This right here is one seriously adorable engagement session! Aria Photography captured the love between Katie and Chad, who traveled to the bride’s Sacramento hometown for a bright and sunny shoot outside the California State Capitol. From Katie… It’s no secret that I am absolutely obsessed with 4th of July. Each year, my family hosts a 4th of July party at the home I grew up in for all of our closest friends and family. Six months into my relationship with Chad, he came home with me to meet my parents for the first time and to attend this party. He’s been coming every year since – I think we’ve racked up five 4th of July parties now, but this last one will always have an extra special place in our hearts.
On July 2nd, Chad and I caught a flight from Chicago to Sacramento to head home for the 4th of July weekend. My mom had mentioned that we were going to brunch with my nana when we landed, so without thinking twice, we both changed from our “travel clothes” into brunch appropriate attire at the airport. When heading down the escalator towards baggage, the airport seemed unusually empty, and I noticed a woman holding a sign reading “Mr. and Mrs. Wardlaw”. We approached this woman, Chad thanked her, and he got down on one knee. I don’t totally remember what he said, but I remember feeling like we were the only ones in the entire airport and so overwhelmed with happiness. Before I could process what was happening, I turned around to see my best friends and both of our families approaching us to celebrate. Chad had flown everyone in to be part of this special moment! The fun was not over then. We went outside to a waiting limo filled with champagne that took us back to my family’s home where we were joined by 60 more family members and friends. We celebrated all day and ended the night watching fireworks. This day was everything I had ever dreamed of, with so much love, excitement, and joy surrounding us.
