Outdoor Western Australia Summer Wedding

When a wedding photographer becomes a bride, I have to imagine it’s not easy finding just the right person to capture your day. That is, unless, you have Jose Villa on the job. Then rest assured you’re in really good hands. It’s exactly the route our industry friend, Jemma Keech went, and with a sister who just happens to own Bride + Groom Store? Well, it’s almost not fair. Peek inside her olive grove nuptials that I promise will leave you nothing but inspired.

From the Bride… We had our ceremony in an olive grove in an area called Bornholm, which halfway between the two towns where we grew up. My parents have grown olives for a long time, so I couldn’t think of anywhere else I would rather get married than in amongst the beautiful olive trees! Our reception was held on my parents’ property, about 10 minutes from the ceremony site in the middle of a field.

We wanted to have a beautiful, summer black tie wedding. I love the combination of soft blush, almond and peach paired with lots of touches of green from the olive foliage. We also incorporated some elements of beautiful dark wood with our ceremony benches, seating for canapés & the walnut Tiffany chairs.

We loved the idea of creating something special in the middle of a field, so decided on having a marquee with a large outdoor area, so guests enjoyed cocktail hour outside and when the sun went down came into the marquee. We wanted to have that contrast of the golden grass & the lush green lawn, so we left the rye grass to surround the marquee.

Being a wedding photographer, I’m was lucky to have many friends within the wedding industry, who really went above and beyond to make our day beautiful. I was also extremely fortunate to have the help of my amazing sister who owns a styling/furniture business (Bride + Groom), who helped me do everything! Very, very lucky!!

Joel & Jose coming all the way across the globe was also a very special present. They are both so unbelievably lovely and it was so special to have them there. It was such a wonderful day that we both wish we could do again & again!
