From RLE Charleston… The bride’s family from Charleston, had recently purchased their second home at Edisto Island and immediately determined it would be the perfect location for Chesney and Ryan’s wedding.

I visited the property many times with the family as they transformed the spaces and chose the perfect wedding vignettes. For the Ceremony they chose the perfect spot under the Chesney Oak, a Grand Oak with big beautiful branches that enveloped them as they were wed in a spiritual wedding ceremony officiated by close family friend Brian McGreevey.

Guests were then encouraged to join for Cocktails on the front of the house (which in the South is actually the back) to enjoy the Sunset views along Bailey’s Creek. Delicious Southern Style Hors D’oeuvres by Salthouse Catering were passed on family Silver Trays (Tomato Pie Tartlets, Mini Crab Cakes, Deviled Farm Eggs with Caviar, & Mini Smoked Duck Rubens).

For the reception, Guests promenaded around the house to the Sailcloth reception tent placed alongside a dual reflecting pond – perfect for bouncing light as the evening light crept in. Guests danced the night away to the Emerald Empire Band and enjoyed delicious Red Velvet and Lemon cake, Mini Pecan Pies, Chocolate Cups with Peanut Butter Mousse, Mini Lemon Bars, Mini Coconut Cream Tarts by the talented Ashley Bakery pastry chef, Hayden Campbell.

Bringing in some of the Old World vintage touches, we purchased a guest book for Guests to sign: A Vintage 1952 Encyclopedia Britannica World Atlas Maps.

Floral Designer, Sara York Grimshaw Designs created the perfect continuous free-spirit floral tablescapes of loose and organic florals with interesting greenery surrounded by hobnail votives and vases. Utilizing ‘single type’ arrangements of: Hyacinth, astilbe, chamomile, ranunculus, sweet peas, delphinium, veronica and seasonal blooms for that perfect ‘picked from the garden’ feel.

Trixie, Chesney’s Pug, was a special wedding attendant, adorned with her own floral collar and stayed until the last guest departed!

Guests Showered the Bride & Groom as they exited into a Classic Rolls Royce with dried Lavender – a favorite childhood ‘smell’ memory of Chesney’s.
