This Christmas Affair is what Winter Dreams are Made of

Christmas weddings conjure images of poinsettia-lined aisles and decor in shades of red and green. So, this Christmas wedding in the Cotswolds is a breath of fresh air with its beautiful sophistication and holiday cheer. A color palette of caramel, gray and blush created a warm romance while a stag motif and wintery flora brought the festive feel of Christmas to the whole affair. See all the magic moments (including gorgeous twobirds Bridesmaid dresses), captured by Weddings by Nicola & Glen, in The Vault!

From Weddings By Nicola And Glen… Nicola and Bryn celebrated their December wedding at Barnsley House in the Cotswolds. We love how our couple embraced the festive feel of Christmas in a fresh and feminine way with a glamorous touch of the countryside too. Caramels, greys and blush hues created a romantic atmosphere. A stag motif ran through the paper goods and table decor evoking the season and setting. Our Bride wore an edgy and utterly wondrous Watters ensemble; consisting of the exquisite Kian corset and Priya skirt!

Some of our favourite details were the bespoke wreath our couple commissioned from Flowers by Passion. Personalized christmas decorations acted as a lovely favour each guest could pick off the christmas tree before sitting down for dinner. Guests also wrote special messages of congratulations to the couple on blank baubles, which Nicola and Bryn will use on their tree for future Christmases as a beautiful alternative guest book.

Our couple opted for a First Look followed by a candlelit church ceremony. They were welcomed back to Barnsley House with a beautiful sparkler reception. Post ceremony celebrations were kicked off with winter warmer cocktails, hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows by the open fire!

From The Bride…We were friends long before we fell in love. We worked for the same company, and although we had very different jobs our paths crossed enough for us to find our shared sense of humour, passion for the English countryside and enjoyment of good company.

Years later, when fate threw us together following the break up of both our previous marriages, we had a solid trusting foundation which gave us the confidence to follow our hearts and go for it.

Inspiration for the day…When Bryn proposed in the summer of 2014 in Rome, we both knew we wanted to be married in the quintessentially English Cotswolds which we are fortunate to have on our doorstep and at our favourite time of year – Christmas.

Having looked at a number of venues – We came up the sweeping driveway of Barnsley House Hotel, took one step inside and was greeted by Michel and his amazing team and our decision was made there and then! It would be perfect for the fun-filled two days we were looking for with our close friends and family. It was to be a Christmas wedding with lots of sparkle, candles, marshmallows toasting on log fires, warming cocktails and lots of laughter and I had no hesitation that the Barnsley House team and the superb Cotswold Wedding Company would have it all covered. Barnsley became even more special when we started going to church in the village as well. The Parish have really embraced us and the personalities which now make this centuries old village thrive have given us some amazing memories.

Most memorable moment of the day… As our wedding ceremony was at dusk our photographers (Nicola and Glen) encouraged us to do a ‘first look’ and see each other before the ceremony. It was the most magical experience walking up behind Bryn and tapping him on the shoulder – he turned round and my heart filled with overwhelming love…There were many tears and re-applying of make up!

Advice? Stretch it out for as long as possible! We gave everybody the chance to get together the day before the wedding, and on the morning of the wedding the boys went shooting and the girls had a lazy breakfast…we wanted our guests to make new friends and leave having felt they had had a break as well.

My dress (a corset and tulle skirt) was from Watters and my footwear was Jimmy Choo! Bryn, Tim (best man) and Steve (surrogate father of the bride and best friend) all wore bespoke HUGO BOSS. The bridesmaids were in TwoBirdsBridesmaids and Jimmy Choo shoes. Paxton and Whitfield provided the cheesecake.
