From the planner: “Cameron had always envisioned getting married in nature, with trees and mountains surrounding them. While wedding planning, they fell in love with DAR Constitution Hall, which is a space that is dear to Grace. To make both their dreams come to life, they incorporated gorgeous, lush, florals into their day. They had the best of both worlds – celebrating with their loved ones in the middle of the city, all while enjoying the garden-like feel they brought into the space. When first planning the wedding, they picked the date to be the bride’s grandparent’s wedding anniversary date. Although they had thought of an outdoor wedding, their date was in March! This inspired them to bring in a garden feel to the wedding.”

[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the planner: “One day while playing Stardew Valley, Cameron proposed to Grace in the game. She said yes, and then he proposed to her in real life. She also said yes! It was intimate and personalized just like Grace dreamed about. They met during the pandemic and dated virtually for months where every night they would play Stardew Valley virtually and chat. So, it was a perfect, and very fitting proposal for them!
Cameron proposed after Grace’s Grandfather’s passing. Her Grandfather was a role model for Grace and it was important to him that Cameron propose. It was heartbreaking for him not to be able to be there for the proposal, but Cameron made sure to propose before his funeral so that they could let him know, in a way, that Cameron was always going to be there for Grace.”[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]
From the planner: Specialty Cocktails: Empress Lavender Lemonade to go with the lavender theme, Grace’s Grandfather’s favorite color & Cherry Blossom Bellini, since it was peak cherry blossom bloom! Grace and Cameron wanted to incorporate fun, crowd-pleasing foods into their menu, so their guests enjoyed items ranging from chicken biscuits to Maryland crab cakes! They also wanted a sense of whimsy in the food, with a late-night snack of bagel bites and pigs in a blanket. They also couldn’t pass on the hot chocolate bar and s’mores bar. It is Cameron’s favorite drink, after all! Crab Cakes were Grace’s Grandmother’s favorite.”

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]
From the planner: “Guests walked into a stunning garden-like feel, all while in the middle of the city. With pops of light blue and lavender throughout the decor, the bride leaned into incorporating color throughout the evening. The white flowers incorporated peonies (the bride’s favorite flower) and a hidden Carnation (the groom’s favorite flower). The florals also included flowers that were the bride’s Grandmother’s favorites, who is no longer with them.”

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]From the planner: “Their cake was topped with florals that tied in with the rest of their decor. To add a little bit of extra sparkle, the cake was atop a sequined tablecloth. They saved the top tier of the cake for their honeymoon!”[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Grace wore her grandmother’s pearls that both her Grandmother wore and her mom wore at their weddings. She also wore her other Grandmother’s opal earrings that she left Grace when she passed.
The first dance was a waltz performed by Megan Beller and her husband, a contra band. The duo was a favorite band of Grace’s Grandfather before he passed. They used to go dancing to them on Friday nights at Glen Echo.
The favors for their guests were crocheted Junimos handmade by the Mother of the Groom. Junimos are a forest sprite in Stardew Valley that they are both fond of.
The bride’s rings were custom designed by the couple. They were on theme with a lavender sapphire center stone. The groom’s ring was a vintage find that matched the bride’s rings.
They had a memorial table to honor those family members they had lost – Grace’s grandparents, her cousin Spencer and her Uncle Tom.
Grace’s Grandparents were married over 50 years and truly loved each other until the day they passed. Grace and Cameron incorporated them in every way that we could think of. They were truly role models and an inspiration. They can only hope to be so lucky. [/field]
