Romantic Hawaiian Elopement in Waipio Valley

I just returned from a week in Kauai and have been missing the magical paradise daily. But Rebecca Arthurs‘ gorgeous photos of this Big Island elopement are bringing me right back. With breathtaking 360-degree views, a bouquet of tropical blooms and balloon release honoring family & friends, this sweet couple’s elopement is the perfect start to happily ever after. Fall in love here.

From the beautiful Bride… Kristopher and I met in high school when we were 15. We both grew up in a small town outside of Austin, Tx and share a love for the country and outdoors. Kristopher is the most caring, handsome, lovable man I’ve ever met. We share the same love for soccer and the same aspirations for the future. There’s never been a doubt in my mind about Kris and on Christmas Day 2014 he proposed! That following January Kris was drafted into Major League Soccer to play for Chivas USA and our wedding planning was put on hold while I was still finishing my degree at University of Texas at Austin. Planning a wedding became overwhelming and we were toying with the idea of a big wedding, small wedding, elopement, anything and everything in between. We finally decided on an elopement on the beautiful island of Hawaii.

While searching for a venue, we came across The Cliff House. Gorgeous views near Waipio Valley overlooking the ocean, we were hooked! After looking at Rebecca Arthur’s blog, we knew we had to have her as our photographer. These were by far the best two decisions we made for our wedding. Richard from the Cliff House was the sweetest man and welcomed us into his home with open arms. The house was very quiet & peaceful. He referred us to a farmer’s market in Hilo where I was able to get my bouquet! I couldn’t have had a prettier bouquet for our special day. Rebecca and her husband, Nick, were super sweet and so much fun! Kris and I are normally very shy, but Rebecca & Nick helped us calm down and prepare for the ceremony and relax. Our day was more than perfect thanks to Richard, Rebecca & Nick.

We wanted our day to be very laid back and casual, which is exactly how it was! On our big balloon we wrote letters to our loved ones back home, our loved ones in heaven, and our best friend Titan (our German Shepherd). At the end of a day we were both ecstatic to finally be married after 7 long years and wouldn’t have changed anything. It rained on our wedding day, but we consider that good luck! After all: “Life is not so much about waiting for the storms to pass as it is about learning to dance in the rain.”
