You see, this Canadian estate wedding is a classic style lover’s dream, with the heart and soul to match. And to top it all off? From Lisa from Sweet Woodruff… Alex and Jim wanted their wedding to be an intimate affair – a family gathering. They wanted an evening that was elegant and sophisticated, but still felt warm, welcoming and comfortable.
The couple chose Langdon Hall, an old Ontario estate converted into a Country House Hotel. The property still exudes the air of its British origins, nestled in amongst lush English gardens. It was the perfect setting for their romantic dinner party, with a home-away-from-home atmosphere.
When designing the wedding we settled on a warm, but soft and muted color palette of warm caramel colored yellow, faint blush pink, peach and white; perfect for the early summer season and the garden setting.
The couple wanted to take advantage of the hotel’s natural beauty, so the ceremony was held outside amongst the gardens. Dinner was held in the Orchard Room, a cozy space with white coffered ceilings, and stunning floor to ceiling windows overlooking the hotel’s orchard.
The room was designed with long family-style tables to bring a sense of closeness and intimacy for their dinner party of 40 guests. The tables were dressed in oatmeal linen, accented with over spilling flower arrangements of garden roses, spirea, sweet pea, beauty bush and dogwood. We added ample candlelight for ambience and warmth. Delicate hand-calligraphy menus tied with hand-dyed blush silk were placed amongst the blooms.
Alex and Jim were the most gracious couple. Warm, thoughtful and sophisticated. Their celebration was definitely befitting of them.
