New York City is a place close to my heart. You never know what might happen or who you’ll meet, and it’s these unplanned moments that can lead to something – or someone – special. Bo Of CLY BY MATTHEW captured this chic couple’s engagement session as they revisited the Lower East Side (the neighborhood where they first met!), and there’s plenty more to see in the full gallery right here!
From Cly By Matthew… We wanted to share this chic and fashionable couple’s engagement session. They were so sweet and so in love! I personally loved this session because everything about this shoot was very New York to me.
From The Bride… Brian and I met in 2006 in the Lower East Side in New York. I had just moved to the city and was searching for an apartment; he was looking for a roommate to replace one of his best friends who was leaving for Brooklyn. I took another apartment, but we met again and eventually started dating.
So last year, we took a trip to Morocco and he proposed on the first night in Fez. He had made a dinner reservation and unbeknownst to me, he had told the riad owner and restaurant manager about his plans. Of course, we were running late due to traffic and a cab driver who couldn’t find his way around the Medina. We arrived at 11:30 and the owner at Palais Amani told us to hurry up, shower, change and go to the restaurant (They had decided to wait for us.). We had dinner on a beautiful terrace with the view of the city, come back to the hotel and had a drink with the manager and staff on their rooftop. They left, and we stayed to take in the view. I turned around and saw Brian on one knee.
Working with Bo is amazing! I can’t think of a better choice for a wedding, portrait, or event photographer. She has an eye for the details that make great photos. She is experimental; even though we had locations scouted, she found backgrounds and scenes along the way that made for great photos. She also helps subjects (me) get over the awkwardness of posing in front of a camera.
