From Laura Nelson… #adventureswithevanandsophie is where it all started. Evan and Sophie found each other on instagram, fell in love and pledged their love for each other in front of all their friends and family on a smokey summer day surrounded by vines and pear trees.

From the Bride… Once upon a time I was surfing through Instagram and came across a cute boy. He was a music playing, photo-taking barista. What more could a girl ask for? I decided to follow him so I could continue to gawk over his photos along with his several thousands of other instagram-admirers. Somehow in the midst of social media he noticed me and the rest is now history.

Exactly one year after our first date my best friend was in town visiting from school (little did I know it was all a part of the plan). We decided to all take a hike together to take some pictures and enjoy the crisp fall air. Evan and I were posing for a shot when he started saying all these sweet things in my ear. Next thing I know he was reaching into his pocket, getting down on his knee and asking me to marry him. Of course I said “YES!”

We knew we wanted our wedding to be an outdoor summer wedding and soon as the question was popped I began the planning! We were on a pretty tight budget so I began to teach myself sets of skills that I could use for wedding prep! I took a calligraphy class and had my dad teach me some woodwork skills…then the crafting begun! I cut, stained and painted numerous signs and spent hours working on our invitation suite.

My mom and I collected vintage wine glasses and plates to use on the tables and we went to every estate sale in the valley to find pieces of furniture to use throughout the venue. It was definitely hard work but we were able to have the wedding of our dreams while remaining in our budget!

The ceremony took place in an orchard just two minutes from my childhood home on a warm, smoky day in August. My favorite moment of the day was when I was standing at the altar in my white dress, looking into my groom’s eyes and listening to the sweet words he wrote to me in the letters that we exchanged. All in all we laughed, we cried, we ate tacos and we danced the night away! How much more perfect can it get?
