From Gavita Flora... If you were to take a drive into beautiful and serene Carmel Valley, California, you may notice something very special tucked away among the gently rolling hills and vineyards. A charming French chateau, aptly named Folktale Winery, peaks out from behind majestic oak and cypress trees. It’s not hard to feel completely transported when looking at this beautiful landmark. The design for this editorial shoot, captured by the wonderful film photographer, Samantha Kirk, was inspired by the French architecture of the chateau, as well as the relaxed and untamed beauty of Carmel Valley.

For this design, we wanted to create a feeling of warmth, sophistication, and refined femininity. A rustic wooden farm table from Bright Event Rentals was softened with a flowy silk table runner and hand-loomed cotton napkins from Silk & Willow. The french-inspired “Arthur” chairs and antique brass candlesticks added a quintessential French feel.

Artful details were designed into the paper goods by Kelsey Malie Calligraphy, including a hand-drawn illustration of the chateau itself. The dress, “Daphne” by Ivy & Aster, was soft and feminine with a touch of drama. The bride's hair, by Kelly Jo Makeup & Hair, was delicately braided and pinned into an effortlessly romantic updo.

For the floral elements, we wanted to create pieces that felt relaxed, feminine, and timelessly romantic. The bouquet was finished with a blend of soft blush and muted coral silk ribbons from Silk & Willow.
