Rustic Dutch Wedding Inspiration

I swear in a previous life I was Dutch, at least after looking at this gallery I’m sure going to start claiming to be. Reason being? The Dutch just get me. With an inspo filled with pretty blue pottery and lush bouquets bursting with tulips, it’s obvious I was mistakenly not born in the Netherlands. I mean, wouldn’t you agree? From CHYMO & MORE Photography … Drawing inspiration from the traditional Dutch venues for a styled wedding editorial, Daniella from Naturae Design and photographer Chymo from CHYMO & MORE Photography found a traditional Dutch windmill from the 18th century in the middle of the old city center of Utrecht.

This styled shoot is filled with Dutch elements and soft pastel colors: a mix of serenity blue, soft grey, champagne and blush.

Floral designer & stylist Natalia from bloemenmeisjes.com was inspired by the meaning and the roots of Dutch traditions and habits and carefully chose the flowers and the tableware accordingly. The idea of using the wheat flour and cheese came up to her while she was looking at the paintings of the Dutch Renaissance masters, which pictured still life.

Tulips have been grown in the Netherlands since the Renascence and is truly a beauty with many varieties. These flowers are an integrated part of this shoot in color and the meaning.

Delft Blue porcelain is a fine example of the handcraft of the 17th century. It goes very well with the elegant and playful patterned dishes. The simplicity of the cutlery is balanced with the rustic look of the table. The tiny silver tea-strainer gives the picture a touch of shine and more authentic look.

The Cake designer Alma from Alma’s Bakery worked together with Natalia to decorate the cake with the real flowers. She baked the cookies and meringues that would complement the styling and color palette. They choose a serenity blue base for the cake and added some blush color flowers and eucalyptus leaves.

Photographer Chymo from CHYMO & MORE Photography approached the photos in a way that is soft and calm, with an eye for natural elegance, artistic details, and an appreciation for the gentle touch of winter sun.

Daniella from Naturae Design created 5 headpieces for this shoot. A piece with fresh water pearls dipped in gold inspired by the painting “The girl with the pearl earring” by Vermeer. A comb with golden maple leaves together with a belt made with maple leaves.

She choose the gold tones that would go well with the serenity blue color of the dress and the golden blond hair of the model Caroline and one headpiece made from little dusty blue Labradorite crystals attached to the hair with the bobby-pins.

Calligrapher Joyce from KIJKkalligrafie went along with the romantic color scheme by using a delicate ripped cotton paper, matte blue envelopes and a matte copper addressing.
