From Ana Lui… In January, I travelled from Ibiza to LA to visit my friend Diva Borrelli who happens to be the most talented makeup artist. Because it was my first time in California I had decided to reach out to Amorology, San Diego based wedding and event designers, whom I have been following online for quite a while. Heather, the founder of Amorology, got back to me saying they would love to shoot with me and they kindly connected me with Caroline and Drew who happened to be traveling to Del Mar…
… We connected and decided to photograph a mini engagement shoot on one of the long sandy beaches of Del Mar. It was windy, the sun was strong and the ocean was absolutely freezing. I had such an amazing time photographing these two wonderful souls, we laughed, ran around and enjoyed every minute of the California sunlight! I can’t wait to go back to Cali again this fall!
From Caroline and Drew… During our time in law school in Los Angeles, we spent many weekends visiting family in Del Mar. We fell in love with the beach town’s sleepy charm and it was the perfect escape from the hustle and traffic of Los Angeles. When we thought about our engagement photos, we both immediately pictured the cliffs and beaches of Del Mar. The colors of the cliffs and ocean at sunset are unbeatable and we loved the relaxed, casual feel of the setting. We have a really long engagement (15 months), so we figured we would do our engagement photos at some point towards the second half of the year.
Out of the blue, our wedding planner emailed us about this amazing photographer, Ana Lui, who perfectly matched our style. Only hitch was she was coming to town in three days, so we had to act quickly. We’re so happy that we jumped on it. The day was a total delight. Neither of us had done a photo shoot before and we are so far from being natural models, but Ana and her team made us feel so comfortable from the moment we met them. Since we only had a few days advance notice, we both chose clothes that were comfortable for us and staples in our closet. We’re so happy we did that – we felt that the pictures really captured our true selves. Ana kept the afternoon so relaxed and full of laughter. The day flew by and we can’t stop looking at the final product.
