From Rachel Pearlman PhotographyA combination of modern meets historic is the best way to describe this stunning summer wedding in historic Philadelphia. Jess and Mark met at the University of Pittsburgh, and once engaged they knew that a wedding in the City of Brotherly Love was not negotiable. Jess is from Philadelphia, so the couple had spent a lot of time in the area and were drawn to the architecture and charm of historic Old City. Once they saw The Downtown Club, founded in 1897 in true Georgian Revival Style, their vision of a neutral color scheme – complete with modern additions- started to come together beautifully. Luxurious details included mixing ghost chairs with golden urns and neutral linens for an unexpected twist. Their cake included cascading sugar flowers dusted in gold. As Mark and Jess were introduced, a canon of rose petals was released on the dance floor. During their ceremony, the couple’s wedding bands were hidden under the chair of a ‘mystery guest’, who was called to act as their ring bearer during vows!
