When two outdoor-seeking people fall head over bootheels in love, you know they are bound for a wedding adventure. And that’s precisely what wedding guests got for Gretchen and Kyle’s wedding weekend… a crazy beautiful wedding adventure. While the couple lives in Cali, they knew immediately they would be Texas bound for their wedding festivities since the bride’s family has an incredible family ranch to host the affair. It all started with glamping tents set for the bridal party, shooting clay for the groom and groomsmen, and ATV excursions over the vast 1000+ acres of the family Woodson ranch. This celebration is chock full of Southern charm and detail. A little back story and important detail of our very sweet and beautiful bride… Gretchen is Type 1 diabetic and has so articulately crafted a following as an influencer and promoter for those touched by Type 1. She uses her platform for both playful love and life but also for open and honest dialogue about her struggles and how she has overcome them continuing to inspire those in her same circles. She has truly touched our team with her light within and love for those around here. What an honor to give Gretch the wedding of her dreams. Friday night before the big day, our team crafted the most romantic rehearsal dinner. With a barn light up, hay bales surrounding oversized fire pits, and a real chuckwagon outdoor chef, the guests experienced firsthand how a cowboy makes sourdough biscuits from scratch while cattle roam free nearby. It was a casual night of toasting by the fire, bellowing laughter, and eating under the Texas night sky. The big day had arrived, and shuttles picked up the wedding guests in Mule Alley outside Hotel Drover. Another node to the west a preview of what guests can expect for the rest of the day. With its roughly bricked alleys and elevated Western vibe, out-of-state guests enjoyed spots like the Side Saddle Saloon for a spirit the night before. Our couple thought after each decision with the utmost intent. As guests loaded up and headed to the ranch, our design team was underway to create the production. Our overall design was a modern mix of western living. It’s a juxtaposition of textures like rattan in chargers and chandeliers with modern and monochromatic floral in white. I wanted the mood to coexist with the nature surrounding. Gretchen and Kyle are youthful and currently live in Cali, so I also wanted to marry that West Coast vibe with the Texas landscape. Upon arriving at the ranch, guests were transported by hay bale tractors down to the ceremony site which was one of the couple’s favorite spots on the stretch of land. It was a small landing with a cliff and an overlook to a pond below. Along the hay bale ride, everyone was given a little Texas small batch of Tequila to taste. The ceremony was kept simple with a blooming aisle of babies breathe and long stem white floral. After the ceremony, guests head to the cocktail hour where longhorns are waiting for selfies and little burros are packed with beers for grabs—then dinner and dancing in a clear top tent under the stars. BUT we can’t forget our two most favorite details of the night. Our assigned seating was comprised of custom bandanas with the ranch brand.. one for each guest. To make it even more personal, a chain stitcher there onsite to personalize each. (a little nod to the bride’s own business of hand stitching her merch – check her out @TYPEoneTYPEhappy) Topped with an awesome show of fireworks and live painter, each moment was crafted with love.

A Rita Vinieris gown with romantic layers of tulle, Gretchen had the dress custom modified to remove the long-skirted bottom after dinner to create a short ruffled dress ready for the dancefloor.

Nothing is more Texan than our favorite Tex-Mex. Who needs fancy passed Hors d’oeuvres when you have chips/salsa /and queso boats going around?

The floral design was a mix of opulent baby’s breath and wood textures.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

Our escort assigned seating idea waspersonalized western neck scarves for each guest. That led them to their assigned table, but later they had the option of getting their name or initials chain stitched onsite—such a fun interactive way to gift something special to our friends and family.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Hobie was the star of the show, Gretchen and Kyle’s doggie can be spotted throughout the night. His favorite spot was curled up on the train of her dress during vows. [/field]
