This Wedding’s Late Night Treat Will Melt Your Heart

Who doesn’t love an indulgent, late night snack when you’re dancing the night away? This classic wedding on the Beach Pavilion at Cedar Point wowed guests their delicious and thoughtful offerings. Friends and family enjoyed munching on Skyline Chili Dogs, a favorite of the bride and groom, and a sweet finish with Toft’s ice cream cart, a special tribute in memory of the bride’s grandfather who loved Toft’s ice cream. Kirkbrides Wedding Planning & Design knocked it out of the park with this celebration, and Style & Story Creative captured the whole thing. From the Mother of the Bride… Growing up on Lake Erie, we knew we HAD to have the reception on the water. The lake has been such a big part of our lives! That’s also why we rented “The Goodtime” boat in between the wedding and reception. We wanted to share our love of Lake Erie with our wedding guests. As a mother with only one daughter, the sentimental touches were important to me and made my heart overflow. The blue stemmed champagne flutes that Stephanie and Joe used for their toasts used were the same ones my husband and I used for our wedding toast 30 years ago. They also used the same cake knife and server Ron and I used. The ice cream cart in memory of Stephanie’s grandfather was one of the most precious details and still makes me smile. (Oh, how that man loved his ice cream!) So many guests loved the special tribute.

From Kirkbrides Wedding Planning & Design… July 9th 2016 was an exciting day for Kirkbrides, not only because we had an amazing wedding, but also because it was at Cedar Point! For those who don’t know, Cedar Point is on a peninsula on Lake Erie and repeatedly wins the award for roller coaster capital of the world. Stephanie and Joe chose the Cedar Point Lakeside Pavilion for their stunning 350 guest wedding reception, which was the perfect setting for Stephanie’s waterfront wedding vision.

After a beautiful catholic ceremony at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Sandusky, guests were treated to a ride on the lake on “The Goodtime,” which also provided fun for bridal party photos. Upon arrival to the evening reception, guests entered the beachfront Hotel Breakers, walked through the historic lobby (the hotel dates back to 1905), out to the boardwalk, and then down to the Lakeside Pavilion. With the pavilion having three bays, the wedding utilized two of them to create an area for cocktail hour and an area for dinner. Rock the House created two stunning spaces with white drapery, sheer enough to still expose the beautiful Lake Erie view.

In the cocktail hour bay, guests were greeted with comfortable lounge furniture and a fun black and white checkered dance floor rented from Event Source. Featured on top of the dance floor was an amazing three tier wedding cake topped with white orchids and roses created by Wendy Kromer. During cocktail hour, the Cedar Point beach was the perfect setting for Stephanie and Joe to sneak out and take a few pics with their talented photographers from Style and Story Creative. Her Monique Lhuillier gown and Swarovski jewelry was stunning against the water and sand!

Once Stephanie and Joe cut their cake, guests moved into the dinning bay. Guests were blown away to see this area full of round and rectangular dining tables with a variety of centerpieces created by Mandy from Petal Pushers. The centerpieces consisted of a variety of different gold vases filled with greens and an assortment of white flowers. Surrounding the vases were a mixture of different sized gold candles to create a unique look for each table.

As dinner came to an end, guests were welcomed back into the first bay for dancing and late night snacks. Rock the House completely transformed the space with lighting while Style and Story captured the guests having a blast! Before the night came to an end, guests enjoyed ice cream from the Toft’s ice cream cart, a nod to Stephanie’s grandfather, and Skyline Chili Dogs, a personal favorite of Stephanie and Joe’s. As guests danced the night away to the upbeat and lively Bluewater Kings band, all of the rides at Cedar Point lit up and dazzled in the summer sky. There is no other way to end a perfect summer wedding day at Cedar Point!
