Romantic and Refined Classic Southern Wedding Inspiration

Brimming with a timeless combination of classic styling (like the model bride’s to-die-for Lea-Ann Belter confection), lush ivory florals from SOULflowers, and Southern charm, this inspiration shoot from photographer Julie Paisley is another perfect example of why my love for traditional Southern weddings endures. Take a peek at all the pretty in the gallery, and prepare to swoon!

From Julie PaisleyThe breathtaking grounds, gorgeous gardens and lavish décor of Riverwood Mansion have made it the seat of Southern hospitality since the 1700s. The grand Greek Revival columns and entryway along with the black Egyptian marble fireplaces lend a certain Southern sophistication to the mansion that inspired the classic romance of this shoot. It’s easy to get swept away by the grandeur of the space and the grounds, which are lined with towering magnolias whose sweet blooms made our real couple’s session on the grounds all the more romantic. By focusing on clean, simple lines and a paired-down color palette of greens, creams and the softest accents of blush and peach, we were able to create a modern feel that seamlessly complimented the ornate architectural elements and period details of the mansion. The resulting style is refined yet romantic with florals that were just untamed enough to keep the overall look from feeling stuffy. When paired with the architectural elements, ornate wall sconces and other period details in the space, these details created a classic elegance that matched the grandeur of a mansion where lavish parties were once held to honor presidents and poets alike. Still, we can’t think of anyone more worthy of celebration than a couple in love!
