This is How You Turn a City Hall Wedding Into a Magical Celebration

When most of us hear ‘city hall wedding’, we envision a quick and casual affair. But today’s celebration at San Francisco City Hall is far from hasty and basic… it’s magical to say the least, all thanks to Charmed Events Group, LLC. Dreamy blooms, a mauve color palette and whimsical reception made for one truly special day, all captured by Jasmine Lee Photography and Imperial Productions.

From Charmed Events Group, LLC… Allison and Marvin met as children in church and reconnected in their later years to find that they were soulmates. They’ve always felt that their story was like a fairytale and thus, wanted to use the Disney theme of “Live the Magic” to personify their San Francisco wedding. With a beautiful color palette of mauves paired with metal tones of silver, rose gold and gold, we set out to create a design that matched their personality and the ambience that they wanted to create for their day.

Everything about their venue choices was a nod to the ever so iconic landmarks of San Francisco. Their ceremony took place at the beautiful Saints Peter and Paul Church and their reception was held at San Francisco City Hall. For Cocktail Hour, we really wanted to bring out their theme of “Live the Magic” and created a custom, handpainted, watercolor backdrop that had individual, rose gold Rock Candy Crystal Sticks for guests to find their seat to. For the reception, we wanted to create a really upscale and sophisticated feeling for their reception and chose a neutral palette for the design and let the colors embodied from the flowers to bring out the desired mood and ambience. One of my favorite design components were the customized menus that we created for each guest that really added that extra special touch to each place setting…especially paired with those beautiful, diamond chargers! Pretty Please SF created a beautiful rose gold cake for the couple to cut into and of course, their first dance was set to the Disney theme song “Live the Magic” to complete the evening.

From the Bride… Marvin and I met when we were 16 years old at our church’s youth group however started dating in college. Through college and the start of our  careers we always reminded each other to DREAM BIG, in all aspects of our life. In November of 2015, Marvin popped the question in front of all of our family and friends at the Union Square ice skating rink in San Francisco, the perfect spot, in our city.

We definitely dreamt big, this wedding was 2 years in the making. If I were to choose words to describe our day they would be: Traditional, Elegant, and Glam with a hint of Disney Magic. It was important for us to respect the wishes of our parents and chose to have a traditional Filipino catholic ceremony involving all members of our immediate and extended family at the beautiful St. Peter and Paul’s church in San Francisco.

Frances was just a godsend to us, from the minute we met her we knew she was the only one who could make our dream wedding come to life. She described me as her “unicorn bride” because I continuously asked her to find me something “different” and “hasn’t been done before.”

The day was perfect, Marvin was in tears watching our family and wedding party walk down the aisle in support and celebration of us. It was truly an unforgettable moment when I got to the altar with my parents at my side, and Marvin waiting for me. My dad took my hand, gave it to Marvin and with

tears in his eyes said, “take care of my daughter.” Of course we all had lost it at this point and was all crying.

For our reception, Frances captured all aspects of our elegant, glam and hint Disney soirée with her beautiful design, hidden mickeys, and the words “Live the Magic.” As huge Disney fans, Disneyland and the nightly 60th anniversary fireworks titled “Live the Magic” was our weekly date spot while living in Los Angeles. The theme song from this fireworks spectacular was the obvious choice for our first dance.

We couldn’t imagined a more beautiful day and start to the rest of our lives together.
