Black Tie Botanical Wedding Inspiration

A black tie bash is a straight shot to my wedding-loving heart. There’s something so exciting about seeing your family and friends all fancied up and dressed to the nines. But that doesn’t mean black tie has to be overly classic, or traditional. Case in point? This slice of inspiration from Diana McGregorHarmony Creative Studio and Heirloom Design House. It’s sophisticated and organic all in one—and well, complete perfection. See it all here!

From Harmony Creative StudioCrystal from Heirloom Design House utilized over 60 different types of flowers, ivy, plants and trees to make our Black Tie Botanical paradise at the new HNYPT (or ‘Honeypot’) venue in Downtown Los Angeles. We were able to highlight the amazing trusses that span the length of the roof; draping both ivy and sheer fabric for a soft romantic look. We kept that look going with an organic backdrop of greenery, gold and candles that was a beautiful juxtaposition with the industrial walls of the venue.

The exposed electrical workings and pipes are one of my favorite corners of the venue, and by inserting plant life directly into the crooks and crannies, it became an ideal spot for our bar set up. Signature drinks are always a big hit at all HCS weddings, and here we kept with the theme by using some of the scientific botanic names for the ingredients in the names:

His: ‘C. Limon Juniperus’ Gin, Mint Leaves, Bitter Lemon

Hers: ‘Vitis Vinifera’ Champagne, Hibiscus, Lavender

Lauren from A Fabulous Fete just outdid herself with the gorgeous invitation suite. She thought up a crest surrounded by ivy, which we adored so much we brought it to life over our lounge area. By keeping to a neutral palette of ivory, leather and wood pieces by Found Rentals, the hints of greenery, gold and our bridal party were able to take center stage.

Our bride is wearing a fabulous Sarah Janks dress, with 3D flowers that fit in perfectly with our romantic botanical theme. Her maids are upping the sparkle factor in contrasting colors, which is proof your ladies don’t necessarily have to match everything (or anything!) else to be right at home in your wedding palette. And while flower crowns are wonderful, adding just a hint of greenery to hair allows for natural beauty to shine through while still being on trend. And while the inside of HNYPT is a fantastic white canvas, the exterior walls are a sublime dark blue, which makes for perfect portraits! We were so fortunate to have the amazing Diana McGregor capture everything on film, her photography just brings such a lushness to each and every aspect.
