This Austrailian affair was the kind that just overflows with love. Where every detail has a meaning and where thought was just poured into every moment of the day. It’s the kind of wedding we adore here at SMP, and thanks to Lisa Hayman’s beautiful images, we can get lost in all the magic of the day here.
From The Bride…Adam proposed during a long weekend away that he planned in the Yarra Valley, VIC in March 2014. It was a beautiful weekend where we stayed at the historic homestead, Chateau Yering. We started the day off with a hot air balloon ride, followed by a wine tour where we drank wine and ate cheese all day. We enjoyed relaxing at Chateau Yering homestead, and this is where Adam popped the question overlooking the amazing vineyards.
From Lisa Hayman (with information provided by Aimee)…Aimee and Adam were wed on April 18, 2015 amongst the golden vines at Avon Ridge Winery in the outskirts of the small country Victorian town of Maffra. Inspired by the Magnolia leaf, Aimee tied elements of the gold leaf, blush pink, charcoal, Doddavine and craft paper to create her theme and vision for the day. Both Aimee and Adam wanted to create an elegant, romantic and slightly rustic feel to the day. Avon Ridge Winery provided the perfect platform for Aimee and Adam’s creative vision – the venue is intimate, relaxed and is framed by rolling hills and lengthy grapevines.
Whilst both Aimee and Adam’s families live interstate, family still remained a central focus of the wedding preparations and wedding day. Both families worked on many DIY projects for the wedding. Aimee created all the table centre pieces – collecting jars, and wrapping fresh doddavine around the jar then letting it naturally dry over the months leading up to the wedding. In addition, she created the beautiful tulle backdrop for the photo booth they set up for guests on the verandah during the reception. Sister-of-the-Bride, Annelise, designed and painted the fingerprint tree the couple used as their guest book. Mother-of-the-Bride Cherie made all the beautiful blackboards & signage for the event. In a very special family tradition, both the mother-of-the-bride and mother-in-law made their family tradition fruit cake as the wedding cake – contributing a tier each. The father-of-the-bride owns a Café and blends his own teas in the New England area. He created special tea blend favours for Aimee’s brother’s wedding. She wanted to follow the tradition and her father made Aimee and Adam their own special wedding blend and they gave it to their guests. On the wishing well table they displayed generation family wedding photos from both sides. This was a talking point and was very special for both Aimee and Adam.
Aimee wore a stunning, figure hugging ivory Carla Zampatti gown. Aimee’s sisters and Mother flew down to Melbourne in the months leading up to the wedding for a girls week away. After trying on a number of detailed potential bridal dresses that just didn’t feel right, on the last day Aimee and the girls went to David Jones in the Melbourne CBD where she showed them a particular Carla Zampatti dress she had been eyeing off. All three of them forced Aimee to try the dress on and it was love at first sight!
The wedding day ran like clockwork (aside from a little mishap with a missing pair of groomsman pants!). Rain was threatening to come down all morning but we didn’t get a drop of it until the moment Aimee and Adam were pronounced husband and wife – it was a pretty epic declaration of marriage from the Heavens! The hugs and congratulatory handshakes were cut short as the couple sought shelter under the veranda of the winery restaurant. Thankfully it only rained for 5 minutes then the rest of the afternoon was spent basked in beautiful autumnal sun as we took bridal party portraits in the winery grounds. For both Aimee and Adam, one of the highlights of the wedding day was spending time with loved ones and seeing the joy and happiness on their faces throughout the day.
