Classic White Wedding in Restored Sugar Mill in Maui

Haiku Mill were the perfect place for Couture Events Maui to plan a day that pulled out all the stops.  From a ceremony staircase covered in lush white floral arrangements to a reception dripping in elegance, Mandy Grace Floral & Event Design created pure wedding magic.  Every endlessly romantic detail is elegantly captured in the imagery by Dmitri and Sandra Photography, see it all inside the full gallery.

From Dmitri and Sandra Photography… Timeless, classic and romantic are the first words that come to mind as we look back at Colin and Victoria’s wedding at the Haiku Mill on Maui. This 150-year-old Restored Sugar Mill was the perfect setting for their celebration filled with blousy white florals and timeless details. They chose a neutral color palette of whites, green, ecru, dove gray and gold which enhanced the natural beauty of the historic ruins. From the elegant ceremony to the reception, all the details included sweet touches by the couple. We particularly loved the hand-written thank-you notes for each of their guests as escort cards and the super fun audio guest book. They danced the night away in company of their family and friends in the most romantic reception setting. Their wedding was a photographer’s dream!

From Couture Events Maui… Classic romance with an approachable vibe was the foundation of Victoria and Colin’s design. They are two very romantic, sentimental and thoughtful people and their wedding reflected that. I absolutely loved how Victoria and Colin were so into the details and design, naturally, being designers themselves. A signature wedding scent of sweet gardenia filled the air. We love ingraining different cues into our client’s mind so that they can remember their wedding day. The sweet gardenia scent had a sentimental touch for Victoria. We filled the dance-floor, bridal suite and hotel room with their signature candle in hopes that this scent will bring fond memories of their romantic wedding on Maui. Neutral tones set the mood for their heartfelt ceremony. As day turned into night, candlelight and chandeliers filled their reception space creating a romantic atmosphere for guests to sip, dine and dance the night away as they celebrated Victoria and Colin. We pulled in so many personal elements into this wedding, which is always the goal. Colin gifts Victoria with lilies and roses on a regular basis so we thought it would be appropriate to bring those florals into the design. We set up a beautiful arrangement of lilies on their antique bar so guests could enjoy the sweet fragrance while watching their cocktails being made. Victoria’s bridal bouquet was made of classic long stem roses and completed her timeless look. Victoria’s handwriting was incorporated into the day of paper goods that she and Colin designed together. They added sweet notes about their relationship and the reasons behind choosing certain things for their wedding day; thoughtful and personalized, making their wedding feel extra special.

From the Bride… I’m one of those ladies that dream about their wedding as a little girl and saw the Haiku Mill years back. Funny story, I actually showed Colin the Haiku Mill during our second week of dating and his response was, “I’m down!”. Two years later, he proposed and we knew the Haiku Mill was it. When you know, you know, right? Colin and I are both designers and so the classic, timeless, and romantic aesthetic spoke to us. We’re also weird, goofy individuals and wanted to give an approachable feel to our day. We care a lot about the details and wanted our wedding elements to be special as they were sentimental. From our invitations and stationery that we designed together, to handwritten letters, to our choice of flowers, food selection and our own wedding day scent; all spoke to elements in our love story that we wanted to share with our loved ones. It was important to us that we had timeless, beautiful photos shot in film and digital. Equally, we love, love food and we wanted to ensure our guests ate well. All of our vendors made our Maui wedding an absolute dream. When you choose to work with genuine, talented people you admire and trust, the rest takes care of itself. We got to simply enjoy our wedding day and be present. We will be eternally grateful for the love and care that went into the planning and execution of our wedding. If you are planning your wedding in Maui the only advice we have for you is to have fun, enjoy the process and don’t forget to pack coral reef safe sunscreen.
