Not Even a Snowstorm in June Could Stop This Colorful Wedding Day from Shining

This charming June wedding in Big Sky, Montana planned by Habitat Events started off with a snowstorm (that’s right, a SNOWstorm in July!) and ended with clear skies ahead. As you scroll through the full gallery captured beautifully by Simply Sarah Photography, you can’t help but feel the happiness radiating from every picture, the love between this adorable bride and groom is truly contagious. From the bright yellow arrangements by Habitat Floral Studio to the floral bridesmaid dresses, it’s safe to say this gorgeous wedding day has no shortage of heavenly blooms. See all the magical details below!

From the bride… Jim and I went to Marfa, TX to celebrate my birthday and hike Guadalupe Peak (the tallest mountain in Texas) in April of 2018. We woke up early on April 12th, like 3 am early, to get to this base of the mountain. I thought it was because we needed the time to avoid bad weather and to have enough daylight; I later found out that it was because Jim wanted us to be alone at the top. We hiked up the mountain and at the top Jim proposed!

I grew up in Big Sky, or at least it feels that way! My family has had a vacation home there for as long as I can remember. My sister and I learned how to drive there and my first job was actually working at Moonlight Lodge. After Jim and I started dating, one of our first trips was to Montana and he fell in love with it as much as I did. When the time came to choose a venue, it was a no-brainer to share a place we love with all the people we love so deeply. My inspiration really came from my favorite color, yellow. If I could have made my bridesmaids wear yellow and still be a good friend, I would have.

We were getting married in the most beautiful place on earth and I wanted the decor to complement the mountains without trying to compete. Habitat Events executed my ideas better than I could have ever imagined. I loved every moment of our wedding day. I loved getting ready with my crazy friends and family while watching the snow come down through the trees. I loved hearing my nephew tell me hello all through our ceremony and I thought it was awesome that he picked me a flower as he was walking down the aisle and gave it to Jim to give to me all because the flower was yellow!

I absolutely loved our vows. Being able to finally hear the words Jim prepared for me, melted my heart and seeing him get emotional was so moving. I also loved taking our couple’s portraits after the ceremony. It felt like we went to a secret place of our own to celebrate our wedding privately before the craziness of the reception.

No other photography team could have captured the craziness that was our wedding. From dealing with my rowdy bridesmaids, my even rowdier father to the unpredictable weather, ( snow in June!!)  the Simply Sarah team was absolutely amazing! They made Jim and I feel so comfortable during our portraits and we are totally not “picture people”! With Sarah and Will, it felt like old friends were taking photos of us throughout the entire wedding weekend instead of people we had just met that day! It’s not even a question— hire Simply Sarah Photography!
