Lake Annecy Wedding in Talloires, France with a Kenyan Twist

It’s never easy to choose one image to start with in the wedding features I write. But this scene in today’s soiree from Amy Fanton had my curiosity piqued from the get go. With a beautiful turquoise blue sheen on the water—similar to that of Lake Como—I had to know where these I dos took place. And it happens to be 5 hours west, at Lake Annecy in France. With a simply elegant vibe, this duo tied in both their French and African roots, for a day that was classic and timeless.

From Amy Fanton… This beautiful wedding was a classic french soirée in the mountainside and lakeside village of Talliores, France (Annecy) where the bride grew up spending her summers with her family. The groom and his family are from Kenya, and the couple tried their best to tie in details from their French and African roots while keeping the overall decor classic, elegant and timeless. The bride chose the color palate to compliment Lake Annecy with soft blues, greens and golds. She wore a magnificent gown from Susan Neville, an art-deco style heirloom ring from the groom’s family, and an heirloom necklace from her own family which was made from a pear necklace of her grandmother. Each of her sisters used a pearl to make their own custom necklaces. The couple tied in the Kenyan side of the family with gorgeous beaded bracelets that were gifted to the bridesmaids, and gold African animal statues as centerpieces, with the Swahili name of the animal as the table name. Fun note: The couple met and lived together during their engagement in London, UK which explains why so many of the female guests are wearing hats! They put clothespins at each of their female guests seats to invite them to ‘hang their hats’ during the reception on a string that hung around the marquee which was a unique touch!
