Rustic + Romantic Summer Wedding at Cornerstone Gardens

There are some weddings that are romantic, some elegant, some emotional, some super sweet…and then there are those that hit every single one of those notes brilliantly, and this Sonoma celebration is one of them. Coordinated by Sugar Rush Events, this summer wedding shined bright with love and laughter and Jasmine Lee captured it all. Bring a smile to your face with all the goodies in the Vault right this way!

From the Bride… Mark and I knew we wanted an outdoor summer wedding in wine country. We instantly fell in love with Cornerstone Gardens in Sonoma and booked it the week we got engaged! We loved the different spaces within the property – the vineyard lawn and lily pond, the rustic barn, the white tent elegantly lit up by string lights. We were also amazed by the unique art pieces and installations throughout the property. Made for some very memorable wedding pictures!

On the morning of the wedding, we held a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at my parents’ house. The bride and groom kneel before their elder relatives and serve them tea as a sign of respect. In turn, the relatives give the happy couple red envelopes with money or jewelry inside. I wore a custom-fitted, red “cherng sam” made of lace and beautiful gold beading, as well as gold bracelets and necklaces passed on to me by my mother and mother-in-law. (Their mothers had passed it on to them on their wedding day so this was really special!) To celebrate Mark’s Hawaiian heritage, his aunt presented us with fresh white orchid leis, symbolizing a new chapter of life and love.

The theme of our wedding was rustic and romantic. We chose a simple palette of neutral colors (ivory, champagne, blush) and my bridesmaids all chose different dresses. I loved how the various colors, textures, and fabrics photographed! To complement the ladies, Mark and his groomsmen wore blue suits, brown Oxfords, and matching gray Donegal wool ties from J.Crew. Surrounded by our closest family and friends, we said our vows and took communion together facing the lily pond. After cocktail hour in the barn patio, guests made their way to the tent reception where Park Avenue Catering served up a delicious family-style meal. With amber-colored up-lighting, vintage banquette sofas, and cocktail tables, the night ended with dancing in the barn.

We are so grateful for our amazing vendors who, from the beginning, understood our vision for the day and helped us bring it to life. Kristen Jensen from Sugar Rush Events made sure everything ran smoothly and was more than accommodating throughout the entire planning process. Sophie Lau from Petals by Sophie did an incredible job using peonies, garden roses, eucalyptus, and dusty miller for our bouquets and wedding decor. Each table centerpiece had a pop of color that nicely contrasted with the white tablecloths, walnut-colored chairs and table numbers, and individual menus printed on Kraft paper. Last but not least, we were so happy to have gorgeous images by Jasmine Lee Photography to remember all the little moments that seemed to fly by so fast. Thank you Jasmine and Nathalie!
