From the Bride… Alex and I met many moons ago back when we were in college, which feels like a lifetime ago. As fate would have it, I was late for class as usual, and the only seat available was next to him. While passing papers along, he managed to strike up a conversation with me. We talked throughout the whole class. Needless to say, we didn’t learn much that day.
He told me to put my number in his phone and I was happy to oblige. I remember thinking to myself on the way home while gripping the handle in a crowded train car, “I met someone today.” It felt like a moment out of a movie. My advice to other couples, enjoy the process! It’s such a great opportunity to collaborate with your family, future in-laws, and friends on an event that will be so meaningful in your life. My family was happy to participate in whatever way they could, large or small, and they were happy to see their contributions incorporated into our big day. Most of our friends were married already so they gladly offered up their advice. I like to think I benefitted from all of their experiences.
Ultimately, your wedding day is about you and your future spouse so stay true to what’s important to the both of you. Another piece of advice that gave me comfort was knowing that most weddings don’t usually go according to plan but your guests will never know the difference so not to stress too much about it.
