Springtime Botanical Specimen Wedding Inspiration

Florals are often a main focal point of any wedding, but botanical specimens are something new! This stunning Jody Savage-shot inspiration shoot from Splendid Supply Co. brings florals to the forefront, with some gorgeous blooms from FiftyFlowers, yummy bites from Chowgirls, and a stunning model Bride, whose look was fresh and springy, thanks to Julie Swenson and the team from A And B Bridal. See it all right here!

From Splendid Supply CoOur shoot’s inspiration started with 19th century botanical specimen illustrations and gardens. Instead of opting for a more traditional vintage approach, our team, led by Maddy of Splendid Supply Co., created a contemporary twist by infusing a modern color palette and a whimsical, Anthropologie-like approach to the execution. Photographed by Jody Savage and coordinated by The Simply Elegant Group, this shoot is fresh and perfect inspiration for a late spring or early summer wedding.

Starting with the concept of terrariums pulled from the vintage inspiration, Dani from Studio Fleurette created a lavish display featuring bulk flowers from FiftyFlowers.com. To give it a fresh look, Dani and Maddy designed and overgrown look that incorporated moss, ferns, air plants, and whimsical flower stems. We fleshed out the rest of the concept by continuing the overgrown look to a dessert bar installation that would take guests’ breaths away!

To continue the specimen concept, we incorporated other details that brought the research element forward in well designed, thoughtful way. We included escort cards that were collected seed packets, decorated with library books from On Solid Ground Vintage Rentals in our color palette, and picked up a stunning customized suite from Minted that prominently featured a botanical drawing – what we considered to be a modern update to the traditional specimen print. We even sourced a dress from A and Be Bridal Shop by Truvelle that had layers that reminded us of ruffled petals on a flower.
