section title=”The Details”]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Food and drinks were meticulously chosen by our couple including cocktail delicacies to a 5-course menu combining Greek and international flavors. Dipnosofistirion catering and their staff exceeded our expectations and our guests never stopped complimenting the dishes![/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]From Jim Labraco, our bespoke and so talented floral designer: ‘For the wedding of J+D we decided to use nude tones and colors… hydrangeas and garden roses…. The combination of those creates a calming ambiance while they bring the air of refined beauty, evoking a sense of luxury and sophistication[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was an amazing combination of the art of Ioanna Karatza and Jim Labraco.[/field]

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]our beloved bride shares: ‘Our ceremony consisted of our favourite readings, read by some of the most important people in our lives, heartfelt music performed by talented singers and musicians from the Greek National Opera, blessings offered by our friends translated in the many languages that have shaped our international backgrounds and last but not least a riveting a capella performance of “Our Father” by a dear family member. The Catholic cathedral of Athens was imposing with a majestic beauty that required little to no decorative embellishments, the perfect venue for our special day in the heart of Athens. ‘[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Our beloved bride shares:

‘Luckenbooth – the heart-shaped ornament proudly worn by the groom.

The Luckenbooth Brooch is an enduring Scottish symbol of love, friendship and good luck, strongly associated with Edinburgh. Traditionally made of silver and sometimes set with a Cairngorm or gemstones, the Luckenbooth design is typically heart-shaped, or two hearts intertwined, surmounted by a crown. The first Luckenbooth brooches date from the late seventh century. This traditional gift was given by a man to his sweetheart on their betrothal – on our modern day version, this was one of the bride’s surprises to her beloved for their special moment.'[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]From George Liopetas:

My favorite detail from Julia and David’s wedding was their kind souls. I was more than honored to meet them in person for the first time and shoot the pre wedding session of these two sweethearts back in New York, were I spent my last winter while my time there for New York Fashion Week. I always admired the good people, especially when ‘good’ is perfectionated with kindness, smiling and warm heart. We had some amazing portraits beginning from the Bethesda fountain. After a few really really cold minutes, we decided to have a walk at Central Park (by the way, Central Park is so amazing during the winter days too) ending our walk at The Met, where we had some fancy portraits, too. Finally, we visited Morgan Library, where we ended having some classy yet ‘so in fashion’ portraits, as the library portrait session is so in fashion right now in NYC.
