Romantic Surprise Penthouse Proposal

You know how we feel about surprise proposals, and today we’re kicking off a week long worth of romance with the ultimate ask. Surrounded by 20 (literally) love-filled balloons Daniel asked Kim about forever and the results are beyond sweet. Just Because Vancouver was the visionary behind the scenes and Kim James Photography captured it all to share and we’ve got it waiting for you in THE VAULT!

From Just Because VancouverWhen Daniel reached out to us to plan his proposal, we knew immediately that his over-the-top affection for Kim had to be matched in his surprise engagement. There is no better place than the 48th floor of an $18 million penthouse at Hotel Georgia’s Private Residences. Surrounded by 20 abundantly love-filled Big Love Balls, Daniel stood in the middle of this breathtaking 6,800sqft canvas with sweeping panoramic views. While Kim was obliviously being glammed up for her fake “photo-shoot” in another room, a bouquet of flowers, champagne and hors d’oeuvres were waiting for her on the most romantic balcony in Canada. Daniel wanted something breathtaking – and breathtaking is what he received.

From the Bride-to-be…Late July, my agent Grace had sent me an e-mail confirmation for an upcoming jewelry catalog booking that would be for the brand Olive and Piper, and was set to take place on Wednesday August 12th. The evening before, I packed so many different dresses for the shoot and planned to bring a big 5 pound watermelon for a church picnic after.

On arrival at the Private Residences at Georgia Hotel, I was lead to a room where hair and make-up would take place. I saw signs on the door saying “Make-Up & Hair” and “Photoshoot in Progress”. I was thinking the shoot was set up very professionally! Even more surprising, was when one of my all time favourite make-up artists greeted me, Annie. We both ‘had no idea’ we would be working on this ‘shoot’ together.

When we finally finished, I opened the doors to where the shoot was being held, and noticed massive white blow-up balls that said “love” in bold black letters on them. I stood there, confused. Out of nowhere, my boyfriend showed up from behind one of the Big Love Balls.

Feeling overwhelmed, I saw the most genuine and nervous smile, happy, teary eyes and as he spoke, I heard words filled with so much love. I could barely hear what he was saying, but I knew what was happening. He got down on one knee and I can only pray I said “YES!”. He really got me! What a surprise!

The unbelievable plan was explained to me, how I was ‘punked’ and how the entire shoot was a set up through Just Because Vancouver, a wedding proposal planning company. I was told how it was Daniel receiving my wardrobe photos and selecting the dress I would wear that day. I learned Daniel had went to ask my parents for their blessing the day after I went on my most recent work trip to Singapore. I could not of dreamed of a better surprise engagement. This marks my most treasured and best day alive yet.
